It has been a while since we got the last official speed rating for SD cards from the SD Association and the current ratings are quite low compared to the speeds we see from other hardware parts these days. Granted, the SDA ratings are minimum speeds and we’ve long had cards that got past this, it will be nice to have a new official rating that will make sure our modern video recorders won’t skip frames.
The new Video Speed Class will be identifiable by the letter V in it and they are part of the new SD 5.0 specifications. The rating is made to make sure that you can record 4K, 8K, 3D and 360-degree video without hick-ups. The two fastest options, V90 and V60 are made to support up to 8K resolution while V6, V10, and V30 are designed for HD and 4K captures.
“With Video Speed Class, SD device and memory card manufacturers can offer the highest-quality video recording to consumers and professionals that keep pace with the awesome video resolutions not only offered today, but anticipated tomorrow,” said Brian Kumagai, president of the SDA. “New products leveraging the capabilities of Video Speed Class will be based on the high storage capacities offered by SDHC and SDXC memory cards.”
One of the nice things about the SD standard is the easy-to-understand speed ratings as compared to the CFast standard for example. The original SD Class 2, 4, 6, and 10 referred to the minimum speed in MB/s and the same goes for the U1 and U3 specifications except that you had to multiply them by 10. The new video speed class is prefixed with a V followed by the minimum speed rating as a number, much like the original Speed Class scheme.
Now, clever users will quickly have noticed that we already have SD cards on the market capable of these speeds, but they weren’t officially rated for it. That was more down to the natural advances in NAND technology, but now we also have official ratings and official certifications for it.
A new white paper, “Video Speed Class: The new capture protocol of SD 5.0,” outlines how the latest SD specification enables Video Speed Class. You can download the white paper at this page.
The Pinnacle of V creator Josh Romito has been under a lot of heat recently. So much that he has now shut down the project due to claims that he has stolen assets from other Grand Theft Auto mods that are available online.
Josh claimed that some people have contributed graphical assets for him to use in the Pinnacle of V mod. However, he was unaware that they had been extracted from other mods.
“Over the past week or so, I have been informed that parts of this project have been directly stolen from other developers, and handed to me as additions to my work. I have been made a fool of due to the motions of my peers, and I am taking action to try to preserve any honesty and integrity with the community I can. I apologize to everyone who was stolen from, and I wish there was a way this could be reversed.” Josh told DSOGaming.
He then explained to them the reason he has decided to shut the project down:
“I have personally put hundreds of hours of my own time and hard, legitimate work into this project. I am truly hurt and disgusted to see the fraud that has come from others. I hope the community can see this situation for what it is, that I have been honest from the beginning, and am doing what I can to make amends of this wrong doing. I started this project as a learning experience, and it turned into fraud when others became involved. The internet is full of scammers and people who serve no purpose but to cause havoc. This was my first time getting involved in a “community” type project, and I was shocked to see some of the support I was receiving, and how generous people were. It turns out it was all lies and stolen content. I’m not sure how else to handle a situation like this, so I am simply shutting it down and releasing the honest truth.”
I think it’s a real shame that such a fantastic mod with a great creator has been forced to shut down the project due to people submitting illegitimate content. However, Josh has now said that he will be releasing a new version of the mod under a new title in the next few months.
Once again, the PC gamers out there, myself included, will have to wait. The online component for Metal Gear is here at last, but alas it is only on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Of course, this isn’t bad news, as there are a lot of gamers out there who will be happy to get their hands on this new content! The good news is, the PC version will benefit from extra development time, bringing graphical improvements and more when it finally lands in January.
“All console version METAL GEAR ONLINE servers are now up and running, and a download patch for METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN is already available. The online component is visible from the main game’s menu, allowing users to experience multiplayer action within the main game’s stunning open world locations.” Said Konami
The squad-based competitive multiplayer mode is a welcome addition to this already spectacular blockbuster, and it’s certainly nice to see a developer focus on the single player component first, rather than sidelining it for a tacked-on multiplayer mode.
