NVIDIA Pascal to Enter Mass Shipments in July

Yesterday, we reported on AMD’s plans to supposedly launch their next graphics architecture, codenamed ‘Polaris’ in June. The details surrounding NVIDIA’s response with Pascal aimed at consumers was unknown but it seemed likely the range would arrive at a similar date. According to new information sourced by Digitimes, Pascal will be unveiled during Computex and enter mass shipments in July:

“The graphics card players will begin mass shipping their Pascal graphics cards in July and they expect the new-generation graphics card to increase their shipments and profits in the third quarter.”

Interestingly, the report claims that AMD might only unveil the Polaris range in June, and shipments could occur at a later date. Apparently, NVIDIA will have the advantage and be the first company to release their new line-up to the public:

“Meanwhile, AMD has prepared Polaris-based GPUs to compete against Nvidia’s Pascal; however, the GPUs will be released later than Nvidia’s Pascal and therefore the graphics card players’ third-quarter performance will mainly be driven by demand for their Nvidia products.”

Thankfully, both graphics card manufacturers look set to release brand new products and I cannot wait to see the performance improvements and pricing across various tiers. AMD appears to be focussing on performance per watt on Polaris and the demonstrations thus far have been impressive. Sadly, we haven’t really seen anything from NVIDIA’s new consumer line-up, so it will be fascinating when the samples finally arrive. It’s still unknown which products will opt for HBM2, if any. It’s clear that the majority of models from both companies are set to utilize GDDR5X. While this isn’t a patch on HBM2, it’s a good improvement from the older GDDR5 standard.

Recently, there were some murmurings about NVIDIA delaying mainstream Pascal under 2017. This doesn’t look like the case at all, and if anything, reports suggest they will be the first to market.

Gears of War 4 Release Date Confirmed

The Gears of War franchise has rapidly become one of Microsoft’s most successful exclusives and gained popularity for its no-nonsense, frantic action. Instead of trying to implement a heartfelt story with dramatic twists, the intense gameplay has always been the series’ main attraction. While it’s not necessarily a system seller like Halo or Forza, it’s certainly a great addition to the Xbox’s line-up. In a post on Xbox Wire, Adam Fletcher, Director of Community from the Coalition announced the release date of Gears of War 4. Here is the statement in full:

“Gears fans, mark your calendars, as the next chapter in the Lancer-revving Gears of War saga is set to begin on Oct. 11 with the release of Gears of War 4.

It’s been almost a year since Gears of War 4 made its global debut at E3 2015, and today’s announcement is set to ignite a chain of upcoming revelations about what’s in store for JD Fenix and the next generation of Gears heroes.

Gears of War 4 marks the beginning of an epic new saga for one of gaming’s most celebrated franchises, as a new band of heroes rises to confront a fearsome new threat. Harkening back to the dark and intense roots of the original classic, fans can expect a familiar, yet distinct evolution of gameplay, including brutal and intimate action, a heart-pounding campaign, genre-defining multiplayer and stunning visuals powered by Unreal Engine 4.

Eager to get a taste of Gears of War 4 before October? Don’t miss the multiplayer beta kicking off this month!

Beginning on April 18, fans who’ve played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or Windows 10 will be able to join the beta on Xbox One, which will expand to all Xbox Live Gold members on April 25. For more information on what to expect from the beta, check out our recent announcement highlighting the full details, and stay tuned to Xbox Wire and GearsofWar.com for more exciting news in the coming weeks and months.”

Unfortunately, the announcement doesn’t provide any information about a PC version. I fully expect the game to be released on PC in the future especially when you consider some vague statements have been made about its production. Sadly, it looks like the game will remain an Xbox One exclusive for the current period and not have a similar simultaneous release schedule like Quantum Break.

ASUS ZenBook Flip to Utilize Intel Core M CPUs

Portable 2-in-1 hybrid ultrabooks provide exceptional flexibility for consumers wanting a thin form factor to easily complete rudimentary tasks while travelling. Even though they’re lacking in the power department, hybrid devices allow you to use touch screen functionality in tablet mode or adopt a normal seating position when typing. I honestly see this as a major development in consumer laptops and believe they might bridge the gap between the mobile and PC market. According to a leak from BenchLife, ASUS will unveil their next line up of ultrabooks sporting various hardware configurations very soon.

