EVGA Bundles Grey Goo With Select Power Supplies

Getting free games bundles with your graphics card or motherboard isn’t something new, that has been around for quite a while now, but it is a rarity that we also see games being bundled with power supplies. In fact, I can’t remember it happening before myself. However, that is exactly what EVGA has done as the have gone ahead and bundled Grey Goo Definitive Edition with select power supplies.

The game isn’t just bundled with a one or two power supplies, this offer applies to pretty much the entire 80Plus Gold, Platinum, and Titanium rated power supply lineup, as you can see in the list below. Ranging from entry level 550W models all the way up to impressive 1600W models, the offer is made available for most people.

Grey Goo is a real-time strategy (RTS) game that combines classic strategy mechanics and a balanced combat system with an emphasis on large-scale decision-making. It puts you at the centre of a tactical struggle for survival – and ultimately, control of Ecosystem 9.

The game features both a single-player campaign as well as multiplayer action with your friends and enemies. In single player, you have the option to play one of three factions: Humans, Beta, and the Goo. The Humans are the masters of defensive architecture while the Beta only is described as a proud and versatile alien race. The Goo is probably what most people will want to play tho as that is the enigmatic and highly mobile life form made up of, yes you guessed it, grey goo. In the multiplayer part, you also get a fourth faction, the disruptive and unpredictable Shroud.

As always with this kind of offer, there are a few conditions to get the free game. You’ll have to have purchased the power supply on March the 25th, 2016 or later from an authorized reseller. You’ll also need to register the purchased product to get the game key. Once you’ve followed the redeem guide, you’ll get a game code emailed that you then can activate through your Steam app as you most likely have done with so many games before.

All the fine-print and the links to redeem your game can be found on the official mini-site for this Grey Goo offer.

Enermax Announces the Revolution X’T II PSU

Enermax launched their Revolution X’T series of Power supplies a few years back and now they are back with the successor to the series, the Revolution X’T II power supply. The new line of PSUs is built with the best components such as 100% Japanese capacitors as well as quite a few awesome features.

The Enermax Revolution X’T II power supply will be available as 450W, 550W, 650W, and 750W models and all of them come with the 80 Plus Gold certification and part of that is thanks to the use of 105°C Japanese electrolytic capacitors for maximum durability and stability.

The flat and modular cables help you to run a neat setup where you can leave out all the cables that you don’t need. Fewer cables make for a better-looking build and it also helps to decrease resistance and allow for a better airflow in your system. Speaking of air flow, the Revolution X’T series comes with a 139mm fan made by Enermax themselves and utilizing the patented Twister bearing fan to offer low noise at the same time as a long lifespan.

Another feature that will help to prolong the lifetime of the Revolution X’T series is the patented HeatGuard, also known as Fan-delay. It will keep the PSU fan running for 30 to 60 seconds after shutdown to dissipate the remaining system heat and thereby prolong the system life. Enermax also added all the relevant normal protections such as OCP (3.3V/5V), OVP, OPP, SCP, and SIP.

The power supplies are rated for 24/7 usage at 40 degrees which again is a sign that the PSU should live a very long time due to the use of components. Enermax also backs the units with a 5-year warranty.

The REVOLUTION X’t II series will be available in the retail market in February 2016, so that will be any day now.

Aerocool Reveals Xpredator PSU Price and Availability

Aerocool recently revealed the new line of 80Plus Gold certified Xpredator power supplies, but at the time, they didn’t reveal the availability nor the pricing. We now have both these information at hand and will naturally share them with you. The new Aerocool Xpredator 550W, 650W, 750W, and 1000W models will be available at e-tailers and retails starting this week for a price of €75.00, €83.00, €88.50, and €139.00 Euro respectively.

With these four capacity options and a very reasonable price tag for a power supply unit with a gold rated efficiency, these PSUs should become quite popular despite that Aerocool mostly is known for their cooling options and PC chassis. The Xpredator Gold Series power supply units feature a modular design for easy cable management and convenience and the PSU also comes with some removable cable straps for further improvement in the cable management options. They use a single 12 Volts rail for high compatibility and extremely high current output. The maximum voltage deviation of the single rail is at ±3% thanks to the DC-to-DC design.

