G.Skill Announces Ripjaws DDR4-3000MHz 16GB 1.2V SO-DIMMs

DDR4 memory has come a long way since its introduction, but notebook and compact-system users haven’t been able to find as many choices when it comes to SO-DIMMs as the more traditional DIMM form factor. G.Skill is changing that and they’ve released yet another impressive module in this series. The new Ripjaws DDR4 modules can achieve 3000MHz at CL16 timings and they do so at a lower power consumption than other modules.

While DDR4 modules consume less power than DDR3 did, running them at such high speeds as 3000MHz usually requires modules to require 1.35V to perform at these speeds. But not these new Ripjaws modules, these modules will perform these speeds at just 1.2V and support the latest XMP 2.0 standard designed for 6th Gen Intel Core processors.

The new modules will be available in four different kits with either 8GB or 16GB modules and in packs with either one or two modules. Having SO-DIMMs that run with CL 16-18-18-43 timings at 3000MHz is already nice, but having them do so at just 1.2V is even more impressive. Adding that extra power and up to 32GB memory to compact systems is suddenly looking a lot easier.

Should your interest have been woken now, then there is some good news. You don’t have to wait very long to get the new G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4-3000MHz SO-DIMM modules as they will be available this month, April 20166, at authorized distributing partners. G.Skill did not reveal any pricing at this point, but we can assume that we’ll need to pay a fair price for such impressive and tiny memory modules.

Additionally, the small cut out allows you to see the memory in all its glory and increases your excitement during the unboxing process. It’s always great to see something a little unusual with memory packaging because the majority of kits take a fairly mundane approach to box design.

On the rear section, there’s a brief synopsis about the product’s reliability, and Mushkin’s commitment to providing excellent customer service.

A Closer Look

The memory’s primary colour is difficult to pinpoint as the red finish tends to lighten at certain angles. It’s really a cross between a dark red and pink, but once the modules are exposed to low-medium light conditions, they look like a typical red design. This unusual shading effect works superbly and makes the modules have a sense of character. I also really like the silver accent and subtle Mushkin branding which adds a sophisticated feel.

On another note, the distinctive shape on the heatspreaders stands out without detracting from the understated construction. Sadly, the green PCB doesn’t help matters and I’d much prefer to see a black PCB instead. Granted, this isn’t a major problem when the modules are installed, but it might irk some users wanting the perfect colour scheme, or using hefty LED illumination. Overall, the aesthetic design is excellent and should cater towards the mainstream gaming market rather nicely.

The system is delivered in a humongous outer box which offers outstanding protection against accidental damage. On the top, some durable fragile tape is used to instruct the courier to adopt a gentle approach when handling the item. One slight area for improvement revolves around the lack of side handles. This makes it quite difficult to lift especially in tight spaces.

Once opened, there’s an ample supply of packing peanuts to cushion the chassis box and prevent it from moving around during shipment. I was thoroughly impressed with the quantity of packaging materials, as it emphasizes the company’s attentive approach.

Here we can see the main chassis box containing a plastic cover and two thick polystyrene supports. As a result, the chance of cosmetic damage occurring is exponentially reduced.

The secure foam insert surrounds key components and keeps them firmly in position. I cannot emphasize enough how important these foam packs are because without them it’s possible for cables to become dislodged. Furthermore, it’s not beyond the realm of possibilities that a heavy GPU could droop and snap during transit. Thankfully, the foam pack holds up it upright and adds a great deal of structural support.

In terms of accessories, the system comes with the original packaging and documentation for each component. There’s also driver disks, a setup leaflet, attractive lanyard and UK power cable. The setup leaflet is fantastic and instructs beginners to remove the supportive foam before connecting the power cord.

That’s not all though because the package includes a CPU installation tool, spare parts, and screws to connect an M.2 SSD.

HyperX Releases High-Capacity DDR4 Kit Additions

If you are one of them who can’t get enough memory in their system, then you are in luck as HyperX added new high-capacity kits to both their HyperX Savage and HyperX Predator DDR4 memory series. The modules look sweet and bring impressive speeds, capacities, and timings for both X99 and Intel 100 series chipset users.

The Kingston HyperX Savage DDR4 memory is now available as a 2666MHz 128GB kit containing eight modules with a massive 16GB of RAM each. This new kit joins a family of the previously announced Savage DDR4 memory from 2133MHz to 3000MHz in various single modules and kits ranging from 4GB to 64GB capacities. While these new modules don’t get all the way to 3000MHz, they’re still very impressive with their 2666MHz and 15-16-16 timings.

The HyperX Predator DDR4 series is now available in 16GB DIMMs, meaning you can get 32GB kits of two modules and 64GB kits of four modules, all the way up to 3000MHz. Apacer Reveals Pricing on 3000MHz NOX DDR4 Laptop Memory

Apacer promised to release the final pricing for their new NOX DDR4 memory when we could report about it a little while ago and they’ve kept that promise. Apacer’s NOX DDR4 SO-DIMMs are quite impressive on several fronts and they could quite easily be described as the most advanced laptop memory to date.

With 64GB capacity and up to 3000MHz, we can imagine that these modules aren’t going to be cheap, but it is probably not as bad as you might have imagined. For $299, the 3000MHz version can be yours. The slower modules in the same series are a little cheaper and the 2800MHz SO-DIMMs can be yours for $239, 2666MHz for $219, and 2400MHz for $139. Availability for all four types is set for the end of November, so you might have to pack a little more patience before you can upgrade your mobile gaming station with these modules.