The ZenBook Flip features a 13.3-inch display and will be available with either a 1920×1080 panel or whopping 3200×1800 resolution. Furthermore, the range is rumoured to launch on April 7th and despite its name, use Intel’s M series of CPUs. The basic setup includes a Core M3-6Y30 dual core processor with a 900MHz base and Turbo Boost up to 2.2GHz. The mid-range Core M5-6Y54 dual core processor utilizes a base speed of 1.1GHz, and Turbo Boost up to 2.7GHz. Finally, the high-end Core M7-6Y75 processor has a base speed of 1.2 GHz, and Turbo Boost reaching a maximum of 3.1GHz.

Other specifications include the choice between 4GB or 8GB of DDR4 memory and a wide range of SSD capacities. You can select a 128GB, 256GB or 512GB capacity which opts for the M.2 interface. The device will weigh a very respectable 1.3KG, contain two USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB 3.1 Type-C, MicroHDMI and an SD card reader. Unfortunately, there’s no current wording regarding the price but at least there’s only a few days until the official launch. Given the upcoming launch of AMD’s Zen architecture and new Intel CPUs on the horizon, I might have expected a staggered release. Nevertheless, I’m interested to see the performance numbers and how well the product line copes with daily tasks.

Has The Latest Ghostbusters Release Date Been Leaked by Newegg?

Ghostbusters is one of the most recognizable franchises ever devised and spawned a number of interesting games. For example, the ZX Spectrum version of Ghostbusters featured a wacky take on the iconic theme tune and surprisingly advanced mechanics for the time. Moving to the modern era, Activision released Ghostbusters: The Video Game in 2009. The gameplay revolves around shooting in the third person perspective and is very impressive when compared to other officially licensed video games. I still feel it’s a little bit underrated despite good reviews and is well worth checking out.

Not so long ago, a trailer was released showing the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot which caused some controversy. This is because of the predominately female cast including s Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones in the lead roles.  Whatever your views, it’s clear the initial unveil received a mixed reception and there’s some skepticism surrounding the film prior to its availability in cinemas. To coincide with the film’s release, Activision is reportedly releasing a game but there’s not much information regarding the genre or release date. However, US retail giant, Newegg has listed the PlayStation 4 version with a release date of 7/12/2016. Of course this could simply be a placeholder and delays are quite common when producing video games on the latest consoles.

Saying that, I’m sure Activision is keen to unveil the game as quickly as possible when the film is still in everyone’s minds to create a sense of excitement. It’s important to be wary of licensed games because they have a pretty terrible history. The most pertinent of example of this is Rambo which has some of the worst design decisions and graphics I’ve seen for a long time. Personally, I’m looking forward to the new Ghostbusters video game and hope it lives up to its predecessor.

Consoles Could Delay Kingdom Come: Deliverance PC Release

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is set for release this summer by developer Warhorse Studios, and if what we’ve seen of the game so far is anything go by, it can’t come soon enough! The game is already looking absolutely amazing, but it seems that those of us eager to play it may have a longer wait on their hands than expected. Warhorse Studios have been in talks with some publishers, and it looks like the PC release of their upcoming RPG epic may have to be held back by the console version of the game.

“The idea was to release the game in the summer and then to follow up with the console versions. Right now we are still indie developers but we are in negotiations with publishers to, well, we need someone to bring the games into the shops, so we need a distributor, and he kind of wants us to synch it with the console versions. We are still in negotiations, we will see.” said PR Manager Tobias Stolz-Zwilling.

This isn’t great news for PC gamers, especially given that the game was on Kickstarter and funds were raised for it based on it being a PC focused title. Of course, the developers will be looking for their best return on investment, so hopefully the delay means they’re not wanting to half-arse the PC edition, but get all up to scratch by release time.

“Best case for you will be summer this year for the PC version and then with the follow-up for consoles; or if the publisher wants us to synch it we will release everything let’s say by the end of the year, so we will see about that.” added Tobias.

Are you looking forward to Kingdom Come and did you back it on Kickstarter? Let us know in the comments section below.

