Overwatch’s Animated Short Could Reveal More Than a Backstory

In the modern-day and age, marketing materials make a game as much as the actual game itself. Some companies have learnt from this and Blizzard are no exception with the release of their latest animated short film showing us a little bit of story and a teaser of what’s to come. The animated short, titled Recall follows the story of Winston, the super-intelligent gorilla.

The animated short contains not just Winston but also Reaper, a crowd favourite thanks to his dark shotgun’s and teleporting abilities. Winston, on the other hand, is all about his technology, with his main weapon the Tesla Cannon showing enemies a good time while his jetpack and “barrier projector” (let’s call it a shield) all debuting in the short alongside the “primal rage”.

The short includes more than meets the eye on the first pass. With a screen showing a list of Overwatch members, 14 of which we haven’t seen since the early concept art was revealed for the game. With the game set to release in May, will we see more characters before then or will we have to wait for till after its release to start enjoying some of the characters that have been promised to players (at no extra cost we might add)?

Time To Look Great In Diablo III Thanks To Cosmetics Patch

The problem you often find when you play any game with items is that you end up torn between looking good and actually being good. Some of the best look items I’ve ever found in games are mid-tiered, meaning that while they look awesome playing with them actually makes me weaker than I could/should be. This is a problem commonly found with games, but Diablo III has you covered if you felt like you needed a little more style thanks to its new cosmetics patch.

Typically without buying the collectors edition (something that is rather hard to find these days), you were limited in how amazing you could look thanks to the limited pets and wings available for your characters.

The latest patch (2.4.1) is a small one by many standards, but will add a wide range of graphical choices for your characters, from the Wings of Kokabiel making you look like a fairy demon to the Star Helm and Pauldrons calling you to battle in space.

Below you can find just a few of the new items and pets that you will be now able to quest for and upon receiving, look like a true warrior.

Gears Of War 4 Featuring Marcus Fenix’s Son

Warning: this article will contain information regarding Gears of War 4. If you want to experience the game without any spoilered content, this may be an article you want to miss.

Now that we’ve done that, let’s get talking about what we really want to know. Details. Gears of War 4 looks to the be the latest in the series of Gears games, the first of which since Microsoft  purchased the series from Epic Games, its creators. The first bit of information we’ve received about the game is finally here, and that includes screen shots of the new cast and some details about them.

First up you have JD Fenix, featured in the middle above. The name should ring a bell as JD is actually the son of Marcus Fenix, the main character from the original Gears Of War games. Next up you have Delmond (Del) Walker, JD’s long time friend and fellow soldier, found on the left. Before the game took place, JD and Del go AWOL from COG (the military in the Gears of War series) only to find Kait Diaz (found on the right), an outsider who seems to have taken kindly to the former COG soldiers.

Set 25 years after Gears of War 3, the game looks to have a closer feel to the original Gears Of War game, rather than its sequels. With Liam McIntyre, known for playing the Weather Wizard on CW’s The Flash, voicing JD Fenix, the main character will be filled with the rich feeling a good actor brings to the game. Kait Diaz is being voiced by Laura Bailey, known for voicing Olympia Vale in Halo 5: Guardians and Jaina Proudmoore in Blizzard’s World of Warcraft. With Del being voiced by Eugene Byrd, known for his recurring roles on Bones and CW’s the Arrow.

With such a talented line up behind the game, we might even be able to look past the bad release of the previous Gears of War game in the Ultimate Edition on PC.

New Characters Revealed For Super Smash Bros

The Super Smash Bros series is a fighting game made by Nintendo with a mix of their own characters and since the Wii version, characters from other game series. It would seem that Nintendo are keen to keep the sales going, and at Nintendo Direct, their own press event, they were keen to reveal the newest roster of characters for their game.

The initial roster was boosted by the likes of Roy, a character who has previously appeared within the series, Mewtwo and even Ryu from the street fighter series. The latest characters to be introduced to the series include Cloud Strife, the protagonist from the Final Fantasy series. Famous for his giant broad sword and lion emblem, Cloud won’t be joining the series alone.

Cloud will be joined by both Corrin, an armour clad warrior with a flaming serrated blade and a selection of dragon inspired moves and powers. Check out the video below if you want to see Corrin take on the “champions of smash”.

As if this wasn’t enough, Bayonetta is also joining the fight. With pistols strapped to her legs and the ability to summon demon’s limbs to smash her opponents off the screen,check out the video below to see just why you should avoid her in a fight.

