World Of Warcraft: Legion Release Date Revealed

Five months ago now Blizzard started taking pre-orders for the sixth World Of Warcraft expansion, Legion. The expansion pack now has a confirmed release date, with it set to release on August 30th.

The sixth expansion will follow on from the fifth expansion, Warlords of Draenor, with Blizzard stating that “all hellfire is about to break loose”. With the new continent, the Broken Isles, and a new class, the Demon Hunter class, players will be spoilt for choice as they wield new artifacts and encounter demon hunters, the disciples of Illidan Stormrage, a popular character in the Warcraft series.

If you can’t wait to join the action, anyone who pre-orders the expansion gets a single level 100 boost, so any new characters (or old ones) can join in on the Broken Isles action the second the game releases, while pre-orders will also get access to the Demon Hunter class before the expansion even releases!

With subscriptions for the online MMORPG falling at a staggering rate, could the new expansion be what the game needs to bring new life to the franchise or could the new movie bring in fans both old and new to the series in order to save the world?

Are you a fan of the game? Are you someone who used to play the game? Could this expansion interest you into giving the game a new go or are you more interested in the patch that Warcraft 3 will soon receive?

Elon Musk’s Supersonic Hyperloop Opening Time Revealed

The future of tomorrow, today. Well not entirely, but it is getting closer and we know have an official time frame for the Supersonic Hyperloop train by Elon Musk and his team. The plans have long existed and they’ve come closer to reality every day. 2016 will be the year where it all starts, but it won’t be the year that we get to ride this hyperspeed train yet.

The construction of the 760mph (about 1220 km/h) Supersonic Hyperloop is set to begin within weeks where a five-mile long test track will be built around Quay Valley in Kings County, California. Elon Musk first revealed the train in a whitepaper three years ago, which isn’t that long ago. He himself won’t be actively involved in these steps of the process for the Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) company, as he’s already CEO of Tesla and SpaceX that surely keeps him more than busy.

The new Hyperloop won’t just be built around an existing town as Elon Musk is a man that thinks big. Quay Valley is a proposed 75,000-resident community that will be solar powered and placed halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. The land will be surveyed in the coming few weeks over February and March while the actual construction set to begin in the middle of 2016. So when will the public be able to ride this new supersonic train? That date is a bit further down the road, but not too far either as it will open to the public in 2018. At least that is the plan according to HTT.

Now we just need to cross our fingers and hope that it doesn’t turn into a Simpon’s styled Monorail and that it can stop better than the Falcon 9 can land. The only really sad part thing around the hyperloop is, that it is being built so far away for most of us that we don’t really have the biggest of chances to ride it.

Paypal Leaks Steam’s Upcoming Winter Sale Date

The Steam digital distribution client gained notoriety for deep discounts on a wide selection of games from niche indie titles to AAA blockbusters. Although, in recent years, the sales haven’t been as enticing and many people flock to third-party key resellers to acquire the latest games at rock bottom prices. Nevertheless, during any Steam event, there’s always some bargains to be found. As you might expect, Valve is planning a Winter Sale for the holiday period. Furthermore, The Dark Side of Gaming received an advert from Paypal leaking the sale’s date:

It’s not uncommon for Steam sale dates to be revealed beforehand, but it’s certainly an error on Paypal’s part. Unless, they want to inform people prior to the sale to purchase Steam gift cards. Whatever the case, December 22nd isn’t too far off and I cannot wait to see which games I can pick up for low prices. Sadly, it looks like there won’t be able flash deals, or daily deals due to the recent Steam Refund Policy. This does take away some of the excitement factor and I loved the countdown when new deals arrived each day.

Kingsman: The Secret Service Sequel Release Date Revealed

Shaken, not stirred, the classic line from a classic spy. James Bond has gripped the nation for generations, from the golden gun to Spectre, the world of spies and villains have taken our memories and dreams. Recently though, it is the underdog that has often taken the spotlight, from the tales of Alex Rider the boy spy to the younger James bond, we’ve seen it all.

Last year we got to see what would happen if you took someone from an everyday background and made them a spy, or to be more precise a Kingsman. Soon though we could see the next tale in this saga on our screen, but sadly not as soon as some may desire.

Grossing in over $400 million, Kingsman was a surprise hit for 20th Century fox. Based on the graphic novel by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, Kingsman: The Secret Service was popular with all kinds due to its unique characters and tales, often mocking the films that it drew its inspiration from.

An initial release date for the sequel is set for June 16th, 2017.

How many times have you dreamed of being a spy? Are you fan of Kingsman and would you see its sequel Kingsman 2?

Mighty No.9 Release Date Confirmed

8 Bit and 16 bit side scrolling games. The classics that are remembered by many as the start of their gaming lives are due an update and Deep Silver and Comcept look to do just that with the release of Mighty No. 9.