“The online element introduces Tactical Team Operations and features a ‘class system’ that more uniquely defines the strengths and abilities of player characters on the battlefield.”
As a bonus, the Collector’s Edition content codes are now available for use, giving access to the gold WU S, Pistol and AM MRS-4 weapons, an XP Boost and a Metal Gear Rex Helmet. Day One edition owners can also access their XP Boost content.
Grand Theft Auto 5 was one of the biggest games of 2014. With both a storyline covering three different people, an online world (eventually) and even the ability to load in custom mods to change your offline experience. But what happens when those mods come with little easter eggs or rather viruses?
Firstly we have to thank the forum user aboutseven, if it wasn’t for their observational skills we might not have noticed these issues for a while now. Thanks to a keen eye aboutseven noticed that a C# compiler was hiding in the running processes on their computer. Titled “Fade.exe” the program was even using internet access! Fake.exe turns out to have actually been a keylogger, a malicious program which often copies and records what you type into your computer before sending it over the internet. This means someone could easily log into your accounts.
In this instance two mods, titled “Noclip” and “Angry Planes”, are responsible for this nasty piece of programming. Sites have been quick to distance themselves from these mods, taking the option to quickly remove them rather than face the backlash of hosting viruses. The first thing that you should do, if you have installed these mods, is remove the mods and do a virus scan. Once you have done these, change all your passwords (best to remove the keyloggers before you change your password right?).
It’s always best to do regular virus scans and be careful with what your downloading but when people are putting viruses into our sacred mods what will come of the modding community that makes PC games last for years beyond their release?

One of the most famous mods for Grand Theft Auto IV was easily iCEnhancer, it brought incredible realism to the game with improved lighting and post processing effects, to name but a few of the tweaks it offered. Now the developer behind it has released the first details of how the GTA V version of this mod is progressing and it’s very impressive what has been done in just a few short weeks.
iCEnhancer released the following update via Facebook:
“The first timecycle mod for GTA V. I did that quickly though and blindly but it’s already pretty cool for the future.
I removed the DOF weird noise shit during player transition and weapon changing, reduced the fog amount, i hated it, removed the blurry background, changed the sun color to something more neutral, less brown. changed the water, and removed the post effects for each character (as you may know, each character in V has their own post-processing).
Of course we can do more but it’s a start and mostly was a test with zzcool to see what we could change using unreleased OpenIV.
GTA V TC has a lot of controls, you can change so much and it’s cool, everyone can do their own tastes easily with it. Except to see weird stuff though from some people that I know haha. :-p
But yeah, might be time I start to play the PC version a little more then.
Check out the gallery below to see how great the game is looking with the currently pre-alpha mod.
The team also released the following two videos, which show how the fog has been removed from the game, water reflections have been improved, colours have been improved and more.
Given the mod is still pre-alpha, it’s already looking very impressive and we can’t wait to get our hands on the first release! We’ll update you as soon as we have more information.
As Rockstar was banning the players who were using mods (modification like FOV mod ) on both Single-player and Multiplayer mode of Grand Theft Auto : V. This resulted in making the gaming community quite unhappy. Players found using mods were banned for a period of 2 weeks. However, it seems that Rockstar partially fixed the situation. In a new Q&A on the Rockstar Newswire, a GTA 5 developer confirmed that players will not be banned for using single-player mods. There will not be any ban till the modification stays in action in just single-player mode.
However, Rockstar says they can’t assure that mods will not be broken by updates. They did make sure that as long as it doesn’t cross into GTA Online, the multiplayer mode of GTA V, players are safe to mod their game. Here is the full statement.
