Rick and Morty has been a smash hit and while, sure, it’s not the most “tech” news we’ve brought you today, I’m certain that many of our readers will be fans of the crazy antics of the show. After the end of Season 2, Mr. Poopybutthole said in a video (see below) that Rick and Morty would be quite some way off.
““tune in to Rick and Morty Season 3 in like… a year and a half… or longer.”
That would have put the show somewhere near April 2017, but co-creator Dan Harmon told the audience at Magic City Comic Con to expect the show much sooner than expected.
The show is now expected to air towards the end of this year! And while that’s pretty great news for fans, things get even better. The show is stepping up from the usual ten episodes and giving us fourteen full episodes to enjoy for Season 3!
“I think Season 3 is—we’re targeting around the end of this year,” Harmon said, “You guys do realize we’re at the beginning of this year?” he added. “Is there any press here?” Harmon asked. “Nobody blog about this. We’re doing 14 episodes this year.” So I guess, Harmon was betrayed by his fans, they told everyone! (thanks guys).
Rick and Morty Season 3 is already well underway, with writers of the show showing off new scripts and we’ve heard that voice recording sessions are well underway too. What the future holds for Rick and Morty remains to be seen, but at least we don’t have to wait as long!
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is bringing Comic Con to Silicon Valley, and with it a specific emphasis on consumer electronics. Wozniak, affectionately known as “Woz”, aims to blend the usual science fiction and fantasy media and cosplay with what the official Silicon Valley Comic Con site calls “science fact”. As Wozniak told the Associated Press, “I don’t like doing the same thing as everyone else.”
“The emotions we have for technology now are the same as we get for movies, celebrities and the whole pop culture side of our lives,” Wozniak said.
Guests at the event include Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, and Lea Thompson, stars of Back to the Future, plus Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-Long Blog), Karen Gillen (Doctor Who, Guardians of the Galaxy), William Shatner (duh), and Stan Lee (double-duh).
“Silicon Valley Comic Con will be a show unlike any other, as we bring together the best in technology and entertainment all under one gigantic roof,” Wozniak wrote on the official page. “There are lots of fans like me in San Francisco and the Valley, and I’m excited to finally have a Comic Con with our very own flavor. When I was growing up it was hard to be a geek. It definitely wasn’t cool back then, but I am happy that things have changed because now being a geek, or being different is cool. And Silicon Valley Comic Con celebrates being a geek!”
We all have the inner nerd that screams out from time to time, it could be for something as simple as a signed football or something as extreme as a particular screw being released with only a cross head; everyone is different. One thing most of us can agree on though is Comic-Con is the one-stop-shop for most things stereotypically nerdy. The San Diego Comic-Con is probably the highest rated in the world and some of the big stars show their faces from time to time.
This year, we saw a high-quality trailer of Heroes Reborn, a sequel to the 2006 Sci-Fi series based on regular people who ‘transform’ after a solar eclipse. The trailer focuses on the hunt for ‘Heroes’ or EVO’s as they are named in the trailer and how they rise to protect the world from impending doom; again.
We see a return from fan favourites such as Masi Oka (Hiro), Jack Coleman (Noah) and a grown up Noah Gray-Cabey (Micah) to name a few. Sadly we all know that Hayden Panettiere and Zachary Quinto have no immediate plans to join the new cast, but things could change after the first season if the show picks up enough fans.
Are you excited for the new Heroes, I know I am!

Now that he is done exiting cinema fans with the now iconic Batman movies, Christopher Nolan is back once again with his latest blockbuster Interstellar, an ambitious sci-fi epic that looks set to win yet more awards for the legendary director.
Joining the growing list of surprises that were shown at this years Comic Con in San Diego, the new trailer was shown to attendees of the event, gaining much praise in the process. The trailer features a chilling plot line of human survival and how our days on Earth may be numbered, pushing us to seek no refuge amongst the stars.
There is no point in spoiling the whole thing, you may as well dim the lights, turn it up and enjoy the trailer for yourself!
Firefly has long since established itself as a cult classic, having millions of fans world wide despite the fact that the show had just one season. Fans cried for more (myself included) and after a while we got the movie, yay! Then we cried louder for even more and whilst there have been many attempts, there have been far too many hurdles to cross to make season two a reality.
Whilst the cast of the original series may not be returning to our TV screens, they are set to make an appearance on our PC screens. The original cast will be joining forces once again to voice their respective characters in Firefly Online. Nathan Fillion’s character Captain Malcolm Reynolds even makes an appearance in the games first trailer.
Their involvement with the game was announced a couple of days ago at Comic-Con and I’m sure many are eager to play the game. Firefly Online will be a massive multiplayer game, with each player becoming a captain of a ship, building a crew and venturing out into the galaxy. Unfortunately that’s all we know so far, the concept sounds good and the voice actors are spot on, lets just hope the game doesn’t suck!