The game has been plagued by delays, to the point where even the demo that was promised was pushed back by the companies involved. Finally, Deep Silver and Comcept have come forward with a release date, that resides less than five months from now.  In America, you will be able to get Mighty No. 9 on the 9th February with the whole world gaining access on the 12th.

The concept of a side scroller was made famous by games like the Megaman series. You are challenged by aesthetically different environmental hazards and enemies as you jump, climb and shoot your way to the boss awaiting you at the end of the level. Defeating them will grant you access to their weapon, allowing you to complete the level and any subsequent levels with their abilities.

With 9 initial levels followed by 3 later on, you’ll be able to play a variety of levels and see who is best suited to what weapon.

With a variety of levels and options available, platforming games often make appearances at tournaments where speed running is the flavour of the day. Challenging your friend to see who can complete a level faster and with the better score is always a nice challenge and one that is rarely done without a smile.

AMD Representive Confirms Dual Fiji Release Schedule

AMD showcased their new line of AMD Radeon R7 and R9 300 series graphics cards as well as the much-anticipated Fury, Fury X, and Fury Nano at their big event during E3 this year. Up until the event, we saw a lot of leaks and information about all those cards and knew most already.

But AMD still had one ace up their sleeve and one that I don’t think anyone expected. Their Quantum gaming PC built with a dual-GPU graphics cards. But that isn’t just some GPUs on there, those are two Fiji GPUs with 4GB HBM memory each; That is some serious GPU power in a compact form factor.

We got very sparse information about the card at the E3 event and it was only mentioned to be released after the other cards and without any specific time frame.

AMD just held the press event for the Australian launch of all these cards and TweakTown had their guy Anthony Garreffa present. Being prepared to find out more, he headed straight for the stage to get some answers from AMD and a great picture of the new card.

The representative cornered didn’t want to reveal too much either, but gave the confirmation that the new dual Fiji GPU graphics card will be released this year. Seeing as we’re already halfway through the year, an estimated guess would be November. If it will be called the Radeon R9 Fury X2 or something else still remains unknown as the rep didn’t want to confirm anything on the naming.

First Apple HomeKit Devices Get Their Launch Date

Nearly a year ago, Apple revealed its revolutionary way of controlling smart appliances with the help of your iPad or iPhone. However, nearly a year has passed and we have yet to see any devices that we can actually use with Apple’s tech. Why? Well, big ideas don’t really work as well in real life as they do on paper.

Rumour has it that iOS devices required a substantial amount of memory to control smart appliances, so the company had to trim the code down a bit. This inevitably led to delays, but nothing official came from Apple itself, so we won’t really know what the real deal is. What we do know is that rumours pointing to an August or September launch date for smart appliances have now been scrapped.

Instead, the first HomeKit smart devices will now be launched as soon as next month. Yes, you will be able to browse around store looking for things to control with your iOS device as early as June. One of the main reasons that influenced an early release date seems to come Apple’s partners, who wish to push out their own contraptions as early as possible, even though the first certification program for the HomeKit was introduced late last year.

What all of this means is that we are likely to be hit by a variety of HomeKit-enabled iOS controllable smart devices by the end of the summer. How exciting is this? Are you going to be among the first who buy one of such devices? Let us know!

Rainbow Six Siege All Platforms Release Date Revealed

Ubisoft brings some good news at last! Rainbow Six fans will be excited to know that Siege will actually be launching this year, namely on October 13th for the PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms. Also, the company notes that customers who pre-order the title will get access to its closed beta test as soon as it launches.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is a successor to the cancelled Rainbow Six Patriots title, which uses the AnvilNext engine. Ubisoft plans to focus the titles gameplay on more team play and realism and looks to take a similar approach as the Battlefield series in terms of multiplayer by focusing on a heavy multiplayer mode and destructive environments.

The company looks to be releasing an alpha test exclusively for Microsoft’s Windows platform, while the closed beta will be available on all platforms. I don’t know about you guys, but if you played the Vegas ad Vegas 2 titles back in 2006 – 2008 and know the gameplay experience, then add Battlefield’s heavy multiplayer scenario to the mix, you should be excited for its release as I am. So how excited are you? Still not as much? Then have a look at the title’s release date announcement trailer below and get your hype up!

Tesla Model 3 Release Date Revealed

Elon Musk, owner of the outstanding Tesla EV company has finally announced the expected release date of the highly anticipated Model 3. During the quarterly financial conference call for Tesla, Musk finally disclosed the release date of the wallet-friendly Model 3.

According to Musk, Tesla will reveal the car sometime in March 2016. Now Tesla has to deliver here, the current Model S and the upcoming Model X are simply stunning. Exterior design is one thing, but with the Model 3 expected to be around 20% smaller than the Model S; interior designers needs to keep an eye on space..

