Liquid cooling seems to be on the up and coming again and we have seen quite a few new products released in the category lately. One type of product that we see a lot are monoblocks that cool both the CPU itself like a normal heatsink, but also the MOSFET power regulation which is a crucial factor when overclocking but also something that could increase the overall lifetime of your hardware.
The new monoblock from EK WB that we see released this time is specifically designed with ASUS to fit the compact and unique ASUS MAXIMUS VIII Impact motherboard that comes with several daughter boards due to the mITX size and the amount of features and functions ASUS loaded it with.
The new monoblock is called the EK-FB ASUS M8I and with its unique design, it attaches itself to both the motherboard and the MOSFET daughterboard for optimal cooling of both. It is designed out of the EK-Supremacy EVO cooling engine to ensure the best possible CPU cooling as the liquid flows past all the critical components.
The base of the monoblock is made of nickel-plated electrolytic copper while the top is made of quality POM Acetal or acrylic glass material, depending on the variant.
The new EK-FB ASUS M8I should be available at official EK WB resellers now for a suggested retail price of €112.95. Both the Nickel and the Acetal and Nickel versions cost the same, so which you pick is down to your personal choice.
It can be of great benefit to cool your CPU with liquid rather than air, but when you do that, you leave one area exposed. The VRM around the CPU area doesn’t get the same airflow as it would with a fan based cooler and as such you need to pay extra attention to the cooling here.
One way to resolve this issue is with a monoblock and EK Water Blocks just released one of these that will fit ASUS’ X99 motherboard models: X99-A, X-99-DELUXE, X99-PRO, and X99-S.
The EK-FB ASUS X99 Monoblock as it is called is a complete all-in-one CPU and MOSFETs liquid cooling solution for these ASUS motherboards. It is designed in cooperation with ASUS and uses the award-winning EK-Supremacy EVO cooling engine. All critical areas are covered with a liquid flow that should ensure a stable and effective cooling.
The base of the monoblock is made of nickel-plated electrolytic copper while the top is made of quality POM Acetal or acrylic glass material, depending on the variant. Both models cost the same, €119.95, and are available directly from EK WB as well as partner resellers.
Which is your preferred cooling method? Traditional air, all-in-one liquid coolers, or maybe even a complete custom liquid cooling setup? Let us know in the comments.
EK is a brand synonymous with exquisite custom water cooling blocks and a highly respected name in the industry. The latest addition to their line-up is the M8G Monoblock which supports the Maximus VIII Hero, Ranger and Gene. Niko Tivadar, EK’s Chief of R&D said about the product announcement:
“With this release, we are bringing Full Board M8G Monoblock for three MAXIMUS VIII motherboards simultaneously and customers have much more liquid cooling options available when choosing their next ASUS ROG Z170 series motherboard.”
“Monoblock for the ASUS MAXIMUS VIII EXTREME is also already in the works.”
Designed and engineered in cooperation with ASUS®, the Monoblock utilizes EK-Supremacy EVO’s award-winning cooling engine to ensure best possible CPU cooling. This water block directly cools Intel® LGA-1151 socket type CPU and power regulation (MOSFET) module as water flows directly over all critical areas. It is a very high flow water block that can be easily used with the system using weaker water pumps.
The Monoblock’s base is constructed from nickel-plated electrolytic copper while the top is made of premium POM Acetal or acrylic glass material, depending on the variant.
From a visual standpoint, both designs are stunning.