I completely forgot that this movie was being made, it seems every year there are a bunch of crazy announcements for sequels to old movies and generally only a handful see the light of day. Fortunately, it looks like the people behind the new Mad Max stuck to their word and this weekend the new trailer for their upcoming movie was played to the crowd at Comic-Con.
I loved the original Mad Max movies when I was younger, they we’re pretty low-budget films, but they’ve earned a solid cult status regardless and now that they’re back with a bigger budget, the series is looking better than ever. Titled Mad Max: Fury Road, the trailer shows the usual excessively violence as drivers try rip each other to pieces in the never-ending scavenger hunt of a post apocalyptic world.
The creator of the original trilogy is on board for the new movie too, so even with a bigger budget and modern special effects it doesn’t look like the movie has lost any of its original charm. Now we just have to wait until next year to find out if its really any good!
There’s plenty of violence and gore in the trailer, so may not be safe for work, unless your boss is a fan of the original movies of course.
Ok we know this trailer looks like someone filmed it using a potato, the quality is pretty dire to say the least, but last night saw the new Batman v Superman trailer played to a crowd at Comic-Con and until now, no one outside of that screening has seen the trailer.
The trailer is pretty short, but we do see the general costume design of both Batman and Superman, pending what looks set to be an epic fight.
Just keep in mind that there are a few adults in the crowd who are a little too excited when the trailer comes on screen, so expect NSFW language.
While early rumours had surfaced that Peter Jackson could direct an episode of Doctor Who, it may not be very possible that the Lord of the Rings director could take the time lord reigns in a future season.
While speaking with SFX, Doctor Who Executive Producer Steven Maffat confirmed that he had discussed the possibility with Jackson, the only real thing stopping Jackson from getting stuck in to the sci-fi series would be his already busy schedule, since work on the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies is still far from over.
““I think it will happen at some point. He’s still incredibly busy on The Hobbit. I’ve spoken to him face to face, and he would like to do one. I mean, he can do what the hell he likes – he owns New Zealand!”
Moffat also added that Peter Jackson was expecting “no money” for the work he could do on Doctor Who, “He’s a nice guy, he quite often drops me a line after a show goes out. He’s into it – it’s just ‘Can you make it work?'” said Moffat, “We give him a Dalek and then he’ll direct an episode,” he said. “That’s what he wants.”
Jackson already owns two Daleks and has already suggested a plot featuring the New Zealand national rugby team, the All Blacks. So, would you want to see what Jackson could do in the Doctor Who director seat? I know I do! Although I’d much rather it involved Orcs and stuff, not rugby players.
Legendary creator and designer Tetsuya Nomura has worked on titles such as Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, creating many of the iconic characters from both series. Now he’s tipped his talents towards the world DC Comics Batman for an upcoming line of Square Enix and DC Comics produced collectible figurines, as part of their Variant Play Arts Kai series.
I must admit, this re-imagined Batman looks freaking awesome! It’s more than enough for me to want a game and / or a movie to be made of this menacing looking vigilante. Plus the design gets bonus points for not having those weird looking nipple add-ons, such as those added to the George Clooney Batman armour.
Overall it looks like a superb villain from the Final Fantasy series, and if you’re eager to add this model to your collection, then you’ll find the Nomura models at San Diego Comic-Con, and retail sales are set to follow shortly.

While there are people in this world intent on breaking the record for the 100m sprint, highest sky dive, fastest time cycling across Europe and many other great achievements, John Reid was blowing up balloons. The New York based artist and magician wanted to break the world record for the biggest thing made out of balloons.
The task took John a staggering 42 hours, using 4302 balloons and the end result for his efforts was not only a new world record, but also a 50ft tall balloon rendition of Optimus Prime. He created the giant Autobot balloon display at the 2014 Salk Lake Comic Con in Utah.
“I hope that somebody else decides to try to take this art a little further and crush me. Trounce me. Wipe the floor with me.” said John.
Given the fun nickname of Poptimus Prime, the creation proved a big attraction and official were on hand to declare it the largest balloon sculpture ever made by a single person. I’m not sure why he set about breaking this record, but it’s entertaining none the less.

Comic-con has been full of surprises this week and Microsoft were there to further push their next-gen hardware to the eager gaming public. Major Nelson was on hand to discuss and demonstrate the hardware, included some features that we’ve been looking forward to seeing.
Project upload was used to show features from Las Vegas gaming event EVO where developers broke a 100+ win streak on the latest edition of Killer Instinct. We now know that the Xbox will record the last 5 minutes of gameplay and upon saying “Xbox record” the console will save out the last 30 seconds for you to upload at your convenience or to play back at a later time.
The Kinect is able to tell when you’ve passed the controller to another player and should their profile be loaded on the console it will automatically configure to their settings, no more worrying about inverted controllers being passed around to non-inverted players etc.
Aside from the regular rumble of the controller, two smaller rumble motors provide feedback for the analogue triggers, which Turn 10 Studios say is making people more confident and better drivers on Forza 5, as they can feel ABS and grip and other surface details that you wouldn’t normally get from the old controllers, but I guess this is one feature we’ll just have to try our selves to believe.
The new Kinect is significantly more precise than the old model, allowing for a demonstration where a face was scanned into the game, mapped to the in-game model and this provides a much better likeness of yourself than the old gamer pic overlay feature would. Not only that but your face geometry and BMI can also be applied, creating a real-time likeness of yourself, but also providing real-time feedback of your facial expressions, an interesting feature for online gaming perhaps?
These are not game specific features either, these are all system level features that any game could take advantage of and it will be interesting to see how they are integrated over the coming months.