The Overly Generic ‘Doom’ Cover Fits Virtually Any Game

Doom is one of the most iconic FPS games of all time, although it did have the advantage of being one of the very first games to kickstart the entire genre, giving it a distinct advantage for a lot of years. Now the game is set to return to our screens once again. Doom is currently pegged with a release date of May 13th, which isn’t particularly far away, but it’s just long enough to give the developer time to delay again; let’s hope they don’t.

The release date isn’t the only reason we’re hearing a lot about doom this week, however, as the artwork for the latest Bethesda bullet-em-up comes across as one of the most generic covers of all time. Following that infamous orange and blue theme that so many hundreds of game and movie boxes have adopted, the game’s logo can be swapped out for almost anything and still looks like it belongs.

How about adding him to Halo 5? Seems fine to me.

I think I’ve actually seen this guy in a few Final Fantasy games, have you?

OK, this one I’m not so sure about, but if you didn’t know who Professor Layton was, it’s still pretty convincing.

Well, that’s just an easy match up these days.

This definitely looks like something I’d be eager to play!

Scrap that, this is the one I really want to play. Running around with a sawn-off frying pan and causing chaos.

Gaming artwork can be quite generic, as we’ve seen here today, but it’s not the end of the world. Fortunately, we won’t have too long to wait for the release of the game and fingers are crossed around the world that it won’t be generic to play.

What was your favourite entry in the Doom series? For me, nothing will beat the original two games on MS-DOS.

Star Wars: Episode VIII Causes Avatar 2 Delay

It’s a tough time to be a fan of James Cameron’s Avatar movies, although it for those who followed the release of the first movie in the series, it’s always been somewhat of a bumpy road anyway. The movie was first revealed as a project from James Cameron back in 1996, and it wasn’t until 2009 when we first got to see it; 13 years is a very long time, even in the world of movie development. Avatar 2 was originally planned for a Christmas 2017 release, so we’ve already been waiting quite a few years anyway, but there’s obviously hope that it won’t be pushed back by 13 years.

So what’s causing the delay? Star Wars: Episode VIII! It seems the studios don’t want to take on what would be an epic big screen battle for viewers, not only because it could hurt the profits of either, but it would likely limit each to a certain number of IMAX screens around the world, something neither studio would want. Disney would be mad to get locked into a competition with this movie too, given that they even have a planned Avatar installment coming to their park around the time of the movies release.

So with Star Wars taking the December spot for a major release for the next few years, it looks like 20th Century Fox will take Avatar into a summer release window for 2018. With Cameron wanting to wait till all three of the new Avatar movies are done before pushing them to market, allowing him to release each one just a year after the other, so expect to see Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and if rumours are to be believed, Sigourney Weaver, throughout 2018, 2019 and 2020.

It’s a bit of a long wait, but with Cameron pulling out all the stops for one of his biggest blockbusters yet, the end result is likely going to be a spectacular cinematic treat.

Can’t wait all that time for the new movies? Takes a step back and enjoy the original trailer on more time.

Pro-Cymbals Expansion Kit & New Songs Revealed for Rock Band 4

Harmonix Music Systems, Inc. has just announced new tracks that will be hitting the Music Store on Rock Band 4 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The new tracks from Alabama Shakes, Breaking Benjamin, Death From Above 1979 and The Pretty Reckless add to an already extensive library that is available for the game already.

Alabama Shakes makes its Rock Band debut with “Don’t Wanna Fight” from the band’s 2015 record, Sound & Color. Breaking Benjamin returns to Rock Band with its 2015 single, ”Failure,” which reached number one on Billboard’s US Mainstream Rock charts earlier this year. Death From Above 1979 made waves on the Billboard charts last year when it released “Trainwreck 1979” as a single off of its most recent release, the critically acclaimed The Physical World. “Follow Me Down” is the first track off of The Pretty Reckless’ second LP, 2014’s Going to Hell.

New songs, but also new hardware, just a week after the games launch we’ve now got access to the pre-order for the Rock Band 4 Pro Cymbals Expansion Kit, which are expected to ship in time for Christmas this year, with prices around $49.99.

The cross-platform compatible Pro-Cymbals Expansion Kit consists of realistic Crash, Ride and Hi-Hat cymbals. With a quick and easy set-up, the Pro-Cymbals Expansion Kit connects in minutes and features an innovative velocity-sensitive and sound-absorbing design for endless play sessions of distraction free drumming.

