Nintendo Land to Open in 2020

You either love them or you hate them. No, I am not talking about Marmite sandwiches, but rather theme park rides. From the ones where you walk through and experience jumps and scares to the rides where your legs dangle as it throws you through twists and turns. However, even if you don’t like theme parks, but you do enjoy Nintendo, you may want to start planning a trip to Nintendo Land in 2020.

Universal Studios was granted the rights to use some of Nintendo’s many rights for theme parks a while ago, but aside from these hints, there was not much else to go by except rumours. It has now been confirmed that “Nintendo Land” will be “on par with the likes of Universal’s Harry Potter-themed zone but focus entirely on everyone’s favorite Italian plumber”. That is correct, you could soon see Mario, Peach, Luigi and Yoshi on a series of rides and experiences that will please adults and children alike. The location of this attraction is going to be a little bit of distance for some people, opening in Mario’s backyard of Tokyo. With its initial opening timeline set for 2020, you will get to experience the Olympics and Mario all in one fell swoop. If this seems like a gimmick then you might be wrong given that Universal have put up ¥40 billion (roughly £247 million pounds) to the venture.

Star Wars Lands Coming Soon

I cannot quite believe the concept artwork for the proposed announcement by Disney that it is planning to build two huge Star Wars themed attractions at its Disneyland and Walt Disney World resort theme parks.

Want to see why this might be too good to be true? Below are three images which have been tagged “Artist Concept Only”  I believe these parks will be built, but I am not quite sure they will look as amazing as these illustrations.  Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced at the D23 EXPO 2015 that Star Wars-themed lands will be coming to Disneyland park in Anaheim, California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida.  This project will be giant in scale as the attractions will be spread and created at 14-acres each, this will be Disney’s largest single-themed land expansions.

These authentic attractions or lands as Disney is coining them, will have two signature attractions, these will include the ability to take the controls of the Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle. Other information to be noted from this announcement includes that the park will apparently be staffed and occupied by local inhabitants, which sounds authentic.

Disney have yet to clarify as to when this park will actually open, my guess is it will be a while considering the size of the construction project. If these concept artwork are genuinely accurate then even I, who has never watched Star Wars, pause for castigation, will want to attend. Disney’s grand notion of being “The Most Magical Place on Earth” if this park turns out the same as the concepts, then the FBI will want to know where they found that magic from.

Minecraft Gets a Pip-Boy Gadget in New Post Apocalyptic Mod

A lot of hype has been going around with Bethesda’s new Fallout title. While fans eagerly await the official announcement of Fallout 4 and endlessly watch its newly released teaser trailer, you may also want to know that there is a new post-apocalyptic mod in the works for Minecraft that comes with a Pip-Boy. So if you want to get into the Fallout hype and are a Minecraft player, you may be interested in this new mod.

The mod, named Project Wasteland, received a video earlier this week. It showed what players would expect from it and how the Pip-Boy works in Minecraft’s world. From the looks of it, it really does seem pretty similar to Fallout’s version in terms of look and feel, as well as interaction.

There have been a few pics showing the mod’s post apocalyptic scenario, accompanied by a video that illustrates the day and night cycle of the environment. From my point of view, the mod really does have a lot of potential and strangely, by watching the video, it does make you feel more like in a Fallout game rather than in a Minecraft environment.

More detailed information about the mod is scarce at the moment, but its developers are bound to release more information soon. Maybe even before the official Fallout 4 announcement at E3. In the meantime, you can head on over to the mod’s forum page for more information. So what do you think? Will you give this mod a try?

Fallout 4 Gets Countdown Timer Ahead of E3

Bethesda just officially confirmed Fallout 4’s arrival ahead of their E3 announcement. The title has been granted a Fallout-themed countdown timer over at their website and it looks like they plan on revealing something this week.

While the timer has been set for 24 hours, this does not mean everything would be revealed this week. Bethesda may very well reveal bits and pieces to keep the hype going until it is finally revealed next week, on the 14th of June, at the E3 conference.

There have been rumours roaming around about certain aspects of the game, like the action taking place in Boston. However, nothing that can actually be confirmed surfaced so far. Fans have been overly excited since the first whim of Fallout 4 has been released, but the lack of information may have also been excruciating.

The last Fallout title has been released back in 2008, so a sequel set to release seven years apart is really something to look forward to. However, we still need to wait a bit longer to get what Bethesda has planned for this title. Until then, you can head on over to the countdown website and check out what they have to share with the rest of us once the timer runs out.

What is the Most Intagramed Place on Earth?

Why it’s “the happiest place on earth” – Disneyland of course! Yes, the original of Disney’s massively successful theme parks – Disneyland in Anaheim, California, is the most Instagramed place on earth.

