Feast Your Eyes on These Leaked Screenshots of ARMA 3’s Expansion!

Developed and published by Bohemia Interactive, ARMA 3 is an open-world military tactical shooter game that was released in 2013 for Microsoft Windows. The game has received positive reviews from critics and gamers alike, and it is scheduled to receive a fresh expansion in the first half of 2016. The expansion will be distributed as a DLC and will include a stunning looking archipelago in the South Pacific named Tanoa.

The archipelago will feature eye-catching tropical vegetation, interesting landmarks, a thrilling history and outstanding examples of contemporary engineering. Furthermore, it will boast a surface of over 100 km2, which is larger than GTA V’s map of 81 km2 but probably smaller than Witcher 3’s 136 km2 open world. Aside from this considerable stretch of new land, the expansion will also comprise new weapons, attachments, gear, vehicles and new characters, all of which are bound to breathe new life into the 3-year-old title.

Below you will find a few leaked screenshots that highlight impressive environments from the new expansion. They include an aerial shot of a massive dig site, a close up of a dense forest and a glimpse of a busy harbor.

Are you looking forward to ARMA 3’s expansion?

Halo Mod for Arma 3 Looks Amazing!

A Halo mod for Arma 3 released by Foehammer Studios has just been released under the name of The Eridanus Insurrection. Its description tells us that the mod focuses on the civil war between the UNSC (United Nations Space Command) and the Insurrectionists, who are various groups of rebel factions within the human colonies.

The mod is said to add a multitude of factions, wider variety of weaponry and vehicles and a custom-made terrain for users to play on when the final version is released. Currently, the mod is at its 0.1 alpha stage and can be downloaded from here.

Halo fans should know that the mod will not include Covenants or Master Chief himself. Still, the idea itself seems promising!

Bohemia Interactive Reveal Free To Download Arma 3 Zeus DLC

Bohemia Interactive have announce that their first planned DLC for Arma 3: Arma 3 Zeus, will be made available in the second quarter of this year, the free Zeus DLC delivers a new form of multiplayer in which players can take on the role of Game Master and curate the online battles of other players. This new mode looks set to really change the pace of play for online gaming and I wouldn’t have expected anything less from the developer that brought us Arma 3 and Day-Z.

Improvisation is the ultimate key to success in Arma 3 Zeus. Inspired by popular tabletop games such as ‘Dungeons & Dragons’, a limited number of players can assume the role of Game Master, and influence the multiplayer experience of those with boots on the ground. Watching the battlefield from a bird’s-eye view, wielding an intuitive real-time editor, Zeus can create, manipulate or expand mission content to generate new stories and a flow of challenges. The result is incredibly dynamic, unscripted combat gameplay – and multiplayer sessions which are filled with unexpected, challenging, and creative events.

The idea of having a battlefield that really will unfold depending on the whim of the human controlling it sounds stunning and you can’t beat that human element with AI, at least not yet. Sure this is likely set to be subject to some level of trolling, but it’ll be interesting how the developers allow you to control and how quickly you can change the battle dynamics when you’re in the big seat.

The Zeus multiplayer concept works across all familiar multiplayer game types, such as Team Deathmatch and Sector Control, where players can either work with or go up against Zeus. The most distinctive game type in Arma 3 Zeus, however, is ‘Zeus Game Master’. Here, Game Masters are entirely free to create objectives, spawn units, and steer players across Arma 3’s massive Altis and Stratis terrains.

On top of the diverse range of official Zeus scenarios that will be available, Arma 3 Zeus can also be implemented into player-created multiplayer scenarios.

“The best thing about Arma 3 Zeus is how naturally it fits within the game. Dynamic combat, massive islands, and editing features – it was all there. But now we’ve added an interface which gives players full control over the multiplayer experience”, said Zeus’ Design Lead Karel Moricky. “The Zeus system is pretty modular too, so community creators can easily use it in their missions. Or take it apart and turn into something completely different. There are no rules, only those you make yourself.”

While the reveal trailer already gives a taste of what to expect, the Arma 3 development team will also be hosting an official ‘Arma 3 Zeus Gameplay Reveal’ livestream this Saturday, February 15th, at 17:00 UTC. During the livestream, Zeus’ Design Lead Karel Moricky and Arma 3’s Creative Director Jay Crowe, alongside other core members of the Arma development team, will be giving a one-hour demonstration of how it is to play as Zeus and what it’s like to be one of Zeus’ subjects. The session will be streamed live from Bohemia Interactive’s HQ in Prague onto Arma 3’s Twitch.tv channel.