“We have always appreciated the creative efforts of the PC modding community and we still fondly remember the awesome zombie invasion mod and original GTA map mod for GTAIV PC among many other classics. To be clear, the modding policy in our license has not changed and is the same as for GTAIV. Recent updates to GTAV PC had an unintended effect of making unplayable certain single player modifications. This was not intentional, no one has been banned for using single player modifications, and you should not worry about being banned or being relegated to the cheater pool just for using single player PC mods. Our primary focus is on protecting GTA Online against modifications that could give players an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing. It also bears mentioning that because game mods are by definition unauthorized, they may be broken by technical updates, cause instability, or affect your game in other unforeseen ways.”
This is an excellent move by Rockstar. I’m going in Los Santos to enjoy mods. Play Safe, do not use mods that messes with GTA Online. Let us know your views in comments section.
So Grand Theft Auto V has been out for over a week now and prices have seemed to stand around the £33 mark.
GTA V is that massive game, in terms of map size and hype, that has taken the world by storm. It was originally released back in 2013 for the Xbox 360 and PS3, then re-released on the XB1 and PS4 and now, around 16 months on; we see it on the PC.
It wasn’t long before users started seeing issues, some starting the minute the game was released due to baE install files and folders; this did require some users having to delete and restart the 60GB download again; news story can be found here. Along with that, one of the biggest games of 2015 may attract some unwanted attention and it did; in the form of hackers taking control of numerous GTA V accounts; full story can be found here.
So what about the gamers that want the game, but are holding out for updates and a better offer? We are hosting a competition to win a steam game of your choice, that includes GTA V, just follow this link, sign up to our forums and tell us what game you want here.
If you can’t wait for the draw, fear not as the game has now dropped to below £30 for the digital download. GameStop is offering GTA V for £29.97 with the additional $1,200,000 in-game cash amount. So what are you waiting for? Go buy it here.
Grand Theft Auto V was released on Tuesday, along with that, NVIDIA has released yet another Game Ready Driver. However this time, AMD has decided to release one too, both offering optimised graphical drivers for most of their graphics card range.
Normally, we would only test a single driver and graphics card manufacturer, but because this is oriented towards GTA V performance, things are going to get a little more condensed.
Today we are going to be looking at seven of the top graphics cards from NVIDIA and AMD, pitting them against each other to see which performs the best in GTA V, under our own choice of settings of course.
So it was only a matter of time before this happened, but just 2 days to add support for an Oculus Rift to work in GTA V is a massive achievement.
The most anticipated game release of the year so far, maybe of the year as a whole has only been out since Tuesday, but already some avid gamer and mad hacker has already managed to add a mod to the game that allows support from the popular Virtual Reality (VR) headset, Oculus Rift.
GTA V is such an immersive game, with one of the biggest roaming maps available and such a diverse and varied environment, it is crying for some first person action. Now luckily for this guy, GTA V has been given first person support, so really adding in the VR headset into the game wouldn’t be too difficult, just adding the movement sensor code into the game really. However, I don’t have the coding knowledge to do so, so kudos to this guy for doing it and doing so quickly.
Here’s a little video of how it looks.
It does look like a professional job, with great reaction timing. All we need now is one of those guns from back in the day to be hooked up for a more immersive experience.
Would you be interested in playing GTA V like this? What are you views on VR technology? Let us know on our forums and in the comments.

OK most of those errors will probably never affect most of us, if they do; they’re probably a very easy reboot fix. I personally have been looking for fixes and so far none have worked, some claim to work, but are spam with stupid browser add-ons. I personally advise biting the bullet and re-installing the entire game, or waiting for an official response from Rockstar.
Are you experiencing any issues with your GTA V game? Did you pre-load? Which client did you use to download it? Let us know in the comments.
So NVIDIA have been on the ball lately, new games released recently have been covered by a new driver to maximise compatibility with the GeForce graphics cards.
