Amongst his claims of controlling the outcome of Mexico’s election, Andrés Sepúlveda, a known hacker currently serving a 10-year sentence in prison for hacking Colombia’s 2014 presidential election, claims he was paid to ensure that Mexico’s Institutional Revolutionary (PRI) candidate won the country’s election back in 2012. Claiming to have hired a team of hackers he states that his team installed malware on the routers at the PRI main opponents headquarters, giving them access to emails, campaign schedules, and speeches before they were even complete.
Sepúlveda claims that using hand-written accounts and 30,000 twitter bots he used the obtained information to adjust the playing field, giving the PRI candidate the upper hand. If that wasn’t enough, Sepúlveda states that they used fake 3am calls from rivals to help dissuade voters on the eve of the election.
Noting that some of the candidates he has helped over the year may not even be aware of his actions or the illegal methods used to obtain their upper hand, Sepúlveda now works on behalf of the government to help “track and disrupt drug cartels” as well as using his twitter skills to identify ISIS recruits on the social media site.
With a full account of his tale, Bloomberg has shared Sepúlveda’s story and have tried to validate what they can, including an anonymous source who “substantially confirmed Sepúlveda’s accounts” regarding the political consultant Juan José Rendón.
Google is not one to shy away from experimenting with new features and thanks to someone’s keen eyes they’ve even spotted that you could see twitter like posts in your google searches.
Similar to their mobile “cards”, you could soon see the adverts appear when you search for certain things, letting you swipe to another related piece of news or “card”, tapping it would, in turn, reveal more information and possibly a link to its source. The twitter-like feed was spotted by search expert Mike Blumenthal, who was in the process of searching for engagement ring stores in Buffalo, New York when he noticed a stream of jewelers posts. Tapping on one of the cards opened a full-screen web page, with text and photos galore.
With a similar project, Google Posts, letting the presidential campaign in the US share their latest news and policy announcements, it may not be long before Google adopt this new tool on their search engine permanently.
The full page feature reminds me of Facebook’s latest version of Notes. Could it be that google is looking to integrate more social networking-like features into their search engine? With the ability to “like” links or prioritise links from certain sources, you could customise what you see when you do everyday searches.
Grand Theft Auto V is one of the most successful games of all time and has a huge following across various platforms including PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Rockstar’s ability to create a vibrant, entertaining world and larger than life characters is a magical formula with endless replayability. GTA IV’s overly serious tone was fairly polarizing and many fans of the open world genre struggle to replay the game for long periods. In contrast to this, GTA V’s dark humour, and dynamic between three very different characters is fantastic and creates such a wonderful experience.
Now that the game has been out for some time, players are yearning for a new story via downloadable content. However, according to Ned Luke, who voices Michael, this might not be happening for some time, and isn’t really on Rockstar’s agenda:
“EVERYBODY wants single player DLC…I know NOTHING about that. Don’t know when it’s gonna happen or even IF it’s gonna happen. But I do know the boyz are gonna try to get out to some conventions this year so we can finally meet so many of our fans that we have been unable to meet in the past.”
Either that, or he’s contractually obliged to not disclose any information about future DLC. This makes sense given the industry’s use of embargoes to protect against unwanted leaks. As a single player gamer, I’d love to see Rockstar focus on a new story-driven campaign as the online aspect of GTA V doesn’t really interest me. On the other hand, the multiplayer is extremely popular and might be a more profitable venture as the costs of voice recording and new cut-scenes is very expensive. Whatever the case, I’m sure Rockstar has something planned to expand the game’s longevity.
Are you a fan of GTA Online, or would you prefer to see some story DLC?
Star Citizen is not only one of the most crowd funded games in history but is easily one of the most anticipated, with the ability to go from piloting a ship and ordering your friends to pilot the ships turrets to boarding and fighting your way through someone else’s ship as a group, eventually taking it over. Piloting, trading and boarding, Star Citizen looks to be an all-encompassing space game. While we await this game we shouldn’t forget the single player campaign, titled Squadron 42, and I doubt after the recent revelations regarding it, we will be able to forget it again.
Set for a release in 2016, Squadron 42 will see its players take the role of a UEE Navy combat pilot, letting you fight both in space and on land as you build everything from your character to the relationships you have with others characters aboard a large Capital Ship.
To bring life to the story, Star Citizen has hired none other than Gary Oldman, Mark Hamil, Gillian Anderso and Andy Serkis among some of many to bring life to the universe. If you were wondering just how awesome that would make the game, find Gary Oldman’s character, Admiral Bishop, explaining the world you are about to fly into.
