Antec Officially Announced P380 Flagship Chassis

Antec announced the availability of the new P380 chassis, the latest addition to Antec’s award-winning Performance One series. The P380 isn’t just a stylish chassis, it is specially equipped to dampen system noise to the point that the computer is almost inaudible when the fans spin at a higher speed.

“The P380 is impressive not only because of its fine aesthetics and high-quality finish, but also because of its remarkable features,” said Jerome Francois, Sales Director Europe at Antec. “The chassis offers space and sufficient flexibility and design options to meet the high demands of gamers and enthusiasts, while ensuring a smooth running performance and best cooling performance.”

The case is compatible with SSI CEB, E-ATX, ATX, Micro ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards and two ergonomically positioned USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports as well as audio jacks are integrated into the aluminum front bezel. The case features a slim optical drive bay, three anti-vibration 3.5-inch drive cages (Eight 3.5″/2.5″ swappable drive bays in total). Parts of the HDD cages can be removed when more space is needed for longer graphics cards, all the way up to a length of 465 mm.

The P380 can fit up to seven fans: a 120 mm fan on the back, up to three 120 mm or two 140mm fans at the front and three 120mm or two 140 mm fans in the top panel. There is room for two 360mm water cooling radiators at front and on the top of the chassis.

The P380 is covered by a three-year guarantee on parts and labor and is available now for an MSRP of 209,00 €.

Lian Li Reveal PC-D600 Series Of Cases – Corsair Air 540 Competitor

Lian Li have just unveiled their latest chassis innovation the PC-D600 which is designed to be a competitor to Corsair’s Air 540 chassis. The PC-D600 was shown at Computex 2013 in June and unlike the Air 540D it uses two equally sized compartments rather than two compartments of different sizes.

The front I/O includes four USB 3.0 ports, power + reset buttons, hard drive and power LEDs and the usual HD audio ports. There are nine external 5.25 inch drive bay covers. The front has three 140mm intake fans with individual dust filters.

In the Lian Li PC-D600 the right holds the 3.5 inch cages for hard drives as well as two floor mounted 2.5 inch drive bays. The rest of the room in that right compartment can be filled by water cooling component such as a radiator, the largest size support is 420mm x 140mm ( a triple 140mm fan radiator) or a 360mm x 120mm (a triple 120mm fan radiator).

The left compartment contains the up to EATX-supporting motherboard tray that also supports SSI-CEB. This compartment also houses the power supply bay and three 140mm intake fans which can also house another 420mm radiator providing other components do not obstruct. Lian Li provides an abundance of cable management routing holes between the two compartments.

There is a pre-fitted 120mm exhaust fan at the rear along with 8 PCI brackets. Pricing and availability is not yet revealed by Lian Li.

ASUS P9X79-E WS LGA 2011 Motherboard Gets Launched

The ASUS WorkStation (WS) series of motherboards have taken off in popularity recently as they offer consumer platforms (such as LGA 1155/2011 with Z77/X79) but with workstation features and reliability. ASUS’ latest motherboard is no exception and they have just recently announced the P9X79-E WS motherboard for the LGA 2011 socket and X79 Intel chipset.

This new motherboard from ASUS is ready to tackle Intel’s Ivy Bridge-E processors that are coming in Q3-Q4 of this year. There will probably be a BIOS update required, although the boards may just come with “unadvertised” support for Intel’s Ivy Bridge-E CPUs. This motherboard uses the X79 chipset and an SSI-CEB form factor which measures in at 305 by 267mm. The LGA 2011 socket is powered by a healthy 10 phase VRM and has a 2+2 phase memory VRM (thats 2 phase for each memory allocation either side of the CPU socket).  These eight memory sockets support up to 64GB of memory in quad channel running up to DDR3 2133MHz.

Furthermore the motherboard has seven PCI Express X16 slots and supports 4 Way Nvidia SLI or AMD CrossFireX. Storage connectivity is relatively abundant with ten SATA ports of which six are SATA III 6Gbps and four are SATA II 3Gbps. Of the SATAs everything is provided by the PCH with the exception of four SATA III ports which are provided by a Marvell AHCI/RAID controller. There are also an additional two eSATA 6Gbps ports from an ASMedia controller. There are four USB 3.0 ports on offer from ASMedia controllers and there is dual Intel Gigabit LAN too. 8 Channel HD audio, a PS/2 port, an RS232 COM header and some overclocking BIOS features top off the rest of the connectivity. Apparently pricing for this unit is USD $499.99.

SilverStone Raven RV04 Chassis Revealed

SilverStone have revealed some pictures of their upcoming flagship computer case, the Raven RV04. The Raven RV04 is a clear evolution of its predecessor the RV03 featuring a more curved front design, yet it drops the highlights on the front that the RV03 used.

While the SilverStone RV03 featured a 90 degree rotated motherboard tray, the RV04 uses an upside down (180 degree rotation) motherboard tray. The motherboard tray supports ATX, E-ATX, SSI-EEB and SSI-CEB motherboards.

The SilverStone RV04 features two 5.25 inch bays, seven 3.5 internal bays and four 2.5 inch internal bays. Two of the 3.5 inch drive bays feature back planes to enable hot swapping. CPU cooler support is up to 165mm and PSU support up to 180mm. Graphics cards up to 337mm or 13.26 inches are supported, they can be as tall as 170mm or 6.69 inches.

The front panel uses USB 3.0 ports with an internal motherboard header and the usual audio jacks. Ventilation is provided by two front 180mm AP181 intake fans which operate up to 1200RPM with a noise rating of 34 dBA, a rear 120mm exhaust fan area is provided but no fan included.

The SilverStone RV04 measures in at  219mm (W) x 581mm (H) x 497mm (D) and weighs 10.9 kg. Construction materials are mainly steel and reinforced plastic. Two variants with be available, one with a “normal” opaque side panel (Product Number SST-RV04B) and one with an acrylic window side panel (Product Number SST-RV04B-W).