All tracks will be available for download on October 13 for $1.99 per track, while the Pro Cymbals are available for pre-order at $49.99.

Apacer Reveals Pricing on 3000MHz NOX DDR4 Laptop Memory

Apacer promised to release the final pricing for their new NOX DDR4 memory when we could report about it a little while ago and they’ve kept that promise. Apacer’s NOX DDR4 SO-DIMMs are quite impressive on several fronts and they could quite easily be described as the most advanced laptop memory to date.

With 64GB capacity and up to 3000MHz, we can imagine that these modules aren’t going to be cheap, but it is probably not as bad as you might have imagined. For $299, the 3000MHz version can be yours. The slower modules in the same series are a little cheaper and the 2800MHz SO-DIMMs can be yours for $239, 2666MHz for $219, and 2400MHz for $139. Availability for all four types is set for the end of November, so you might have to pack a little more patience before you can upgrade your mobile gaming station with these modules.

The label on the front isn’t just decoration, it is manufactured in detail by Z511 Lab team and it is able to stand 120°C heat with metalloid material. The well-developed front label helps the system stay within thermal limits during the regular use, and even during those marathon gaming sessions. This allows NOX to provide its highest performance possible under narrow and hot environment within the laptop. The low power consumption of just 1.2V is another thing that laptop users will benefit from, extending your battery time.

AMD Confirms Launch Date for the Radeon R9 Nano

We had some pretty awesome reveals of the upcoming Fiji cards in the past. With Fury X and Fury already released, AMD is now focusing on the R9 Nano and their monstrous Dual Fiji card. However, CEO Lisa Su might have slipped in some more information about the R9 Nano at the company’s earnings call.

What we knew so far is that the R9 Nano is a small, 7.64-inch card, that will use High Bandwidth Memory directly on the Fiji chip. This gives AMD the ability to shrink the card to the dimensions listed. Also, the R9 Nano is said to have 4096 stream processors, a 4096-bit memory bus width and most importantly, it does not need a closed-loop liquid cooling solution like the Fury X. The exact specs are not yet confirmed, but we might have an actual release time-frame for the card.

Su apparently revealed that the R9 Nano will be released this August. This means that we are about a month away from seeing it on the market. Up until now, the R9 Nano was expected to be released this summer, but an exact date was not given. Now, since we have an actual release date, we might see AMD revealing the R9 Nano’s official full specifcations soon enough. Stay tuned!

Intel Skylake and Z170 Motherboard Release Date Revealed

Some people are waiting with high anticipation for Intel to release their newest platform, Skylake, while others don’t care as much as they’ve recently upgraded to the current platform. If you are a member of the first group, then you won’t have to wait much longer as the release date for the first CPUs in the series as well as the first motherboards have been revealed.

Benchlife got the scoop and they weren’t slow to release it – meaning that we also can bring you this news. The first CPUs to be released are the Core i7-6700K and the Core i5-6600K and they will be released on August 5th and not between the 6th and 9th as previously reported.

A new CPU also needs a new motherboard to go along and we saw a lot of gorgeous ones during out visit to Computex last month. The Z170 chipset will be the new flagship and it will be released on the same day. After all, what good is a brand new CPU without a motherboard?

The i7-6700, i5-6600, and i5-6400 as well as the i7-6700T, i5-6600T, and i5-6400T processors are scheduled for a release between August 30th and September 5th. The same goes for the H170, B150, and H110 chipset based motherboards. Enterprise level Q170 and Q150 will have to wait until at least October before they get the newest technology out of the house of Intel.

New SOMA Trailer From the People Who Gave Us Amnesia.

Frictional Games, the makers of the Amnesia and Penumbra series have just released a gameplay trailer for their upcoming Sci-Fi horror game, SOMA.

Despite the name, I remember everything about Amnesia: Dark Descent. It was a game of slightly clichéd flashbacks, ghosts and notes that led Daniel down the road of rediscovery. The game was well devised and it was enjoyable. The trend for good games continues with the sequel, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. Which had darker undertones and was generally more gruesome.

The minds behind these games posted on their website:

“After almost five years of blood, sweat and tears we can finally make the following announcement: SOMA, our upcoming sci-fi horror game, will be released on the 22nd September this fall on PS4 and PC.”

