Steam Gives Ubisoft a Weekend of Discounts

It’s hard to argue when you look at Steam that it’s not the leading distributor of PC games, with its digital platform offering sales and protection for both creators and players of games. This weekend it’s Ubisoft’s turn with a weekend of discounts on all of their games.

Want to grab one of their new games? Why not try about Rainbow Six Seige at 33% off, costing you only £26.79, or how about going a bit Savage in Far Cry Primal for 20% off at £31.99.

Feel like you need something in between? Why not try out Assasin Creed Syndicate for 50% off for only £19.99! Enjoyed the game? Why not purchase the Season pass, which is also 50% off at £9.99.

With Far Cry 3 at 75%, Far Cry 4 at 50% off, the modern Far Cry games all call to be purchased. But what about the older ones? Don’t worry these are also on sale, with the original Far Cry coming in at only £1.74 (75% off) and Far Cry 2: Fortune’s Edition costing only £4.99 (50% off).

Want to play some classics, grab Rayman Legends for £3.99 at 75% off or race around in TrackMania United Forever Star Edition at only £9.99 (50% off).

Classic games like Rainbow Six 3 Gold, the Brothers in Arms Series and the Ghost Recon series are also included in the sale at 50% off.

With so many games to buy, check out the full list here and brace your wallets for a steep decline in funds.

*All prices were listed from the UK version of the site and were valid at the time of writing.

UPDATE: While the games themselves may be discounted at good prices, be wary of buying in bulk as the bundles seem to cost more than if you were to add and buy the games individually. For example, the Assassins Creed Pack will set you back £27.99 but the sale puts the contents of the bundle at only £21.98, something that Steam itself even picks up and tells you. It always helps to shop around, even during sales.

Steam Offers Great Deals On Borderlands And Dead Rising Series

Normally it gets to a weekend you have to find which games you need to complete to “tick” them off your list of purchased but not played games? I’m sorry to do this but I might be adding to that list as Steam is offering great deals on both the borderlands and dead rising series of games.

When I say great deals I am talking about up to 80% off Borderlands games and 70% off all Dead Rising games and DLC’s.

Are you a fan of the Borderlands games? Only managed to play one so far? With the originally only costing £2.49 and the sequel setting you back £4.99, you really have no excuse to not enjoy the games. Feel like you need more? Then get the Game of the year editions containing all their explosive DLC’s and then you can grab the pre-sequel. If you own both 1 and 2 and was waiting for a good time to get the pre-sequel, then wait no longer as you can get the triple pack (all three games) with the price discounted based on how many you already own (it cost me £3.49 to get the pre-sequel as I own both 1 and 2).

Feel like a little more mayhem then why not try out the dead rising pack? Featuring both Dead Rising 2 (and its many DLC’s) and Dead Rising 3 (Apocalypse Edition), you can now enjoy that Friday night zombie feeling with a friend. Costing you only £4,49 for Dead Rising 2 and £11.99 for Dead Rising 3, you can grab both and all the DLC available for Dead Rising 2 for just £20.99.

Treat yourself and enjoy the weekend.

The Division Made $330 Million During Release Week

Video games are a big money earner for the companies that get them right, and in this case, it would appear that Ubisoft got it very right with the Division dwarfing expectations and netting $330 million during release week.

Working off the average price for the game (standard edition, physical and digital) at $60, that would equate to around 5.5 million copies sold alone during release, week surely to grow as patches and fixes appear for its numerous “bugs”. The calculated figure does include other editions, though, such as the gold edition which contains the game and the season pass alongside the exclusive “national guard” gear set.

While 5.5 million users may be off, it may not be as far off people think with the game reaching 1.2 million users concurrently online during the game’s launch weekend, and 100 million hours logged of playtime since its release.

With so many players lining up to help save New York from a pandemic devastated black Friday, it looks like the game could go for a while longer with players eagerly awaiting everything from the next fix to the next DLC.

Are you a member of the Divison? Have you enjoyed the game so far or did you get hit by the release day bugs? Tell us your stories in the comments below.

2K Games appears to offer big discounts on its titles in the Humble Bundle store, having some titles come with 83% discount. It looks like Spec Ops: The Line comes free with any titles on sale, so users wanting to purchase either Sid Meier’s Civilisation Beyond Earth or Evolve will get a 2-in-1 offer.

The big titles currently on sale are as following:

  • Evolve – £26.24 (or grab the Digital Deluxe version for just £35.24 or even the PC Monster Race Edition for £44.24)
  • Bioshock Triple Pack – £7.99
  • Borderlands The Pre-Sequel! – £14.99
  • Sid Meier’s Civilisation Beyond Earth – £14.99

The above are just a few titles that can be found on the website. Also, deals are also likely to change until the weekend sale ends, so be sure to check the complete updated list here. Another important thing to mention is that each Humble purchase goes to various charities, namely the American Red Cross, Child’s Play, Wikimedia, GamesAid, and charity: water.

The Weekend Sale is set to end on March 31st, so be sure to grab a bargain while you can!

Warning: Latest HTC Sense Update Reportedly Screws Up Your Smartphone

If you have a HTC and already updated to the HTC Sense Version 6, then you might have already noticed your contacts deleted from both your phone and SIM, leaving the header on your text messages filled with numbers instead of names and your WhatsApp contact list empty. However, if you still haven’t updated to the latest HTC Sense rolled out over the weekend, our advice is to skip it until a fix is available.

Another issue related to the update has been described to be linked to the theme, having it default back to the Green Theme. This might not seem a major issue as you can go into the Settings and change it right back. Not this time apparently, having users reporting that although the theme changes, some loading bars and status messages will still appear in green, having it screw up the user’s preferred theme in some cases.

There have been discussions with HTC Customer Support regarding the ‘failed’ update, where they stated it is already being discussed and investigated. The customer support has also stated that nobody can roll back the smartphone in order to avoid the faulty update, meaning that users who already updated their HTC smartphones to HTC Sense Version 6 can only remain at the mercy of the company and their technical support.

Also, when asked about who was responsible for testing the update, the customer support team has pointed to the developers. This comes as a huge surprise since all software products, especially from big corporations such as HTC, must undergo strict testing cycles performed by a highly qualified Quality Assurance department in order to prevent such issues from occurring. However, HTC might have skipped this step (and we even wonder if they have such a department apparently).

What the HTC Sense 6 should have brought is an updated color palate and multiple themes for the UI, an updated interface and more news sources for the HTC BlinkFeed, an updated and simplified interface for the Camera, Galley and Apps Tray, as well as other features noted on HTC’s page. The company has not released any official news regarding the issues present in the update, nor stated when a fix would be available.

Steam Weekend Sale 12-4-13

Steam are at it again! This time they are bringing some insane options to the table that couldn’t be any different from one another, in my opinion at least. As some might be aware, Steam do love a good barging for the weekend and this time they are offering a huge Half Price deal on two rather successful games, and if you have been eyeing up one of these games for a while, now is the time to buy them!

First off we have a very unique simulator game – Farming Simulator 2013, the name pretty much is a dead give away for what it is and that is being a Farmer, I won’t lie – I haven’t played the game at all so wouldn’t feel just in talking about it or even commenting on it but if you enjoy something a bit different they you can get this game for under £10 which ain’t to bad a price for a game that came out this year.

The other one is something that has had huge ravings and people love it in general, I didn’t though. But hey, I know I am among the minority when I say that as the game known as Dishonoured received nothing, but raving reviews before it even hit the shelves, slapping it squarely at just under £15 it is pretty much a steal to anyone who would be remotely interested in a fantasy, steam punk stealth game. So what are you waiting for people? IT’S GAME TIME!