As for the actual launch date, Musk has stated 2017 with a key emphasis on late 2017. Now Tesla has a little track record of releasing its cars a tad late, so hopefully we will see the Model 3 in early 2018 at the latest.

For you who are a bit confused with all of these ‘Models’, here’s a quick breakdown; the Model S is Tesla’s current flagship car, the Model X is a crossover vehicle and the Model 3 is Tesla’s ‘Ace’, an EV for everyone with a price of just $35,000. That might seem steep, but this is $35,000 for a proven all EV, I would have a serious consideration for one as my next car.

If the Model 3 does hold a price around $35,000, would you consider one as a future car? Do you think Tesla have waited too long to release a more budget-friendly version? Let us know in the comments.

The Legend of Zelda for Wii U Has Been Pushed to a Next Year Release

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma have announced a few months back that The Legend of Zelda for the Wii U will be releasing in 2015, but fans will be disappointed to hear that Nintendo recently came forth and announced that the game will have a delay, pushing back the release date further into 2016.

“In these last three months, as the team has experienced firsthand the freedom of exploration that hasn’t existed in any Zelda game to date, we have discovered several new possibilities for this game,” Aonuma explained. “As we have worked to turn these possibilities into reality, new ideas have continued to spring forth, it now feels like we have the potential to create something that exceeds even my own expectations.”

“We are no longer making our 2015 release our number one priority. Instead, our priority is to make it the most complete and ultimate Zelda game,” he added. “I hope to use the added time to make The Legend of Zelda for Wii U into a game that will reward you for your patience.”

Also, the push-back seems to have affected more than just the release date, having Nintendo announcing that it will not showcase the title at E3. This could also indicate that a release in the first quarter of 2016 is highly unlikely.

Hipster Sells Dates With Himself on Indiegogo

A hipster from London has reached the bottom of the pit when it comes to ridiculous crowdfunding projects. 26-year-old Tom Packer is offering 13 dates in return for contributions to his Indiegogo campaign.

“There’s a popular theory, which states that on average it takes 13 dates to find love. A crazy optimist that I am, I would love to put this theory to the test.”

His ‘rewards’ range from the hilarious to the uncanny; like £100 for “a guaranteed date with Tom” to “a signed limited edition print of my face and diary updates” for £10. He’ll also “take you” on a date to Paris if you give £1000. Plus, if you wish to simply be a sponsor of Tom’s quest for love, you can give £25 for a “shout-out” where Tom will “mention you to my date and send you a photo of us together (date permitting)”.

While it seems like an elaborate joke, or perhaps a publicity stunt, this isn’t the first time someone has used crowdfunding for something ridiculous. Last year a guy in the US actually got away with raising $55,000 so he could make potato salad. Yes, potato salad.

While it’s unlikely Tom will find potato salad level success, he’s certainly got himself a date – 2 people have already paid for the £100 option as of writing.

8 Years Ago Today The iPhone Was Born

There’s a constant raging debate between tech lovers over different companies and their products. Mac or PC, iOS or Android, PlayStation or Xbox, PC or Console… the list goes on. But there are a number of seminal moments in the history of technology that most of us can agree on. Those inventions or product introductions that changed everything in their industry.

One of those events occurred 9 years ago, on January 9th 2007, when Steve Jobs stood on stage at the Moscone Center in San Francisco to introduce the iPhone. There had been smartphones before it – the BlackBerry as the biggest example. But no phone had really been ‘smart’ until that point. Sure, some phones had internet access, some had touchscreens, but none of them really put all of those things together in one compelling and highly useful device.

A smartphone today really is the appropriate miniaturisation of the functions of the PC to a handheld device, with the iPhone being the first of its kind to do that properly. It essentially became the blueprint for every smartphone following it.

Bellow you can witness the iPhone keynote itself, what has been called one of the greatest and most important product introductions in history. A presentation that definitely shows Steve Jobs at his finest.

Study: Android Fans are More Dateable Among Other Findings

Are iOS and Android users really that different? Well, according to British market research firm YouGov’s latest report – they claim that Apple users are reportedly “smart, funny and confident” but also can be self-described as having a “lack of control, self-willed tendencies and are insecure”.

I know exactly what you’re thinking – “Lack of self control”. ‘Apple drones’ comes immediately to mind – a commonly used name by Android fanatics to label those who like to purchase the latest Apple tech upon release, no matter what the features, pricing or limitations may be.

YouGov has also published reports on the differences between these members of the public having a sway toward different brands, celebrities, teams and music – but for now let’s focus on the basics. Their studies further concluded on average, Apple users have more spare spending money and rank within a higher ‘social hierarchy’ than Android users. Apple inclined consumers have been reported as mostly Beyonce fans, compared to Android lovers preferring Olly Murs, alongside reports that iPhone owners are more likely to support the right in political debates, when compared to the more-left inclined Android population.