The new trailer shows off some of the gameplay. You play the role of Simon and you are in what looks to be some sort of power station where the workers have been killed and their robot helpers all but destroyed. The game consists of some puzzle elements and if the creators past games are anything to go by, a few jump scares too.

According to the official website Simon is not an amnesiac, he knows who he is but isn’t sure on his situation. So no more looking for clues into his past like previous games. Take a look at the SOMA gameplay below, let us know what you think in the comments. The game is set to be released on the 22nd September 2015, don’t forget!

Amazon Listing Hints at a December 31st Release Date for Halo 5: Guardians

Amazon is known for posting release dates for future products, even if they do not have any official information about their release date. Its latest product listing appears to add a release date for the Halo 5: Guardians title.

The Spanish branch of the online retailer has apparently listed that the release date for the latest Halo title will be Thursday, September 10th 2015. However, that listing has recently changed to “la venta el 31 de diciembre de 2015”, which means that they now point to a December 31st release.

While the release date is just pure speculation, it might somehow indicate that Microsoft and 343 might be looking to delay the title a bit. Take the information with a grain of salt though, since the release date might as well be something completely different and Amazon ES can at any moment take down the product listing as well.

Sci-Fi Stealth-em-Up ‘Solarix’ Release Date Trailer Released

As some of you may remember, we previewed the very intriguing Solarix a short while ago. The game captures what was great about old-school Sci-Fi FPS games and certainly showed a lot of potential when we first played it.

Now the game has been given a full release date and you’ll be able to get your hands on the psychological horror sci-fi stealthy goodness on April 30th via Steam.

We can’t wait to see the game in its final form. Will you be picking this one up when it is released?

Nvidia GTX 980 Ti Coming This Summer?

The rumour mill is spinning with full force this morning, as the guys at SweClockers report that Nvidia will be launching a more affordable GM200 based GPU this summer.

The new card, expected to be the GeForce GTX 980 Ti, will feature the GM200 hardware with 2072 CUDA cores, the same as the current Titan X. However, the card is expected to feature less memory and perhaps a few other refinements to help bring the cost down to something more affordable.

What’s crazy is that the Titan X is already proving a big hit, Nvidia is actually selling their $1000 cards like crazy, despite the concerns most of us have when we check our bank balances or try explaining such a fanciful purchase to our SO. If Nvidia can get much of the performance of the Titan X into a price point that won’t be such a bitter pill to swallow, then that can only be a good thing for consumers, because I think we can all agree that flagship GPU prices are getting out of hand.

The 980 Ti seems like a sure thing, especially given it will no doubt launch at the GAME24 event and be around the same time as the AMD 3xx series launches; Nvidia would be mad not to have something to compete with at that time.

AMD 300 Series Release Date Pushed Back

We’ve caught wind of some very interesting news today, that the new AMD 300 series has now been pushed back to the start of June! While many expected the cards to launch much sooner, even as soon as this month, that is no longer the case.

An industry source, who we cannot name, has disclosed that AMD will now launch the cards in June, around the time of the Computex trade show, where we expect to get our first hands-on look at the new flagship cards. No doubt AMD will make a public statement in the very near future to reflect this.

It also seems that this applies to all AMD 300 series cards, including the XFX cards which we earlier stated would be launched this month, although it’s unclear at this time why AMD has made this decision.

We’ll update you on this as the story develops.

Project CARS Delayed Again!

It’s with a sad face that I break this news to you, as I’m sure many of you are eagerly awaiting the release of this game as much as I am. Of course, delays are nothing new to the world of computers games, but this isn’t the first time the game has been pushed back and we’ve obviously no way of knowing if it will be the last.

The games release date has now been moved to “mid-May 2015” and with no solid date there, that statement doesn’t fill me with confidence that the developers will be ready for release even then. Of course, this isn’t a bad thing, as the team are wanting this time to get the game polished for release. With many games being released broken these days, perhaps it’s not such a bad thing to wait a little while longer.