Bethesda has confirmed Fallout 4 will feature a humongous storyline containing more dialogue than Fallout 3 and Skyrim combined. This is an astonishing feat given the detailed and expansive environments which were paramount to both Fallout 3 and Skyrim’s narrative. It’s difficult to comprehend how the 111,000 lines of dialogue will pan out and if the voice acting refers mainly to leading characters or obscure NPCs. The dialogue was amassed over many years and has the potential to offer the most enriching story ever devised in a video game.
Unfortunately, Erik Todd Dellums, who voiced Three Dog from Fallout 3 will not be returning and didn’t record any lines. This is a real shame and would have created a sense of synergy between Fallout 3 and its successor. Nevertheless, I’m fairly confident Fallout 4 will meet the expectation of its very passionate, and loyal community. Only time will tell, but early indications about the game evokes a great deal of enthusiasm. Graphically, it doesn’t look like a huge leap but mod support should help in this regard.
I’m pleased to see Bethesda slowly divulging information about the game through public social media channels. Currently, Fallout 4 is scheduled for release on November 10th 2015, and coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Hopefully, the PC version will be well-optimized and actually allow for official mod support.
The Tracking Board has reported that Insidious: Chapter 3 writer and director, Leigh Whannell has entered talks with Lionsgate to write and direct an adaptation of the popular game, borderlands.
The movie was described as a cross between Guardians of the Galaxy and Mad Max, the story depicts a bleak future in which an abandoned mining colony on a distant planet has created a lawless society. Then a nearby star’s powerful gravitational field unearths horrific alien creatures hiding deep below the surface, the surviving colonists retreat to a vault rumored to contain advanced alien technology.
The news was announced on Reddit earlier today, and since the post several Reddit users have posted their rather intriguing thoughts.
I’m really confused as to the point. The story sounds completely different from the games. It sounds like some kind of horror monster/alien movie. Once they’re in the vault is it going to turn into an action movie? Very confused. He does do some good stuff…but this sounds better not associated with borderlands at all and as a standalone. -Zolakar
I wouldn’t set your expectations high. Firstly, things move VERY slowly in the film industry. There were concept sketches of cars in Mad Max: Fury Road from 1999. Second, the film won’t play anything like the game. Sure the game has a story, but it was the development of the world that made it so great. The side-quests, NPC characters and whatnot.
I’d definitely like to see it made but I can’t help but feel that Borderlands lends itself better to a television adaptation rather than cinema. – Olkaml
The latest StarCraft title, Legacy of the Void, is said to be the closing story for the StarCraft 2 series. It was first announced at BlizzCon last year, but Blizzard did not mention when it will be released.
While Blizzard is known for taking its time with their titles, The Daily Dot gives some hope that the release date is close than expected. Their sources say that the closed beta for Legacy of the Void should be launched at the end of March or early April, pointing out that gaming press and esports organisations have been told to submit their requests for beta keys.
“It’s great timing for them. WCS Season 1 will be all but over and this will give players plenty of time to stream the beta and generate some excitement. As things stand the beta is pretty much ready to launch with the balance team just tweaking a few units.”
Blizzard stated that StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void will not be an expansion, but a standalone game. It is said to focus on the Protoss side of the story and should ultimately end the StarCraft 2 story as a whole.

A Halo mod for Arma 3 released by Foehammer Studios has just been released under the name of The Eridanus Insurrection. Its description tells us that the mod focuses on the civil war between the UNSC (United Nations Space Command) and the Insurrectionists, who are various groups of rebel factions within the human colonies.
The mod is said to add a multitude of factions, wider variety of weaponry and vehicles and a custom-made terrain for users to play on when the final version is released. Currently, the mod is at its 0.1 alpha stage and can be downloaded from here.
Halo fans should know that the mod will not include Covenants or Master Chief himself. Still, the idea itself seems promising!

Snapchat news is something that we’ve covered before, and it’s certainly something that you’re likely to see more and more of. It’s becoming an extremely popular application for sharing photos between our younger generations – allowing you to send a photo or video to a friend, with the media deleting itself in a short time-frame.
Recently, Snapchat introduced a feature which allowed users to add their own photos and videos to the “story” of an event – trialing this at Electric Daisy Carnival, Lollapalooza and other similar events.
They were reportedly “blown away” by the public response to this new addition, so now all snapchatters, not just attendees, have the ability to use the “Our Story” feature.
“You’ll notice today that there’s a new ‘Live’ section beneath your Recent Updates …That’s where you’ll be able to experience Stories contributed by the Snapchat community at all sorts of events. It’s a great way to check out what’s happening around the world.”
They went on to point out that this feature is their “favorite new product”. Unfortunately they made no mention of exactly what events will be put under this list and whether these events will be picked at random, or possibly even pay for the rights to be featured.
In a closing statement, they said:
“We were absolutely blown away when Snapchatters contributed over 350 hours of Snaps to Our Story during EDC, Rio, Outside Lands, and Lollapalooza,”