The ‘average’ iPhone user has been listed as a female in the range of 25-39 years old, nestled within the middle to upper class society and likely working within media publishing and marketing. They’ve also said this user is likely to live in London or some of the UK’s most prosperous coastal areas including central or southern Scotland. She is also said to have more than 1,000 GBP budget spare per month for spending on goods such as technology offerings.

This is a rather heavy contrast to Android users, who are reported as living in poorer areas of the UK and listed as a young man aged 18-24. He may have serious leftist tendencies and is pursuing employment in the IT industry, journalism, publishing, energy or utilities. He’s could be experiencing a career low point and have less than 125 GBP a month budget spare.

They even went as far as to list food preferences, listing Apple inclined people to enjoy some grilled cheese or spicy nachos, whereas Android fans are likely to dine on some roasted pigeon – which comes as a surprise as this food is a much more expensive option.

Take it as you want, this study of UK citizens has been developed across real life data – we’re sure that it will give Android and Apple users alike much more to fuel their constant bickering. Meanwhile, those who simply don’t care enough to argue will enjoy their lower blood pressures.

If you’re keen in seeing some more of the data and have a translation program handy, you can see the information here.

iPad Mini 3 Expected for Release on October 16th

Apples latest iteration of its iPad mini is expected to be unveiled on the 16th of October – a date that Apple has sent press conference invitations for.

This new 7-inch tablet is expected to be released under a different name however, with speculation from some sources claiming it won’t follow suit of a normal number naming protocol – its older brother was not released as the ‘iPad mini 2’, but called the ‘iPad mini with Retina display’.

Starting 10pm Pacific time (6pm UK time) on Thursday, Apple is expected to release this new product to the world in Berlin, Germany. The new tablet is expected to be for sale before two weeks time after this date.

There isn’t really any official information as to the new iPad mini specifications, but we’ve been able to bring together some leaks and rumors for you:

  • A very similar look and feel to the iPad mini 2
  • Featuring a Retina display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536
  • The introduction of Retina HD (as seen in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus)
  • A rear-facing 4MP and 1.2MP front-facing camera
  • Out-of-the-box iOS8

The price for the new iPad mini is unknown, but be sure to check back to eTeknix as we’ll report on the launch when it happens. For now, we’ll share with you an image leaked of the final design thanks to nowhereelse.

Razer’s Nabu Smartband Said To Be Rolling Out In October

Razer looks to be closer to a final release date for its Nabu smartband than initially thought. A press release earlier this month indicated that Razer is working with mobile gaming developer, Tencent Games, in order to bring ‘Timi Run Everyday’ to the smartband, as well as revealing a fourth quarter release date.

A number of developers and at least 1,000 Razer fans, who got to smartband for $1, have been granted beta access to the device so far. The first changes in the Nabu smartband were noticed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June, when the 32 x 32 pixel display was removed due to user feedback. Also, the upper screen is said to have been ignored most of the time, leading to its complete removal and changing the way the larger screen activates.

Even though Razer pointed to the last quarter of 2014 as a release date for the smartband, it is aiming to release the Nabu smartband sooner rather than later. This is why October is said to be the most suitable release date. Also, developers such as Wargaming, Techland, Halfbrick and Shortbreak Studios have signed on for the Nabu smartband. However, no details on what projects they might be working on was released.

Android Based Sony Walkman ZX1 & F880 Detailed

Sony announces two more additions to the touch-enabled Walkman series after the Sony Walkman F886, announced at IFA 2013, Walkman ZX1 and the value oriented Walkman F880.

The former comes with an 128 GB in-built flash storage while the latter comes in three flavors: the 16 GB flavor if you are on a tight budget, or the 32 GB and the 64 GB flavors if you have got some cash to spare.

Both ZX1 and F880 pack a 4.0 inch LCD display(854×480 pixels – FWVGA), run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and bring a lot of connectivity features like NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and also access to Google’s Play Store. The F880 runs on a dual core 1.0 GHz OMAP4 Cortex-A9 chip, while there is no mention of the ZX1′s processor. However what we do know are the colors. While the ZX1 comes only in black, the F880 will be slightly colorful, being available in black, white, pink and blue.

The Walkmans are essentially competitors of Apple’s iPod touch, but Sony says that they’re also built for high-quality audio. They can both play back lossless audio files like FLAC, which greatly improves the quality compared to the regular MP3 formats. Sony also points out an “advanced” built-in digital amplifier, the’ “S-Master HX” digital amp which can reduce distortion and noise, and that it can even “faithfully” remaster files that include compression, creating an ultimate result that sounds just as the artist intended.

The release date is set for the 19th of October and the starting price for the new Walkman handsets will start at ¥27,000( £170 / $276 ) for the basic model.
