The Crystal Maze is Coming Back!

Do you remember back to when times were good? No impending doom or missile attacks or bomb threats, just sat down around a TV and watching a random group of people humiliate themselves while you sit at home and gloat that you could have done it better. Yes, I am talking about that old gem (pun intended) that is The Crystal Maze. I used to sit at home on a Sunday afternoon watching re-runs while removing the similar fake crystal curtain pole ends to pretend with.

The show was all about conquering the crystal maze with as many crystals (and contestants) as possible. The more crystals equalled more time and more people meant a higher chance of catching golden tickets in the final round. To get to the final round, a small team had to take on multiple challenges based in four different sections of “The Crystal Maze”. Each section would be similar to the others, but with a dissimilar theme; including Industrial, Aztec, Futuristic and Medieval.

The show finally came to and end in 1995 when the show wasn’t renewed for further seasons and the set remained unused and finally dismantled in 1999. That’s until some die hard fans took it upon themselves to start an IndieGoGo campaign to bring the show back to life. The trio launched the campaign in hopes to get just £500,000, but the public saw this and donated a huge £933,000 to make sure this happens.

Why such a big threshold? Well it’s not for a TV show, this time you can purchase a £50 ticket and run amock in the authentic remade set with Richard O’Brien narrating in certain spots and he may even be your host. It is being rebuilt in a secret part of London which is “easily accessible” according to the FAQ, let’s hope it doesn’t stay secret for much longer.

This is probably something a portion of our readers won’t actually know what we’re on about with this, so for those who are interested here is a video of the first episode, enjoy!

Tickets for Dota 2 The International Sold Out in a Record-Breaking Six Minutes

The biggest eSports event of the year, Dota 2 “The International”, is approaching and fans are getting really excited for the even. Possibly too excited.

The previous tournament took place in Key Arena, Seattle, between July 18th and 21st. The tickets have sold in less than an hour, so fans were urged to be quick on buying a ticket sine then. But nobody expected all the tickets for this year’s event to be sold in… six minutes?

It is said that this year’s tournament will be held in the same Key Arena in Seattle, but in August this time around. The lucky people who were fast enough to buy a ticket are likely to be eagerly looking forward to the start of the tournament.

The Last of Us Announces its Theatrical Performance

It looks like the casting crew from the popular survival adventure title, The Last of Us, a production made by Naughty Dog, are reuniting next week to perform a special theatrical show. The Last of Us: One Night Live show is said to feature Troy Baker (Joel), Ashley Johnson (Ellie), Merle Dandridge (Marlene), Hana Hayes (Sarah) and Annie Wersching (Tess), having Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann directing the whole thing. News has it that even Gustavo Santaolalla, the Oscar-winning composer, will be also performing parts of his work put in the game.

The location of the even is said to be at Broad Stage in Santa Monica. having a date set for Monday the 28th of July. The show’s date seems to be in accordance with the upcoming launch of The Last of Us Remastered for PlayStation 4, which is no surprise. We have seen many companies do the same thing for their products in the past. Also, even if you can’t make it there (which you really can’t even if you wanted to unless you have pre-ordered your ticket ages ago), the performance is said to be streamed live via Twitch, YouTube and PlayStation Network. Having that said, the show is said to start at 7pm Pacific Time / 10pm Easter Time or 3am here in the UK.
