Fallout 4’s passionate community is already creating a host of innovative mods to improve the user-interface. While these alterations are incredibly useful, the ability to play Doom on a Pip Boy is certainly one of the most intriguing creations. Once the mod has been installed, you can enjoy Doom in all its glory through a retro green art style which is quite reminiscent of the original Nintendo Game Boy. In theory, this shouldn’t be taken down for copyright reasons because you can download a version of Doom under the Shareware license.
Honestly, Bethesda should have included this by default as a hidden Easter egg. Although, perhaps the idea never crossed their mind. If you want to give the Doom mod a try, please visit here. Thankfully, the install process is fairly painless and shouldn’t pose a problem:
Scroll to sResourceDataDirsFinal and add “PROGRAMS\, SOUND\” to the end of the line comma included.
Doom on a Pip Boy isn’t the definitive version but it’s an excellent mod which deserves some attention. Even more impressive, this is supposedly the creator’s first mod. Although, I’m unsure if that relates to Fallout 4 mods or modding in general. Now it’s time to ditch that calculator or Apple Watch version of Doom, and play it on a Pip Boy!
Fallout 4’s launch is only a few days away and generating a huge amount of excitement across various social media platforms. The franchise is renowned for putting players in an expansive world which offers spectacular value-for-money. Bethesda allowed fans with rather large pockets the opportunity to acquire an amazing limited collector’s edition which contains a wearable Pip-Boy in stunning detail. However, this is a rather bulky solution and only available to customers in the Continental US.
Thankfully, there is now a simpler solution to proudly display your love of Fallout providing you own an Apple Watch. The Watch OS 2 allows users to display any photo as their home screen background. Developer, Neven Mrgan produced a Pip-Boy 3000 theme which contains the iconic Fallout green colour scheme. This is certainly an eye opener and looks fantastic! Ideally, I’d like to see this on a number of other smartwatches.
For those if you interested in downloading the background, please visit here. Sadly, I don’t own an Apple Watch so this isn’t an option. Additionally, I find many people these days rely on their smartphone to tell the time. As a result, it’s remarkable easy to find a Fallout themed background. While this is certainly true, having a Fallout themed watch is incredibly cool and a great option for those who want to display their favorite franchise throughout daily life.
Bethesda has revealed the minimum and recommended PC system requirements, plus required console storage space, for the most eagerly awaited game of the year Fallout 4, ahead of its release next month. In addition, the developer has announced which smartphones will fit within the Special Edition Pip Boy.

Console Storage Space Make sure you have enough space in the vault to store Fallout 4. Fallout 4 requires 28-35 GB depending on territory and languages supported.
What phones will fit in the Pip-Boy Edition Pip-Boy? The Pip-Boy included will have foam inserts that fit iPhone 6/6s, iPhone 5/5s, iPhone 4/4S, Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy S4, and Samsung Galaxy S3. In addition, using the customizable foam insert you should be able to fit most other popular smartphone devices. As we wanted to stay faithful to the dimensions of the in-game model, any smartphones larger than the models listed will not fit inside the wearable device, but can still use the Pip-Boy App.
Fallout 4 is released for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on 10th November.
Bethesda has released the latest episode of Fallout 4’s educational video series which provides key information about what makes players S.P.E.C.I.A.L. The acronym stands for Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility and Luck. These are the main character traits to become a survival expert. In particular, learning a wide array of endurance abilities is paramount when scavenging for food and other basic survival instincts.
In the video below, we can see the perils throughout Fallout 4 in an old-school black and white montage video. Sadly, there’s no gameplay footage on show which would have given a greater indication about the core mechanics. Nevertheless, these videos are quite neat and a good teaser into the Fallout 4 style.
Fallout 4 is set on a huge scale and the environment promises to be absolutely breathtaking. Therefore, it’s certainly one of the most anticipated releases in recent years. Bethesda appears to be focusing on these unique educational videos for the time being but I expect gameplay trailers to be released fairly soon. I cannot wait to see what’s in store for Fallout 4 and hope it lives up to everyone’s high expectations.
Did you prefer Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas and why?
Anyone who is anyone in the gaming industry, be it as a gamer or maker, knows about the Fallout series; if you haven’t, get from under your rock. In the recent announcement of Fallout 4, the limited edition featured a real life Pip-Boy which interacts with your mobile phone thanks to a slot in the top. The limited edition sold out almost instantly; after crashing retailers websites of course.
Bethesda marketing Vice President Pete Hines has stated that the company tried to make as many of the product as possible, selling out instantly in both waves of shipments. The problem it seems is that the factories tasked with producing the iconic plastic shroud were at maximum capacity with pre-existing orders.
“We reached a point where we’d go back to the factories and they were like, ‘Guys, this is it, sorry. This is as long as we can run the lines and as many of them as we can make,'” Hines told GameSpot. “We’d go back to [the factories] and say, ‘Demand for this is insane, we’ve got to make more.’ And they’d move other projects off or shift stuff to other factories and it just came to [them telling Bethesda], ‘Final answer: sorry, this is as many as we can make.’ And we sold every single one of those that we could.”
Before you go shouting on social media that you have a good chance of buying a brand new Pip-Boy, think again, Hines during a conversation with a fan:
@hyliannelf each store is being given their final allotment. how and when they make the available is up to them. but no more are being made
We could be seeing more remaining stock of Pip-Boy editions hit the shelves, but likely in very small quantities. If you want to get your hands on one; keep your eyes glued to your local resellers and eBay for the possible second-hand purchase.