Keep the trend going, NVIDIA have released a new driver GeForce 350.12 WHQL ready for GTA V in a few hours. It is a fairly hefty download of 283 MB, but it replaces older drivers, so don’t freak out if GTA has taken up all of your available space. The new driver covers almost every NVIDIA GeForce graphics card, all the way back to the GT 420; so almost everyone can enjoy the game; albeit not at 60FPS. The driver can be found here!
Now, even though this is a specific GTA V driver, it also adds a few more benefits such as added and improved SLI support for games such as Project Cars and Assassins Creed: Rogue. Along with the new additions it also fixes some issues from the previous driver, the main being Kelper bases graphics card crashes during Battlefield Hardline gaming sessions.
Are you itching to get your game on? Just a few hours left now people (midnight GMT). Get your coffee, pep pills and munchies sorted, there are going to be a few all nighters tonight.
Ahh Rockstar, the brand everyone knows thanks to Grand Theft Auto (GTA). Well it seems that they have been playing PC gamers for fools with very sporadic information regarding the PC release. Obviously it is coming to the PC, with its launch date in just two days (14th April US), but let’s see how the story progressed.
During a recent interview with PCGamer, Rockstar claimed it was always going to bring GTA V to PC.
“We planned from day 1 for a PC build and we made technical decisions based off the fact that we would be doing a PC version of the game. While we started development of the PC version quite early, we decided to focus the bulk of our attention on the PS3 and XB360 versions first in order to push that as far as we possibly could.”
But this contradicts what was initially claimed by Rockstar way back in October 2012.
“For those asking about the PC platform, we’re currently focused on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game and don’t have any details to share about a PC version at this time.”
So with the release of such a massively anticipated game around the time where the next generation consoles were soon to be released, really pushing current gen (XBOX 360 and PS3) was at the forefront of their marketing campaign. The game was always planned for PC, so development started early; almost in line with the development of the console versions. The same interview with PCGamer proven this.
“The process of bringing GTA 5 to PC was most similar to our last PC title, Max Payne 3. Our process of bringing titles to PC has evolved over the years. We knew that we would eventually create a PC version so early development was done in parallel with the console versions. In fact, some of the early preparations we made for PC, like 64 bit & DX11 support, paid off very handsomely when the PS4 and Xbox One architectures were announced.”
So does this mean that the PC version isn’t a console port? Much better playability from launch with 100% support from graphics card vendors? let’s hope so.
Have you pre-loaded GTA V yet? Let us know on our forums and in the comments.
Yesterday we brought you news of the new Grand Theft Auto V trailer, which was pretty exciting to say the least. Now it seems that the second trailer has found its way online, showing off the online components for the upcoming blockbuster.
The video comes directly from the Rockstar Russian YouTube channel, so it’s certainly legit and we expect a global release of the video over the next few hours. Fortunately, the audio is in English, with just some Russian subs coded into the video.
The game is already at fever pitch with the gaming community, after being delayed on PC for longer than I care to count. New graphics, new features and a whole lot more cool stuff is on it’s way.
Are you ready to play GTA V on your PC? Check the official system requirements here.
Rockstar Games has just released its latest update for the Grand Theft Auto V title, the 1.07 Patch. It is said to currently be available for download on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Take note that the same patch is available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as Patch 1.21.
Taking a look at what the patch brings, we see that it’s mainly focused on Grand Theft Auto Online, hence the Grand Theft Auto Online Heist title. It comes with some minor fixes and improvements, but the most important features included are:
Heists are a new type of gameplay experience inside GTA Online – massive, multi-layered, 4-player co-operative missions that encourage players to work together and make the most of their individual strengths, and a team’s level of communication and coordination can make or break each mission.
Heists unlock at Rank 12 for players with a high-end apartment. They are started by a call from Lester and a visit to his garment factory. Please note there is a short delay between each Heist, but Lester will be in touch when the next Heist is ready. You can replay Heist strands by calling Lester using the “Request Heist” option.
For a complete list of what the new patch brings, you can head over to Rockstars website here.