The label on the front isn’t just decoration, it is manufactured in detail by Z511 Lab team and it is able to stand 120°C heat with metalloid material. The well-developed front label helps the system stay within thermal limits during the regular use, and even during those marathon gaming sessions. This allows NOX to provide its highest performance possible under narrow and hot environment within the laptop. The low power consumption of just 1.2V is another thing that laptop users will benefit from, extending your battery time.

Kingston Announces HyperX Savage DDR4 Memory up to 3000MHz

With the release of Intel’s new Skylake platform, more and more people are in the need for DDR4 memory instead of the older generation of DDR3 modules. Sure, there are a few boards that support DDR3, but why go for something lesser when you don’t have to. Kingston’s enthusiast department HyperX has released their newest DDR4 modules that are designed to work with Skylake on the Z170 and 100 series chipsets as well as the a little older X99 chipset.

The new modules from Kingston’s HyperX division are called Savage and come with speeds of up to 3000MHz. The built-in XMP profiles are optimized for both Intel’s Core i7 and Core i5 CPUs and allow for the easy setup that we’ve come to rely on. The new Savage modules are available as single modules up to 8GB and kits up to 64GB, which is the downside here. More and more people are looking to go beyond the natural limitation you deal with when limited to a maximum of 8GB per module, but I’m sure that bigger version already are in the works.

The CAS Latency is rated between 12 and 15 and the modules are backed by Kingston’s known lifetime warranty.

Apacer Releases 64GB 3000MHz NOX DDR4 SO-DIMM

The times where the best hardware was limited to desktop PCs is long over and we can get all that power in portable units today too, may it be high-end i7 CPUs or multiple graphics card solutions. All this raw power also needs some memory and Apacer’s latest offering might come in handy here. The newly released Apacer NOX DDR4 modules take all that goodness and brings it down to the smaller SO-DIMM form factor.

The new Apacer NOX DDR4 SO-DIMMs are available with an impressive capacity of 64GB and speeds of up to 3000MHz while only consuming 1.2V. This is so far the most impressive and highest capacity SO-DIMM on the market. The NOX DDR4 SO-DIMM series also comes in slower speeds for those who don’t need as much. HyperX Achieves Fastest 128GB DDR4 Memory Kit

G-Skill announced the world’s fastest DDR4 128GB memory not long ago, but we already knew then that they wouldn’t stay on the throne for long. The DDR4 memory market is new and under heavy development at the moment, which means that these records will be broken often by the competition.

This time is no different and it’s Kingston’s HyperX gaming division that set the new record for DDR4 memory kits with 128GB capacity as they announced that they created the world’s fastest 128GB memory kit.

The kit used to break this record consists of eight 16GB HyperX Predator modules (16GB x 8) in quad-channel configuration. The modules were running on an MSI X99 MPOWER motherboard paired with an Intel Core i7 5820K processor. The new modules use tight 16-16-16-36 timings and XMP profiles for easy and stable overclocking.

The new 16GB DDR4 memory modules will be demonstrated at Computex Taipei within a system that’s also packed with their recently released HyperX Predator M.2 PCIe SSD. The live demo will be shown from June 4th to June 7th in their booth at ATT 4 FUN center where we’ll get the final details and specification of these modules, including the price.

Patriot Launches Viper 4 Memory Modules

Patriot extended their performance Viper series of memory with the new Viper 4 built for the latest Intel X99 DDR4 platform and Haswell-E processor. The new modules are offered in quad channel kits of 16GB and 32GB running at speeds ranging from 2400MHz to 3000MHz and voltages from 1.2 – 1.35v.

“We are really excited about this new addition to our Viper Line,” said Les Henry, Patriot’s VP of Engineering. “The new Viper 4 line benchmarks are crushing the older DDR3 scores from just about every hardware benchmark: memory bandwidth, SSD and USB just to name a few.”

Patriot also upgraded the heat shield to make sure the new and faster modules run just as cool and stable. They are XMP 2.0 compatible, hand-tested, and backed by a lifetime warranty.

The Patriot Viper 4 series will be available in the first quarter of 2015 at resellers around the world and with anMSRP between $250.00 and $700.00.

Corsair Unleash the Vengeance Extreme – The Worlds Fastest Memory Kit

So you’re in the market for some new memory and you want a kit that’s fast? Well normally you’ll be looking at 2133MHz, or 2400MHz, if you’ve got the need for more speed then there is the option of 2666Mhz or 2800MHz. The question is though, what if this is still not enough? Well if you’re as bonkers as the R&D team at Corsair are, then there is now the option for a 3000MHz kit!

Selecting the IC’s for this extreme kit is no easy feat, and after going through the most rigorous four-stage hand-screening process that Corsair engineers have done, less than 1 in 50 ICs will make the grade and be worthy of taking home on the PCB of one of these kits.  This is not where the validation ends, once the kits have been made, they need to pass performance tests on a select group of Z77 motherboards with an unlocked Ivy Bridge CPU that has the capability to run the kits at their intended speed

Don’t worry about the question of overclocking as results have already been floating about seeing one of these kits running at 3144MHz overclocked. If overclocking is your game, then Corsair do include on of Kingpin Cooling’s LN2 memory pots for taking the kits to hyper levels of speed.