Aerocool installed a 120mm fan in the PSU which helps with the cooling and noise generation and the top model even comes with a 140mm. The PSUs support both the ATX12V v2.4 as well as EPS v2.92 so you can use them in all your setups. The main 20+4P and CPU 4+4P cable straps are up to 600mm long and sleeved. The removable cable straps, on the other hand, are utilizing black flat cables. You also get all the protections that you’ll want, including OVP, OCP, OPP, UVP, SCP, and SIP.

SilverStone Releases World’s Smallest Platinum Certified PSUs

The times where a powerful PC system needed to take up a lot of space is long gone, at least when we think in home use scenarios and not server farms. Size is one thing and we like to keep it small and out of the way most of the times, we just want the systems to work and provide their services, preferable as efficient as possible. With these two things in mind, SilverStone created the new Strider Platinum series of power supplies that are the world’s smallest 80 Plus Platinum full-modular ATX power supplies.

SilverStone offers three new versions in the Strider Platinum series, a 550W model (ST55F-PT), a 650W model (ST65F-PT), and a 750W model (ST75F-PT). All three units come with the same benefit of only being 140mm deep, that is quite a bit smaller than usual. The fully modular cables allow for a neat setup where you only connect what you actually need. The highly efficient PSUs are 24/7 certified for continuous power output with an operating temperature of 40 degrees Celcius.

The single +12V rail is class-lading and the PSUS have a strict plus minus 3% voltage regulation and low ripple and noise. Speaking of noise, not electronical but audible, the ultra-silent 120mm fan with intelligent semi-fanless operation keeps that down too.

The new SilverStone Strider Platinum PSUs will be available on October the 19th for an MSRP of $131.88, $143.88, and $165.48 respectively, exclusive VAT.

Corsair Unveils New RMx PSU Series

If you should be in the market for a new power supply or maybe a completely new system, then you might want to take a closer look at corsair’s latest offering. The new Corsair RMx series is 80 Plus Gold certified and comes with 550W, 650W, 750W, 850W and 1000W capacities.

The new series boasts one of the most popular features as of late as it decreases the overall noise in your system. Corsair HX750i Fully Modular Platinum Power Supply Review

Introduction & Packaging

Corsair is one of the most recognisable brand names in the PC market. They’ve huge a vast range of chassis, peripherals, storage, memory, power supplies and more! As well as years of history with consumers and a fiercely loyal fan base that has served them pretty well too. Their power supplies are some of the most popular around, especially their budget friendly models, which have been a prime choice with system builders around the world.

Today, we’ll be taking a look at their HX750i, a high-end 80 Plus Platinum rated unit that will be well suited to powerful single GPU systems and even some dual-GPU systems. The extremely efficient power delivery is certainly appealing, but will come at a premium, but you’ll also find Corsair Link, fully modular cables, a Zero RPM fan mode, a 7-year warranty and more, so Corsair is certainly doing a lot to tempt you to invest in a high-end unit.

“HXi Series power supplies give you extremely tight voltage control, virtually silent operation, and a fully modular cable set. With all Japanese 105°C capacitors, they’re a great choice for high performance PCs where reliability is essential. 80 PLUS Platinum efficiency reduces operating cost and excess heat, and together with Zero RPM Fan Mode technology, gives you virtually silent operation.” Corsair

The packaging is really nicely designed, with a clear image of the PSU on the front, showing off those fully modular connectors.

Around the back, a few technical details about the efficiency and the zero RPM fan mode.

In the box, you’ll find a large and durable component bag, which houses all of the cables for the PSU. This is handy for storing any you’re not using, should you need them in the future.

Cooler Master Launches V Series Power Supply Units

Cooler Master officially launched their new V-series power supplies today and they look to be quite impressive. The V Series power supplies feature the most stable and efficient power supply unit in its class thanks to exclusive 3D circuit design and Silencio FP technology.