“Despite our long heritage and pedigree in making critically-acclaimed racing games, Project CARS is by far the grandest and most intricately detailed of them all. Despite therefore the game being 99.9% complete, the remaining 0.1% attending to small issues and bugs has been tricky to anticipate. We’re absolutely dedicated to delivering a ground-breaking experience and by targeting mid-May fans can be assured that’s what they’ll receive” said Ian Bell, Head of Studio at Slightly Mad Studios. “Again, we want to thank our fans for their support and patience on this matter. There’s a high expectancy from racing fans around the world that Project CARS is going to be an exciting new contender in the simulation racing space and we firmly believe gamers deserve it to be in its most complete and polished state when they come to play it on day one. And since the gaming community is our primary focus and has always been at the heart of the project during development, we would like to offer some free content to all players as compensation for this short delay and as acknowledgement of how grateful we are. This gift, that we’re sure is going to excite fans, will be available from day one and revealed shortly. Keep an eye on our website for more info.”

The delay is a disappointment, but at least the developers are looking to make amends with the addition of some free content upon the games release.

Thank you Xbox Hub for providing us with this information.

Infinite Crisis to Launch March 26th on Steam

The increasingly popular Infinite Crisis MOBA from Warner Bros. will finally be hitting Steam later this month! Although the game has been available for some time through beta and other trials.

Playing into the very popular PVP battlefield, much in the same style as games like DOTA2 and League of Legends, the game brings with it a wide range of crazy characters set in the DC Comics Multiverse. The game is packed with heroes and villains alike, such as Nightmare Batman, Gaslight Catwoman, Green Lantern and The Flash.

“Infinite Crisis has massively evolved over the past year with the help of the millions of players who participated in our Open Beta,” said Jeffrey Steefel, Executive Producer. “We have designed, updated, and tuned almost every facet of the game based on player feedback and we are now ready to officially launch the game on 26th March.”

Windows 10 Expected to be Finished by June

Microsoft is on schedule to have the final build of Windows 10 done in June, as reported by Neowin. Although, as we all know, time frames can change. With the second preview having been released last month, we expect to see the official release happening sometime soon and the debut of Windows 10 for mobile devices this month.

Microsoft’s annual Build Developer Conference in April will give us a chance to see more of the features of Windows 10, although most of those updates are geared toward the developing classes.

Despite the still young nature of Windows 8/8.1, the timeline in use by Microsoft for Windows 10 is very similar to that was used with Windows 8 during its early stages of development to RTM. Brad Sams, from the Neowin Report, states:

“For a bit more information about the timetable, if you look at the Windows 8 release schedule, that OS hit RTM August 1st, 2012 and Windows 8’s consumer preview was at the end of February.”

Now before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s remember that RTM releases are not public, but instead go out to companies such as Dell, HP, etc.  This strategy has PCs and laptops powered by Windows 10 on the market by the time the new school year starts, long before the major holiday season. At the end of the day, the possibility of things changing that timeframe is keeping Microsoft from officially confirming this time frame.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Release Date Leaked

Metal Gear Solid is one of the most iconic video games in the history of video games, it’s been around since the NES era in the 80’s and it’s showing no sign of slowing down. Not only has Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeros proved to be a hit, it’s made its way to PC, all the while we’re getting very close to the release of the next entry in the main series; Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

The release date has so far been a closely guarded secret, but it looks like the cat is out of the bag after several premium retailers leaked the information, including Microsoft Store and Rakuten (Play).

It now looks like we can expect the game to be launched on the 24th of February in the U.S. which is a Tuesday, the common day for major new releases.

Google’s Nexus 9 and Nexus 6 expected to Launch Tomorrow

Exciting news for Android smart phone and tablet fans – Forbes is reporting that Google’s HTC constructed Nexus 9 and Motorola built Nexus 6 will be launching tomorrow, and are expected to be the first devices running the new Android L operating system.

The tablet – codenamed the HTC Volantis, will be made available for pre-order on the 17th of October – and is said to be going on sale from November the 3rd. Forbes’ source has let loose that Google was originally intending on hosting an official launch event for the device – but decided against such after the company was still hard at work on tweaking and optimising Android L. As such, the Nexus 9 and 6 will be announced through a blog post from Google.