Thank you NextPowerUp for providing us with this information
Rockstar Games has announced that the release of Grand Theft Auto V for the PC will be delayed again, this time until April 14th. The developer also announced today that Online Heists will now be coming to the console versions on March 10th.
This news marks the third delay to the PC port of the game, sparking anger amongst many PC gamers who have been holding out for it. It’s especially annoying considering the fact that the game was released for consoles back in September 2013 – 17 months ago.
GTAV for PC will be arriving on April 14th at retail and as a digital download. Our apologies to PC gamers worldwide who have been counting down the days until the launch of the game, but a bit more time is needed to ensure that the game is as polished as possible, and to make certain that both Heists and the GTA Online experience are ready to roll out on day one for PC. As a gesture of thanks for your understanding, we will grant anyone who has pre-ordered the game an additional $200,000 in-game cash for use in GTA Online. – Rockstar Games
The question now of course, will this be the last delay?
We’re all used to stunt montages from GTA, but not bird stunt montages. It was with the ‘enhanced’ version of GTA V on the PS4 and Xbox One that Rockstar included the ability to play as a bird and it seems that one YouTuber has really taken that under his wing.
In this video, 8-bit Bastardon YouTube shows us through a number of hair-raising (for birds) stunts. Plus, there’s some of the more everyday bird activities, such as riding the roof of a train.
There’s a lot of these videos nowadays. Kids, teens and old people get sat in front of a game, piece of old or new technology, an outrageous YouTube video, or pretty much anything else that’ll get an interesting reaction, and they’re just asked to say what they think about it.
Well this time, the latest ‘REACT’ video features a bunch of elderly people attempting to get Michael De Santa to walk. There’s more to it obviously, but a lot of it is just about getting him to walk.
See it and their hilarious reactions for yourself in the video bellow.
We’ve seen a number of movie parodies created with GTA. Most recently we shared that clever recreation of the new Star Wars movie trailer. Now ‘GTA Series Videos’ has put this together – six whole minutes of famous scenes from Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange.
It’s incredible how this has been put together. The console versions of the game don’t necessarily allow for any sort of modifications, so this must have been quite a lengthy process for the 12+ team of players who put it together.
Another delay? Yes indeed, Rockstar Games has just announced that GTA V for PC will now be released 2 months later than planned on March 24, 2015. In return for delivering this bombshell, the developer has released some screenshots; something that probably won’t satisfy everyone’s complaints, especially considering the screenshots are from a game that has been available on other platforms for over a year.
“Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be. Moving a release date is never a decision we take lightly and is a choice we make only when we know it is in the best interests of the game and our fans. Thanks everyone for your understanding and we assure you these few extra weeks will be worth it when the game does arrive in March.” – Rockstar Games
They posted some details of specs, minimum and suggested hardware requirements as well as that the PC version will run “at 1080p and 60fps with up to 4K resolution and support for up to triple monitor configurations, as well as NVidia 3D Vision for up to triple monitor setups.”
As expected, there has been a bit of a backlash in the comments beneath Rockstar’s news release, with many complaining that Rockstar has too much of a habit of delaying things. Well just incase you find yourself fuming in response to this news, perhaps this quote from the legend that is Shigeru Miyamoto might calm you down a little.
“A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.” – Shigeru Miyamoto
Someone attempted to recreate the Star Wars trailer in GTA V. Now of course, without making any modifications to the game, you’d think that would be a pretty difficult task.
Well Powerlight-13 on YouTube didn’t think so and rather creatively reproduced the entire trailer using only in-game characters and vehicles. It all comes together quite well, but we’ll leave you to decide whether the plane at the end bears any resemblance to the Millennium Falcon.
I’ve avoided buying Grand Theft Auto V simply because there wasn’t a doubt in my mind that the game would be ported to PC eventually, I wanted my first experience of this title to be one of pure awesomeness, and to help me justify my efforts on building a new high-end gaming PC.