The new V-series power supplies are available in three different designs, one with 550W, one with 650W, and one with 750W. The three new units come with a fully modular design that includes flat cables. The V-series comes with Gold and Platinum ratings, but these three new units are all Gold. Cooler Master managed to put all this technology into a compact form factor that will fit pretty much any chassis that can take ATX power supplies.

The Silencio FP fan technology enhances the possible airflow and reduces vibrations at the same time. In return, you get an even more stable power supply.

The V550 and V650 come with the usual 20+4-pin and 4+4-pin motherboard connectors while the V750 features an extra 4+4-pin. The two small units feature two PCIe 6+2-pin connectors and the V750 again doubles that. When it comes to SATA, Molex, and Berg connectors, it looks a bit different. The V550 features six SATA power, three MOLEX, and one Berg. The V650 and V750 have eight SATA power connections, six Molex, and 1 Berg/Floppy connector.

The three new units will be available in Europe at the beginning of October 2015 for an MSRP of £89.99, £99.99, and £109.99 respectively for the V550, V650, and V750.

If your interest has been sparked, then I’d recommend that you head over to our review section and check out the full review on the new Cooler Master V750 PSU.

Cooler Master V750 Modular Power Supply Review

Introduction

Cooler Master is one of most recognisable and well-respected names in the PC component market. Over the years, Cooler Master has created some of the best power supplies, coolers and chassis around, not forgetting their gaming division CM Storm, which has delivered some very impressive headsets, keyboards, mice and much more too! With all that in mind, I am very excited to see another Cooler Master product in the office today, their brand new V750 power supply, which promises premium performance in a tidy and compact form factor.

“V Series power supplies feature the most stable and efficient power supply unit in its class thanks to exclusive 3D circuit design and Silencio FP technology. The V Series has fully modular flat cables with energy-saving 80PLUS Gold/Platinum ratings all delivered in a compact design smaller than most Power Supply Units (PSUs) in its class. The V series family is available in V550, V650, V750, V850, V1000 and V1200 watt variants perfect for gamers, enthusiasts and even system builders.” – Cooler Master

The V750 uses a unique 3D circuit design, Cooler Master’s own Silencio FP fan technology, fully modular flat cables, 100% Japanese capacitors and much more. The overall quality is reflected in the fact that this tidy, 150 x 140 x 86, form factor still delivers 750W of power at an 80 Plus Gold efficiency

There are three models available, the 550W, 650W and the 750W. We have the 750W at our disposal today, but all models come with 100-240Vac, good active PFC, >100,000 hours MTBF and are backed up by a reassuring 5-year warranty.

The box is very similar to previous Cooler Master designs and features a nice picture of the PSU, as well as a quick run down of the major features; 750W, Japanese Capacitors, 5-year warranty, Silencio fan and 80 Plus Gold.

Around the back, a run-down of the included cables and performance, but we’ll take a closer look at those ourselves in a moment.

In the box, you’ll find a nice cable storage bag, a collection of cable ties, four mounting screws and the mains adaptor.

Cooler Master G750M Semi-Modular Power Supply Review

Introduction & Packaging

Cooler Master is one of the most recognisable brands in the PC component market. They’ve got a huge range of massively successful products, ranging from the CM Storm peripherals to their widely popular chassis and, of course, their power supplies. Cooler Master have created some stunning high-end PSU products over the years, but today we’ll be looking at something a little more modest. Their new G750M is a semi-modular design and comes with a pretty basic and what I would like to call beginner friendly configuration. This isn’t really going to be used for multi-GPU gaming systems, but should still offer plenty of grunt for single GPU gaming systems or desktop/office computers. It’s also modestly priced, offering a competitive and trusted brand name for those that need a good level of power and efficiency, without spending mega-bucks for it.

All the usual protection features are present, including the ever so important OVP and OPP. There’s a full-range input voltage, standard ATX form factor and it’ll output up to 750W, so it’s certainly got a broad appeal for a wide range of systems.

