Windows 10 May Be Removing Programs Without Telling You

Windows 10 is designed to be the next step for Microsoft’s operating system, with internet functions built-in alongside apps and new gaming technologies designed to help users make the choice to move that little bit easier. With Windows 10 now a recommended update you would expect that some users would be hopeful of the new operating system, something that may not be the case if it keeps removing programs from your system without telling you.

So the major benefit of the internet is that you can quickly update your system, no longer do you have to wait weeks for the latest security patch or game update as you can quickly update anything you need or download something entirely new within hours or even minutes. It may come as a surprise then with groups like LifeHacker noticing that some programs they have on their system seem to be removed after doing an update. In this case, they found the system information tool Speccy had been removed, giving you only an empty file icon and a question of why?

The current theory is that it is removing outdated apps and drivers when it does an update, a good theory but still one that should worry people. Hopefully, this is not an intentional feature, otherwise, users could soon find their programs and software removed from the system, finding out only days later when they need them the most.

I’ve yet to upgrade to Windows 10 personally, and with “features” like this, I can’t say I will be anytime soon.

Windows 10 Fall Update Removes Apps and Drivers At Will!

Updates are supposed to fix issues or add new features, but it looks like Microsoft is going the other way with their big Fall update for Windows 10. Okay, this is probably not intended but it is what’s happening. The thread about it on Reddit is growing steadily with users reporting not only apps disappearing, but also important drivers such as Intel RST that effectively can render your installation useless.

Among the applications being reported automatically uninstalled are popular monitor tools such as CPU-Z and HW-Monitor, but Piriform’s Speccy is also affected and being uninstalled just as Spybot and several VPN-Clients. These tools, except the VPN client, are minor and can quickly be reinstalled, but something as important as RAID drivers should never ever just be uninstalled by an update.

I’m pretty sure that this is a temporary issue, but Microsoft has yet to officially acknowledge the issues with Windows 10 version 1511. This also means that you might want to hold off updating your system with the latest patches if you’re one of the millions that already made the switch to Windows 10.

Have you experienced any trouble yourself with the newest update or are you happy with Microsoft latest operating system. Let us know in the comments.

Google Photos App Continues to Sync Photos After Uninstall

One might think that an application would stop with the uploading and synchronizing of files when you uninstall it, but not so with the Google Photos App as David Arnott, a journalist at Nashville Business Journal, recently discovered.

After downloading and testing the Google Photos App, he decided that it wasn’t for him and uninstalled it again, expecting it to actually be removed and stop its functionality. But he discovered months later when visiting the online version of Photos that it didn’t and it had continued to upload and synchronize photos of him, his family, and other snapshots taken.

And where do you take out frustrations on developers, you do that on twitter; and so did David Arnott. In a series of five tweets, he posted his problem.

Google responded to Arnott in an Email, stating that “the backup was as intended” and that the settings would have to be turned off in the phone’s Google Play Services settings. In contrast to other application, Google Photos’ settings are connected with the Google Play Services where Google Play keeps Google Photos’ settings even after it is removed and continues to sync your files.

This surely can’t be right, it just isn’t appropriate for a service to continue to upload your personal photos to the cloud after you uninstalled it.

Quick Fix For “Unable To Download Facebook App.” When Trying To Download Update

Facebook’s latest iOS 7 update is experiencing some issues when attempting to download the new released version. After being updated, many users are reporting that they are unable to download Facebook app and it’s been crashing on the launch. Today, an updated version v6.7.1 was released with bug fixes, however, many users are simply unable to download Facebook app update from the App Store.

The error “Unable to Download App. “Facebook” could not be downloaded at this time.” shows up when you try to update Facebook on iOS. Similar error also shows up when you try updating it from iTunes on the desktop which is giving “There was a problem downloading the artwork for Facebook.” error message. These both errors confirm that something is definitely going wrong with the iOS 7 Facebook app. However, it is unsure if the issue is at the end of Facebook or some problem with Apple’s App Store.

If you are one of those users who are unable to use Facebook when download failed on you, a very quick fix is to delete the Facebook app and reinstall it again from the App Store. The Facebook app will be downloaded, but without the update. Do not attempt to download the update again as it will just hit the issue described above again. Instead, iOS users should wait for a fix to be available for this issue before proceeding with the update again.
