Anonymous Attacks The Canadian Government and Leaks Classified Data

In the real world, the establishment counteracts instances of criminality by an extensive array of resources and a structured organisation. In cyberspace, groups such as Anonymous are organised, well versed in operational hacking activities and are able to use tools which are inexpensive, perhaps this is why governments and companies have yet to get a grip on data which has metaphorically walked out the door, hitched a plane and ended up on someone else’s computer.

The fore mentioned Anonymous have looked to be using techniques to again prise open the gates to documents, as reports have begun to circulate over the leaking of yet another high-level federal document concerning the redevelopment of Canada’s key diplomatic centres in Britain. This alleged leak is the second in a campaign against the Canadian government with the information purporting to include budgetary deficits and the “selling, relocating and refurbishing of Canada’s diplomatic buildings in London”

The documents belong to the Treasury Board of Canada and are dated 6th February 2014, or if this is as many are believing to be authentic, a now very irritated Treasury Board of Canada. These leaks are an attempt by the Cyber infiltration group “to pressure the government over the fatal shooting of a protester in B.C. and the passing of Bill C-51, the controversial anti-terrorism bill that gave expanded powers to police and Canada’s spy agency”.

Meanwhile, sources say that federal authorities are comparing versions of the documents and scanning for discrepancies that may help track down from whose hands it may have slipped.

Have I any sympathy for the Canadian government? Well, you know me don’t you; it demonstrates poor Cyber awareness and a lack of safe practise in the storage of classified documents, remember, the infrastructure has not been breached by a country attacking another state but by a hacktivist group.

Governments are losing the argument when it comes to attacking the criminality of these acts, after all, the actions by this group are against the law, but for me, so are the increased surveillance capabilities of agencies and the implementation and recruitment of external hacking teams, as in the case of, well Hacking Team to be precise.

EVGA Announces Their GeForce GTX 980 Ti Classified ACX 2.0+ Graphics Card

When it comes to the cooling solution, EVGA’s ACX 2.0+ cooling technology along with its MOSFET Cooling Plate show a 13% temperature, while the Straight Heat Pipes are said to further decrease the card’s temperature by 5ºC. This all adds up to a 20% temperature reduction compared to other cards. The ACX 2.0+ cooling solution also helps in delivering more airflow while eating up less power with the help of its optimized swept fan blades, double ball bearings and the low power motor.

EVGA Getting Ready with GTX 980 Classified and Hydro Copper Cards

EVGA is going all out with the new Nvidia series of cards, and are now getting ready to release their 5th and 6th GTX 980 card. We’ve already seen the reference version as well as the one with the new ACX 2.0 cooler, both in normal and Superclocked versions. While these cards already impressed in benchmarks, the next ones will do so even more; I think it will be some time before these cards are forgotten.

The first new card is the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Classified. The GPU of course has 2048 CUDA cores but it runs with a 1291 MHz base clock and has a boost all the way up to 1405 MHz; the classified version still uses 4 GB memory that runs on the given 256-bit interface. It’s clocked at 7010 MHz with a speed of 0.28 ns and a bandwidth of 224.3 GB/s. The card supports up to 4-way SLI and it’s also worth mentioning that the card features a triple BIOS.

The design is very simple, yet beautiful; for the most part it’s just black, but with some slight red accents around the company and brand logo. The cooler is the ACX 2.0 with optimized and swept fan blades, double ball bearings and an extreme low power motor. It delivers more airflow with less power draw than its predecessor, thus unlocking additional power for the GPU.

If you liked the ACX 1.0 cooler, you’ll love this one, it runs 26% cooler, 36% quieter, draws 250% less power and has a 400% longer lifespan; that’s improvement right there!

The second card is the GeForce GTX 980 Hydro Copper, a water cooling ready version of the new flagship. The cooler is created by EK and has a beautiful black finish with the EVGA logo cut out. EVGA wants to tease us some more and still keep the cards tight when it comes to clocks speeds; the card is already rumoured to break several records, so expect it to be impressive.

Edward Snowden Reveals he was Trained as a Spy and Not an Analyst

After leaking information about NSA activities and other secret plots, Edward Snowden makes another statement to the press. This time around, he reveals his own past relations with the secret service and what he actually did when working for them.

Edward Snowden revealed that he was actually trained to be a spy and not as an analyst. In a press statement he mentions that he had worked undercover for the CIA and NSA in different places around the world while pretending to have an assigned job and even a fake identity. He also admits that the secret service denies these allegations while attempting to use a position is his career to ‘distract’ and hide his true work experience.

Snowden added that he had also worked as a lecturer at the Joint Counterintelligence Training Academy, where he states to have developed sources and methods for keeping information and people secure in the most hostile and dangerous environments around the world.

Having been charged with espionage and revoking his passport, Edward Snowden hasn’t been able to leave Russia, where he sought refuge. However, he continues to unveil how the US secret service support mass, warrantless surveillance while civil libertarians, technology companies and others oppose it, emphasising the lack of transparency.

EVGA Reveals Their Z97 Haswell-Refresh Compatible Motherboards

EVGA has just revealed their lineup of new motherboards that are hitting the market along side the launch of Intel’s Haswell refresh. The new boards are pretty much what you would have expected from EVGA, and they’re actually very similar to their EVGA Z87 Classified and EVGA Z87 Stinger, but of course they’ve now been bumped up to support the latest Z97 chipset.

The EVGA Z97 Stinger Mini-ITX features a 10-layer PCB, supports to DDR3 2666MHz DIMMs, four SATA 6Gbps ports, 1 x PCI-e x16 and 5.1 Creative Core 3D audio.