The box is pretty standard, with a nice image of the PSU on the front, as well as a quick run-down of the major features. The most important things there are 80 Plus Bronze efficiency, the single 12V rail and the 5-year warranty.

Around the back a little bit of technical information, but since we’re here to test this unit, we’ll be providing you with our own figures.

In the box, you’ll find a user’s manual, four mounting screws and the mains power cable.

SuperFlower Leadex Platinum 750W & Titanium 1000W Power Supply Review

Introduction & Packaging

SuperFlower is one of the leading names in the PSU market, with a wide range of products that cater to a wide range of budgets, although their specialty certainly seems to be in the high-end market, where they offer an impressive range, both in terms of aesthetics and performance for the enthusiast and prosumer markets. Today, I’ll be taking a look at not one, but two of the latest SuperFlower power supplies; the Platinum rated 750W and the Titanium rated 1000W.

Platinum and Titanium rated efficiencies are both very impressive, especially given that many consumers rarely shop above 80Plus Gold. The end result from these higher ratings is that the PSUs should be extremely efficient and could potentially save you some money on your electricity bill in the long run; which is no bad thing. This isn’t a head-to-head “which is best” review, as they’re both spec’d to have their own strength, one for the usual high-end user, the other is aimed a little more at the enthusiast side, so it’ll be interesting to see if spending that bit extra is really worth it overall.

Packaging and Contents – Leadex Platinum 750W

First up we have the 750W Platinum, which comes nicely packaged in a rather eye-catching box.

Around the back, we have a quick run down of all the major features; we’ll take a closer look at those in a moment.

In the box, you’ll find all the usual bits first; power cable, owners manual and some chassis mounting screws.

EVGA Introduced Three New SuperNOVA P2 PSUs

EVGA has a lot of great hardware in their line-up already and there is no shortage of power supply choices either, but that doesn’t mean that more can’t be added and as such they’ve just introduced the 850 watt, 750 watt, and 650 watt versions of the award-winning P2 power supply series.

These new power supply units feature 80 Plus Platinum rated efficiency, and clean, continuous power to every component. These units get the most of out the power you supply them with, with 92% efficiency on 115VAC and 94% efficiency on 240VAC.

They are 100% modular and thereby allow you create the optimal cabling for your system, without any unnecessary cables cluttering your space.

The ECO mode ensures whisper silent operation where the fan completely stops under low and medium loads. It will only spin up when needed. The fan uses a double ball bearing system to ensure that it will last as long as the unit itself. And durability isn’t an issue with these power supplies as they are built with 100% Japanese capacitors and come backed by an amazing 10-year warranty.

Multi-GPU setups with Nvidia SLI and AMD Crossfire aren’t any problem either and everything is well protected thanks to the heavy-duty protections that include OVP (Over Voltage Protection), UVP (Under Voltage Protection), OCP (Over Current Protection), OPP (Over Power Protection), and SCP (Short Circuit Protection).

G.Skill Branches out and Showcase Ripjaws Power Supply

It looks like G.Skill wasn’t happy with just manufacturing great memory modules as they’re branching out into new areas. One of them is the power supply area and their first play looks quite impressive.

The new PSUs are dubbed Ripjaws just as the memory modules and you can expect the same kind of quality here. It starts out with the PS750G and the PS850G that both come with 80 Plus Gold certification and an efficiency rating of 90%. The two PSUs come with 750W and 850W respective and are fully modular units.

The PS850P and PS1250P are even better and they got an even higher efficiency rating. These two power supply units come with 80 Plus Platinum rating and an efficiency rating of 92%. Just as the two Gold models, these are also fully modular.

All Ripjaws series PSUs are made from with high-quality materials, such as 100% Japanese-made capacitors that ensure a high reliability and longer lasting lifetime.

The units are cooled by the unique automated G.SKILL ECO Optimized (GEO) Thermal Fan Control that also provides zero fan noise during low load operations. The used 140mm fans also use durable double ball bearings. Built-in protections include OVP, UVP, OCP, OPP, SCP, and OTP.

G.Skill did not announce a time of availability nor a price yet, but we will keep you updated with this information as they become available.