The Fallout series has been the game that most people think of when asked about post-nuclear war survival games. The newest addition to this is Fallout 4, which comes with a brand new collector addition, with added Pip-Boy wearable. The new tech is compatible with most mobile phones by docking them inside and has most fans crying in anticipation to get their radioactive hands on them.
In the UK, GAME has the exclusive rights to this new collectors edition and went on pre-order at 9am this morning; well it was supposed to anyway. Due to the overwhelming interest in the item, the GAME website crashed and caused major headaches.
As any company would do in this day and age, someone from the marketing team took to Twitter to try to ease the tense customers, using references from the game itself.
It worked! The industrious chap who sent Bethesda 2,240 bottlecaps, collected over the course of seven years, to pre-order forthcoming RPG sequel Fallout 4has had his payment accepted. For the person at the back who doesn’t get the reference, bottlecaps are Fallout’s in-game currency following the fall of society due to a nuclear holocaust, but it seems that Bethesda honours the tender just as much as it does our pre-war money.
Seth, or GatorMacheteJr on Imgur, took a punt, probably expecting for viral fame over a copy of the game, but the stunt has paid off, confirmed by both Seth’s Imgur account and a Twitter post from Matt Grandstaff, Global Community Lead for Bethesda.
Grandstaff also sent an e-mail to GatorMacheteJr, confirming that his pre-order had been accepted. GatorMacheteJr wrote on his Imgur post, “[Grandstaff] told me since I was the first person to do this, I would be receiving a copy of the game this November, and that he would be running my caps over to deposit them at the People’s Bank of Point Lookout.”
The next question is, will GatorMacheteJr be getting a regular copy of the game, or the much sought-after Pip-Boy Edition, featuring a replica of Fallout’s signature arm-mounted electronic aid. Though, since the latter is selling out like crazy and priced £99 ($129), it would be quite the coup.
A lot of hype has been going around with Bethesda’s new Fallout title. While fans eagerly await the official announcement of Fallout 4 and endlessly watch its newly released teaser trailer, you may also want to know that there is a new post-apocalyptic mod in the works for Minecraft that comes with a Pip-Boy. So if you want to get into the Fallout hype and are a Minecraft player, you may be interested in this new mod.
The mod, named Project Wasteland, received a video earlier this week. It showed what players would expect from it and how the Pip-Boy works in Minecraft’s world. From the looks of it, it really does seem pretty similar to Fallout’s version in terms of look and feel, as well as interaction.
There have been a few pics showing the mod’s post apocalyptic scenario, accompanied by a video that illustrates the day and night cycle of the environment. From my point of view, the mod really does have a lot of potential and strangely, by watching the video, it does make you feel more like in a Fallout game rather than in a Minecraft environment.
More detailed information about the mod is scarce at the moment, but its developers are bound to release more information soon. Maybe even before the official Fallout 4 announcement at E3. In the meantime, you can head on over to the mod’s forum page for more information. So what do you think? Will you give this mod a try?

If you’ve ever played the Bethesda classic that is Fallout, then you’re no doubt familiar with the rise in popularity of the Pip-Boy from Fallout 3. The wearable gadget is much like the smart devices we can wear today, only it’s a heck of a lot cooler.
Team Reno took part in the NASA SpaceApps Challenge, which set the goal of creating wearable technology for future space travellers. Team Reno created a Pip-Boy that really raised the bar compared to the other Pip-Boy style mods we’ve seen created by fans in the past. The new device can display relative humidity, altitude, latitude, longitude, atmospheric pressure, ambient temperature, object temperature and most importantly of all, radiation levels.
We wanted to make a piece of popular science fiction into a reality so we chose the Pip-Boy 3000 from the game Fallout 3. The goal was to bring environmental sensors into an easy-to-use cuff device that could help a wearer determine if their environment is safe for navigation or helmet removal”. said Team Reno in a recent blog post.
I’m loving the device so far, the 3D printed shell looks stunning and the inlay screen looks very much like that of the Fallout Pip-Boy. Question is, where can I get one?!