On the specification frontier, the Nexus 9 is expected to be packing Nvidia’s Kepler GPU, an 8.9 inch 2048×1440 display as well as a 64 bit dual-core CPU. On the front face, sources are reporting a 3MP camera – with the main rear shooter clocking in at 8MP. Pricing of the tablet isn’t going to be cheap – with reports stating that the 16GB model will start at $399 USD and ramping up to $499 USD for the 32GB LTE version. Good news however, is that the Nexus 9 is said to include expandable memory – so those wanting to save money this festive season can breathe a sigh of relief.

Over on the smart phone side of things, the new Nexus 6 is expected to look extremely similar to the design of the new Moto X (2014). The Nexus 6 is said to include a gigantic 5.92 inch display – which may in fact be too large for many. Sources have indicated that Motorola’s had to move the volume adjustment and screen lock buttons down the device to allow for a more manageable experience. Pricing and models haven’t yet been leaked for the Nexus 6.

Stay tuned to eTeknix – as tomorrow’s shaping up to be a big day for Mountain View and the Android operating system.

Nvidia Preparing to Launch GeForce GTX 960

News, leaked images, specifications, prices and more have been flooding in all week about the new Nvidia GeForce GTX 9xx range of cards. While we know that Nvidia will be launching the GeForce GTX 970 and 980 cards in a few days time, it looks like they’ll be joined by a third entry in the series just a few weeks later.

The new card is said to be the GeForce GTX 960 and is expected to cost under $300. There are no other details surrounding this card, but the x60 moniker cards have always been well known for offering great performance at more affordable prices; at least when compared to the x70 and x80 cards.

The GTX 960 is expected to launch in mid-to-late October this year; around a month after the launch of the 970 and 980 hardware.

GTA V Finally Has a PC Release Date

First, GTA V was announced for next-gen consoles and PC and the crowd went wild. Then it was rumoured to have been delayed, or maybe even cancelled, and the crowd went wild again, but in a different way. Rockstar however was quick to deny those rumours and ensured us that there was no such thing.

Fast forward to today and Rockstar have finally announced the official release date for both PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4. The two consoles will get the new game first, as expected, with a release date set for November 18th 2014. PC users will have to wait until next year, as that version won’t be available until January 27th 2015.

Along with the release date, Rockstar also announced a row of new features:

  • New weapons, vehicles and activities
  • Additional wildlife
  • Denser traffic
  • New foliage system
  • Enhanced damage and weather effects, and much more

The new version includes a range of improvements. Among them are an additional 100 new songs and dj remixes across the 17 radio stations. The GTA online mode also gets support for more players, with the next-gen consoles allowing up to 30 players while the PC version hasn’t gotten an official number as of yet. We can only hope that it will be even more, and if lucky, it may be all the way up to 64 players at once.

Pre-order customers will get a bonus of $1 million in-game currency, distributed as $500k for the solo-campaign and $500k for GTA online.

Additional bonuses are added for those who already played the game on the PS3 or Xbox 360. They’ll get exclusive content including rare versions of classic vehicles to collect from across the Grand Theft Auto series, such as the Dukes, the Dodo Seaplane and a faster, more manoeuvrable Blimp; activities including wildlife photography and new shooting range challenges, new weapons and more. Players who wish to claim this bonus should have completed the Prologue prior while being connected to the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live.

Rockstar also released a whole list of new screenshots and promised a new trailer for the game later today.

Project CARS Release Date Revealed

Slightly Mad Studios and Bandai Namco Games have revealed the release date for their much anticipated Project CARS! Given that the game has been teasing gamers like myself with endless stunning galleries, trailers, gameplay videos and more for almost two years now, the thought of finally getting to play this incredible looking racer is just too exciting!

The game has been developed with the help of the community, allowing early backers to get hands on with pre-release builds of the game and those who invested a little heavier into the title have been able to provide feedback and development support. This level of community aided development has helped shape the game into something incredible and when it launches on PC it’ll bring support for things such as Oculus Rift, 4K resolutions and a whole lot more.

The game is set to launch on November 21st this year, which is great news for those wanting it in time for Christmas, but bad news for those on tight budgets as the game launches in the same two week window as every other AAA title. Project CARS, the new Assassin’s Creed, The Crew, Pro Evo, Dragon Age, Far Cry 4 and countless others launch in that same period, so unless you have a heavy wallet, it’s likely that you’ll be missing out on some of this years big titles for a while.