The EVGA Z97 FTW features an ATX form factor, 4 x PCI-e x16 slots, eight SATA 6Gbps ports, four DDR3 DIMM slots, 1 x M.2 connector, dual bios and voltage read points, but no Creative Audio chip like the mini-ITX model.

The flagship of the range is the EVGA Z97 Classified, featuring four DDR3 DIMM slots, eight SATA 6Gbps ports, five PCI-e x16 slots, dual Intel network controllers, one mPCIe slot, Creative Core3d Audio, triple BIOS and support for LucidLogix Virtu MVP 2.

The range starts at $199 for the Stinger right up to $379 for the Classified, not cheap, but they do look pretty awesome, so we look forward to seeing how they perform in the coming weeks and month.

EVGA’s GeForce GTX 780 Ti Classified K|NGP|N Reaches 1933 MHz Core Clock Speeds

It appears that EVGA’s in-house and world’s renowned overclocker KingPin was able to shatter the previous GPU world record with a single GeForce GTX 780 Ti Classified graphic card. With some LN2 and a voltage beyond 1.5V with no additional modding, the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Classified was able to break past the previous world record of a single GeForce GTX Titan scoring an impressive 8439 3D Marks in FireStrike benchmark.

The clocks were set at an impressive 1933 MHz core and 7.8 GHz effective clock for the memory which is just shy of 2 GHz on the core. The card was pumping an impressive bandwidth of 374.4 GB/s when overclocked. The card has an extremely powerful 14+3 phase VRM design powered with an 8+8+6 Pin power configuration and placed with several V-Check Points for enthusiasts. Besides that, the card features an EVBOT connector that allows overclockers and enthusiasts to overclock and tune their cards by preference.

The heatsink itself has three aluminum fin blocks which are inter-connected via 5 or 6 heatpipes. The front of the PCB has a red colored base plate to support it while the back has a black colored plate with a huge KingPin logo. In addition to that, the card is going to feature 3 GB VRAM.

The card is expected to arrive in stores in just under a month now, but details regarding its price are still not available.

EVGA Z87 Classified motherboard Released

EVGA launches the long-awaited Z87 Classified motherboard. Its been quite a while since Intel announced the Z87 chipset and Haswell platform; since then EVGA has been working on their flagship motherboard. The Classified products always hold a special position in the EVGA’s product stack and overall market; the Z87 Classified is no different. Its designed to be the best in the market for those who cannot afford to compromise on anything. Major highlights of the Z87 Classified include a fresh design, beefy VRM and 4-way GPU configuration support.

The Z87 Classified holds a LGA1150 socket at its heart with support for all the latest Haswell CPUs along with the usual four memory slots with support for up to 32GB of 2666+ MHz DDR3 memory. It is also designed on an 8-layer EATX PCB. Lookinga t the expansion slots, the motherboard comes with five PCIe x16 slots, one PCIe x1 slot and one mPCIe/mSATA slot. Verizon: No More Privacy For Customers

NSA or National Security Agency, is invading the privacy of millions of Americans. A top secret document seems to have been leaked and The Guardian was able to get their hands on it, and share it with us. The document can be found HERE. The document appears to have been put into effect on April 25th, and to stay active until June 19th. The information on this court order isn’t suppose to be declassified until 2038, yes you read that right, 2038

When I first read about NSA requiring Verizon to fork over tons of data I started trying to figure out what was going on, personally I do not use Verizon, and I have no idea why Verizon would be targeted for this information, apparently there is something going on that we just don’t know. Below I have ripped apart the document and have tried to understand it, and make it more understandable to you, the reader.

The F.B.I. or Federal Bureau of Investigation and the NSA are working together to find terrorists, this order has been written up in pursuance of 50 U.S.C. § 1861: US Code – Section 1861: Access to certain business records for foreign intelligence and international terrorism investigations.

United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court in Washington D.C. is “Requiring the production of tangible things from Verizon business network services.”

All call detail records or “telephony metadata” created by Verizon for calls between the United States and abroad, or within the United States. This order exempts Verizon from needing to provide communications that originate and terminate in foreign countries.

Telephony metadata includes:

  • Comprehensive communications routing information.
  • Including but not limited to session identifying information (e.g., originating and terminating telephone number
  • International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) number
  • International Mobile station Equipment Identity (IMEI) number, etc.)
  • Trunk identifier
  • Telephone calling card numbers
  • And time and duration of call.

Telephony metadata does not include:

  • Substantive content of any communication, as defined by 18 U.S.C. § 2510(8): “contents”, when used with respect to any wire, oral, or electronic communication, includes any information concerning the substance, purport, or meaning of that communication;
  • Name,
  • Address
  • Financial information of a subscriber or customer.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that no person shall disclose to any other person that the FBI or NSA has sought or obtained tangible things under this Order, other than to: (a) those persons to whom disclosure is necessary to comply with such Order; (b) an attorney to obtain legal advice or assistance with respect to the production of things in response to the Order; or (c) other persons as permitted by the Director of the FBI or the Director’s designee. A person to whom disclosure is made pursuant to shall be subject to the nondisclosure requirements applicable to a person to whom an Order is directed in the same manner as such person. Anyone who discloses to a person described in (a), (b), or (c) that the FBI or NSA has sought or obtained tangible things pursuant to this Order shall notify such person of the nondisclosure requirements of this Order. At the request of the Director of the FBI or the designee of the Director, any person making or intending to make a disclosure under (a) or (c) above shall identify to the Director or such designee the person to whom such disclosure will be made or to whom such disclosure was made prior to the request.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that service of this Order shall be by a method agreed upon by the Custodian of Records of Verizon and the FBI, and if no agreement is reached, service shall be personal.