The company released a list of places with the most images attributed to them in 2014 and the famous theme park took the top spot. The rest of the list, included bellow, gives some surprising locations, places you probably wouldn’t associate with Instagram, while there are others that are just plain obvious.

  1. Disneyland — Anaheim, Calif.
  2. Dodger Stadium — Los Angeles, Calif.
  3. Times Square — New York, NY
  4. Siam Paragon (shopping mall) — Bangkok, Thailand
  5. Gorky Park (amusement park) — Moscow, Russia

Paul McCartney Working With Bungie on ‘Destiny’ Theme

While many of you will be familiar with the ugly depute between Marty O’Donnell and Bungie, resulting in Marty leaving the Bungie team after many years loyal service and a history of some truly epic gaming musical scores. His work on Destiny so far has been incredible, with many early reviewers and gamers taking note of the stunning soundtrack that features within the game, but what a lot of people don’t know is that Marty had a little helping hand.

While is was kept largely quiet, Paul McCartney has been collaborating with Marty on the Destiny score, with the two working together on and off for the last for years.

Now the final fruit of this collaboration, as a final parting gift from the project, McCartney has written a “theme song” for the game, which he plans to release as a single after the game has launched. What content or lyrical aspects, singers or anything else this will contain remains to be seen, but it certainly sounds like it will be fairly unique.

The track is said to be fully-orchestrated, recorded at Abbey Road (where else) and the theme of the song is said to be “hope”. All ears towards September 9th when all will be revealed.

Warning: Latest HTC Sense Update Reportedly Screws Up Your Smartphone

If you have a HTC and already updated to the HTC Sense Version 6, then you might have already noticed your contacts deleted from both your phone and SIM, leaving the header on your text messages filled with numbers instead of names and your WhatsApp contact list empty. However, if you still haven’t updated to the latest HTC Sense rolled out over the weekend, our advice is to skip it until a fix is available.

Another issue related to the update has been described to be linked to the theme, having it default back to the Green Theme. This might not seem a major issue as you can go into the Settings and change it right back. Not this time apparently, having users reporting that although the theme changes, some loading bars and status messages will still appear in green, having it screw up the user’s preferred theme in some cases.

There have been discussions with HTC Customer Support regarding the ‘failed’ update, where they stated it is already being discussed and investigated. The customer support has also stated that nobody can roll back the smartphone in order to avoid the faulty update, meaning that users who already updated their HTC smartphones to HTC Sense Version 6 can only remain at the mercy of the company and their technical support.

Also, when asked about who was responsible for testing the update, the customer support team has pointed to the developers. This comes as a huge surprise since all software products, especially from big corporations such as HTC, must undergo strict testing cycles performed by a highly qualified Quality Assurance department in order to prevent such issues from occurring. However, HTC might have skipped this step (and we even wonder if they have such a department apparently).

What the HTC Sense 6 should have brought is an updated color palate and multiple themes for the UI, an updated interface and more news sources for the HTC BlinkFeed, an updated and simplified interface for the Camera, Galley and Apps Tray, as well as other features noted on HTC’s page. The company has not released any official news regarding the issues present in the update, nor stated when a fix would be available.

Tumblr Adds SSL, Makes You Choose Between XKit and SSL

Tumblr has reportedly implemented support for SSL security on its blogging platform, but apparently missed one big thing. To activate it by defaul. Yes, the security feature exist, but you have to manually turn it on yourself.

Even so, the security feature is extremely welcomed by users, especially nowadays when malware and hackers are roaming around in just about every corner of the internet. On top of that, Tumblr is also a Yahoo-owned application, and we all know what happened to Yahoo services recently… Therefore, manually enabling it is better than nothing, eh?

Taking a look at other applications such as Tumblr, we see that Twitter also applied the same strategy when it first launched its SSL features, having users manually enabling it at firs. So we can assume that Tumblr will make the feature active by default in the near future. And this is quite helpful when on public Wi-Fi or Internet connection, such as coffee shops and airports. Nobody wants someone snooping around on their connection.

To enable the setting, Tumblr expains that users need to go in the application’s Account Settings from the Dashboard, then find the SSL feature ‘switch’ and set it to be enabled. A reason impeding Tumblr from activating the SSL from the very start is due to XKit, which offers an enhanced user experience, giving uses extra features such as enhanced notifications, a better inbox, along with several tweaks, themes, navigation tools, and so on.

Tumblr also states that if your XKit disappears after enabling the SSL feature, it is because the XKit is not compatible with SSL connections at the moment, making you choose between it and SSL connection. A fix is stated to be on its way, but until then, it’s XKit vs. SSL. Decisions, decisions…