The team at Rockstar are pulling out all the stops on this project, having already exceeded themselves with what is possible on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, they’re now promising “across-the-board graphical and technical improvements to deliver a stunning new level of detail. Increased draw distances, finer texture details, denser traffic, and enhanced resolutions”.
Gamers on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC will also be treated to new wildlife, an upgraded weather system, new damage effects and “an array of new details to discover”.
Not only that, but all the content, gameplay, weapons, jobs and more that has been released for the game so far will be available to the new editions too, but PC gamers will also get to reap the benefits of an exclusive video editor.
Thank you TweakTown for providing us with this information.
When it comes to working out the specification of your new gaming system or when you’re looking to boost the performance of your existing setup, memory and storage are two of the easiest and most cost-effective ways of getting the most out of what you’ve got. Since the launch of the solid state drive only a few years back, we’ve seen desktop performance rocket up to a whole new level and as the processors and graphics cards progress to new heights, the memory kit is for most of the time forgotten about or underestimated. Whereas selecting the right graphics card for example is pretty easy, selecting the right memory kit for your needs is not as clear cut. When we take every memory kit that is on offer on the market (as well as the SSDs )and throw it all into one basket, the number of hardware combinations and possibilities, as well as price points that there are to choose from is monumental. With such a huge number of products on offer, how are you sure that the kit you’re choosing is the right one for you?
One way of filtering out the select products that would be suitable for your system would be to look around the review sites such as ourselves, where we show you some of the latest performance, mid-range and budget options that there are on the market, giving you an idea of what product you want to be ordering next. Whilst this is all fair and well, we have to be fair and honest and say that not everyone is going to want to go through piles and piles of reviews to see what is best for their needs, either because of the time it takes to read reviews, or because they’re not that technically minded. We therefore see numerous users taking to our forums to ask what would be the best drive or memory kit for them to get for their system for XYZ price bracket, but what if there was an even easier option out there which could guide you through the selection process, showing you only the products which are best suited for your needs; a user with a gaming motherboard would ideally like a gaming memory kit to compliment the performance, whilst a typical home office user may want a budget kit which does what it needs to without burning a hole in the wallet.
Fortunately though Kingston have been busy working away over the last few months to develop a massive database of every motherboard, server, notebook and more; after which they individually select which of their memory kits and SSDs is best suited for that particular users needs with the option on offer to then purchase the hardware directly from Kingston and have it delivered to your door. These selection pages don’t just cover the Windows platform, as Apple systems more commonly than not use very similar desktop components to those used in the rest of the market, we find Kingston offering up a good range of suitable kits for Mac users.
With the next generation of motherboards and processors only a short time away now, the time to upgrade is also very close and if you’re not too sure on how to actually do the upgrade, fear not as Kingston have also got you covered. In addition to the massive web database and product selection tools, they also have a library of setup guides and videos on offer which take you through the upgrade process step-by-step, clearing any doubts or worries that you may be doing something wrong. With technology so far advanced compared to where it was a number of years ago, it is actually far easier to upgrade your system than it used to be.
Kingston don’t just supply the retail market with components, they also cover the OEM market, providing a number of manufacturers products for direct use in their systems and to reflect this, Kingston also list the relevant upgrade kits for each of their OEM partners. Here are just a few of Kingston’s partners:
So if you’re a budding enthusiast who wants to know that they are giving their system the very best, or a non-technically minded home user who wants some guidance, head over to Kingston’s Memory and Storage Search Page where you can find the right product and how to get the best out of your system – oh and did I mention that this information and help is TOTALLY FREE? Surely that deserves us giving Kingston a huge thank you to making your tech experience as good as possible.
In less than 4 months we will be able to play GTA V, unless of course you are a PC Gamer. Rockstar has yet to announce a date for the PC Version of GTA 5, or if PC users will be given the same versions of the game with special content like the console users.
