It might be tempting to take along the old memory card when getting a new smartphone or tablet, and while that choice might save you a couple of bucks to begin with, it might cost you your time instead. A great example would be LTE users, it doesn’t help you much to have a fast mobile connection when your storage can’t handle the same speeds.
Apacer has just unveiled their latest memory card, a microSDXC UHS-I U1 memory card with 128GB capacity. The new U1 rated card can achieve speeds up to 80MB/s reading and 20MB/S writing while having enough storage space to keep a lot of captured moments stored. A 128GB card like this can store around 32 thousand JPG photos or 45 hours of HD video.
Apacer will also make smaller capacities available: 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB. No word on pricing or availability yet, but we’ll update you as soon as we know more.

Lexar announced the new Professional 1000x microSDHC and microSDXC UHS-II cards designed for sports camcorders, tablets, and smartphones. The new cards come bundled with a highspeed USB3 card reader and the cards themselves can deliver transfer speeds up to 150MB/s.
These new cards are perfect for everything from HD, 3D and 4K photo and video capture, and also for aerial content recorded with drones and quad copters. The new cards are available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities allowing for more than 15 hours HD video on the biggest version.
“As the many uses for microSD cards grow and evolve, we want to provide users with the best possible workflow solution,” said Adam Kaufman, director of memory card product marketing, Lexar. “The Lexar Professional 1000x microSD UHS-II cards allow users to enjoy the benefits of the latest UHS-II devices, while also performing at the maximum speed threshold of UHS-I devices, and provide exceptionally fast file transfer when used with the included reader. Whether it’s with a tablet, smartphone, or quadcopter, the new Professional 1000x microSD UHS-II cards will capture and move content faster than ever before.”
The new cards are backwards compatible to older standards, but they won’t reach the same amazing speeds there. The release is scheduled for the first quarter of 2015 and the attached MSRP will be $59.99 for the 32GB card, $109.99 for the 64GB card, and $189.99 for the 128GB sized card.

With the ever-growing need for more storage due to better hardware that is able to take better photos and videos in high-resolutions, bigger memory cards are starting to become a must. We’ve seen many companies recently upgrade their lineups with more capacity and now it’s become Patriot’s time.
Patriot Memory is upgrading their LX Series of SDXC and microSDXC cards with new versions that double the previous maximum capacity. The LX Series UHS-I Class 10 SDXC Flash card is now available up to 256GB while the LX Series UHS-I Class 10 microSDXC flash card is available up to 128GB.
Both new cards are compatible with the latest SD Association 3.0 specifications and can deliver write speeds up to 20MB/s. The SDXC card can read with up to 80MB/s while the microSDXC card has a reading speed of up to 70MB/s. Both cards are backed by a 5-year warranty and customer service.
The cards should be available shortly at popular retailers around the world. The MSRP is set to $129.99 for both the 256GB SDXC and 128GB microSDXC cards.