Squadron 42 Reveals Voice Actors And Footage

Star Citizen is not only one of the most crowd funded games in history but is easily one of the most anticipated, with the ability to go from piloting a ship and ordering your friends to pilot the ships turrets to boarding and fighting your way through someone else’s ship as a group, eventually taking it over. Piloting, trading and boarding, Star Citizen looks to be an all-encompassing space game. While we await this game we shouldn’t forget the single player campaign, titled Squadron 42, and I doubt after the recent revelations regarding it, we will be able to forget it again.

Set for a release in 2016, Squadron 42 will see its players take the role of a UEE Navy combat pilot, letting you fight both in space and on land as you build everything from your character to the relationships you have with others characters aboard a large Capital Ship.

To bring life to the story, Star Citizen has hired none other than Gary Oldman, Mark Hamil, Gillian Anderso and Andy Serkis among some of many to bring life to the universe. Smash Bros Update Shows New Characters Ahead Of Official Release

Nintendo has a variety of games which are unique to its consoles and handheld game devices. None more iconic than Pokemon and Super Smash Bros. The first being a game about a young man adventuring and collecting a series of creatures while stopping evil organisations from abusing those creatures for personal gain. The latter being Nintendo sticking every character they deem worthy into an arena in the hopes of creating entertainment. Since I have played Super Smash since it was first released, I can say one thing. They succeeded.

With the last major update, Mewtwo was released to owners of the Wii U and 3DS version of the game while others could purchase Mewtwo (with a discount for owning one of the two game variants). This was the first add-on for the game series and recent data mining efforts seem to point two more classic characters joining the fray.

Roy, as seen in the video below, is a sword fighter from Nintendo’s Fire Emblem game series. Roy has appeared before in the game series, making his first appearance alongside his fellow swordsman Marth in Super Smash Bros Melee for the Gamecube.

The second character is not one of Nintendo’s making, instead Ryu from the Street Fighter series will be making an appearance with his famous Hadouken move being revealed (thanks to a copy cat Kirby voice clip). He can once again be seen in the video below.

Grand Theft Auto 5 PC Users Faced with Login Problems over the Weekend

Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 has just hit the PC platform and it already had its fair share of problems. Users with ‘unique’ usernames have been extremely disappointed when attempting to install or play the GTA 5 title over the weekend, having been greeted with the “Rockstar update service is unavailable (code 1)” message.

By ‘unique’ usernames, we mean to say that users with characters outside the alphanumeric table are facing the issue described above. Now let’s stop and think about that for a second… really? I mean how in the world did you not see this coming? Going on a simple forum or scrolling through your list of Steam/Uplay/Origin/Windows/etc usernames reveals the “0b\/|0u$”. People have been creative with their usernames for ages now.

Rockstar Support provided some information on their website, which reads as following:

“We have identified an issue where players with Windows usernames that include characters not found in the table at the bottom of this page will likely run into difficulties when attempting to download, install, or play GTAV. We are currently working on a fix for this issue.”

The company’s support has even stated to have had temporary alternative for the issue, but it involves creating a fresh account. While this gave you access to the game, you wouldn’t have had any previous achievements, friends or stats as on your regular account. Even so, who would want to play on a temporary account and lose everything when they have to switch back to their old one?

A full list of supported characters, according to Rockstar, read as following: “A a B b C c D d E e F f G g H h I i J j K k L l M m N n O o P p Q q R r S s T t U u V v W w X x Y y Z z 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9”

This is now in the past though, since Polygon reported that connection issues are now resolved. However, Rockstar now seems to be investigating some possible progression losses, saves, items and characters that occurred along with the connection problems. Marvel Movies Planned Till 2028!?

Look out DC…Marvel isn’t playing any games.

According to talks with Marvel’s own Kevin Feige they have currently cataloged about 8,000 Marvel characters that can possibly have their own stand alone films.

With Captain America: The Winter Soldier just released, we have Guardians of the Galaxy to look forward to soon in order to expand the story pertaining to Thanos and the Infinity Gems which you would have already been pointed out to starting with the first Avengers and Thor: The Dark World. After that we have Avengers 2: Age of Ultron next year then the sky is the limit! Ant-Man anyone? Doctor Strange? Black Panther? And who knows, maybe if Sony and Marvel can reach an agreement we can hopefully see our favorite web slinger Spiderman make an Avengers appearance 😉

Marvel isn’t slowing down so let’s hope that DC can get their act together starting with Batman vs Superman. But with Ben Affleck as Batman the future is uncertain…
