Great Offer From GIGABYTE on GA-Z97X-Gaming G1 in May

GIGABYTE is in a good mood and they want to give something back to their customers. To do this, they’ve launched a new campaign with an extra low price for their award winning G1 motherboard, the GA-Z97X-Gaming G1.

This motherboard already provided enough features and abilities to score the Bang for the Buck award here at eTeknix when it was released, and that statement is more valid than ever with the new campaign pricing. While stock lasts, you can grab this amazing motherboard for under £105,00 incl. VAT at participating retailers.

The GA-Z97X-Gaming G1 supports both 4th and 5th Generation Intel Core processors and up to 32GB DDR3 memory. It comes with onboard Creative Sound Core3D quad-core audio processor and AMP-UP Audio technology with exclusive upgradable OP-AMP, and Audio Noise Guard with LED path lighting. Dual DAC-UP USB ports, gold-plated display and audio ports, high-end Nichicon audio capacitors, Killer E2200 and Intel gaming networking, 4-way graphics support, and SATA Express support for 10 Gb/s data transfer. It is backed by a 4-year warranty and is built with Long lifespan Durable Black Solid caps.

It doesn’t really matter what your preferred online shop is, as it covers all the major UK sites. Aria, CCL, eBuyer, dabs, Scan, Novatech and my personal favourite Overclockers UK are all part of this deal. GIGABYTE’s GA-Z97X-Gaming G1 is an awesome motherboard for anyone planning to build a Z97 based setup and with a deal like this, the time might be now.

Dropbox Users Can Get 100GB Free OneDrive Storage

In an attempt to pull Dropbox users over to OneDrive, Microsoft is offering anyone with a Dropbox account 100GB of free storage (for one year). If you visit the OneDrive site and register your Dropbox account, you’ll immediately get your big storage increase – a massive amount compared to the measly 2GB you get for free with Dropbox.

It is only for a year though, so who knows what would happen to the stuff you have stored over the standard 25GB when that year is up. With that in mind though, it’s pretty clear Microsoft isn’t being totally a good samaritan, such a deal will undoubtedly lure in more OneDrive users who will then feel inclined to pay the subscription fees once their free year is up.

Still, if you need 125GB right now, there’s no better place for you. Be sure to have a fast upload speed if you’re thinking of using it all at once though.

Google are Replacing every Broken Nexus 5

Phones break all the time, whether they are dropped, flushed, stepped on, run over, thrown – you name it. According to some unfortunately Nexus 5 phone destroyers, the Google Play Store will send you a shiny new (refurbished) Nexus 5 for free.

This deal is valid only to U.S customers currently, so unfortunately the rest of us miss out. What’s even better? It doesn’t matter how you broke your original device – no questions asked!

We’ve learned though, this isn’t the first straight up replacement policy for smartphones (or all technology). Motorola and HTC offer free replacements alongside peripheral manufacturer Logitech being widely known for a straight up replacement policy even on their oldest gear. Googles swap deal is rumored to be due to Google wanting to clear a pile of Nexus 5’s they have in stock.

Is this a logical reason to go for the Nexus 5 over its Apple competitor? Quite possibly. It’s quite often that you see people wandering around with the infamous busted screen, unable or wanting to pay the few hundred-dollar replacement for a store to whisk it off to phone surgery. Or people being unwilling to learn how to replace said screen themselves.

It’s been said that this offer is available as a “one-time service to valued customers”, so make sure you put in your best ‘business voice’ when calling the centre!

NVIDIA Defences Down With $249 Black Friday Shield Offer

Black Friday is in full swing across the globe and there is almost no stone that has been left unturned in the market. NVIDIA have joined in with the festive season price drop frenzy on the Shield hand hand console by not only slashing a $50 chunk off the selling price, but they are also bundling a heap of extras as well. The limited time offer is only open to people over in the US and Canada sadly, but the lucky bunch that are over in North America can pick up the handheld console from NVIDIA’s online store where they will also receive a carry case worth $39.99 and also two games as well – namely Sonic 4 Episode II and Expendable: Rearmed. That is not all though as there is also free shipping and a limited-edition shield t-shirt will also be thrown into the deal as well.

There is a limitation of four units per person, but if you’re looking at getting one this Christmas be quick as stock will run out soon. Head over to http://store.nvidia.com/buyshield where you can get the Black Friday deal.

Snapchat Owners Turns Down A $3B Offer From Facebook

Since its release just over two years ago, Snapchat has been going from strength to strength and more recently the simple photo messaging app which was developed by a group of university students at Stanford has seen upwards of 350 million images passing through its servers each day to well over 100 million users worldwide. Due to its huge success and popularity, Facebook have made a huge offer to the app’s CEO – Evan Spiegel of $3B, only to be turned down as the 23-year old owner deems the company to be worth much more.

This offer has astonished a number of people worldwide as it is excessively more than the $1B purchase that Facebook made earlier in the year when they acquired the similarly popular imaging application – Instagram.

It seems that Facebook are keen to get their hands on the application as their own attempts to produce a similar app known as Facebook Poke saw little attention in the field when compared to Snapchat. With Facebook so keen to get hold of the service, especially due to the high offer, we may see another bid being placed next year when the company has an evaluation remade – with a substantial growth expected.

HP’s new Chromebook Priced At Less Than £200 on Amazon

HP’s latest Chromebook, the Chromebook 11, has had its price cut from £230 to £200 on Amazon. It is interesting indeed, especially for Chromebook fans out there who are looking to acquire such a device.

Whoever missed the announcement and does not know what’s it about, the Chromebook is a netbook for those who just want to browse and send email. It runs Google’s Chrome operating system, a Linux-based operating system designed by Google to work primarily with web applications. The user interface takes a minimalist approach and consists almost entirely of just the Google Chrome web browser since the operating system is aimed at users who spend most of their computer time on the Web, the only “native” applications on Chrome OS are a browser, media player and file manager.

HP’s version has a better screen than the likes of Samsung’s effort in the market. It is only 1366 x 768 pixels with a 11.6-inch display, but has brighter and clearer IPS tech. In terms of specs, it runs on a 1.7GHz mobile processor, 2GB of RAM and just 16GB of storage. But the big idea is that you are supposed to feed all that data on Google’s NSA friendly cloud anyway. The Chromebook is more for interacting with the net.

For those interested in buying such a netbook in the future can go on Amazon’s website for more details on the device and price/availability.

Nexus 4 No Longer Available On Google Play

With the arrival of the Google Nexus 5 yesterday, it appears that the Nexus 4 handset has disappeared from the Google Play store. Having cut the price down to $199 for the basic model with the arrival date getting closer for the Google Nexus 5, the time has come and the Nexus 4 has been discontinued. Phone Arena has checked the U.S., U.K., German and French Play stores to confirm and all of them list the devices as ‘no longer available for sale.’

This does not come as a surprise given the fact that this has also happened with the Nexus 7 – 2013 Edition at launch, as the tablet replaced the 2012 edition. You can still find Google’s last year’s 7-incher at third-party retailers that still have stock, but the official Google Play store is not selling the device. The same story repeats itself with the Nexus 5 and 4. You’d probably still be able to find the Nexus 4 at third-party retailers, but not on Google Play and that means you probably won’t be able to capitalize on that alluring $199 sale offer.

What we can see here is a continuous pattern and we would expect the same thing to happen for future Google devices sold on the Play store. As soon as the new one appears, expect the old one to be discontinued.

Thank you Phone Arena for providing us with this information.
