Massive Witcher 3 Update 1.07 Patch Rolls Out Today

CD Projekt Red’s extensive work on the 1.07 Patch for the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is rolling out today! And the developer confirmed a long list of bug fixes and other issues that were grieving players and also adding an alternative movement scheme for Geralt.

The newest patch for the open world adventure game is already going out with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. The community lead Marcin Momot said earlier today that the patch will go out for all versions of the game within 24 hours.

At around more than 7GB, this update is huge, although this isn’t the biggest patch we have ever seen, but with a patch this big it should be adding a lot of new features for Witcher 3 players. The update will also be adding a new array of stash location for storing gear, improvements coming to the game’s inventory system, a re-organization of books, among other things. Full change log below.

Usually we have seen huge updates for games that experience huge bug issues, Assassins Creed Unity for example, but in this case the developers are treating the player base to a huge update with tons of new features and a handful of bug fixes, are you excited for the new update for Witcher 3?

Xbox One Updating to Let You Stream Games to Windows 10 PC

With Windows 10 just around the corner, Windows users and Xbox One users will have the ability to stream Xbox One games to a Windows 10 PC. This feature is very interesting as this allows PC gamers to play their favourite Xbox One games on their PC, of course you would have to go out and purchase an Xbox One first and a few games to boot, but the option is there.

The feature was announced in January and it will allow gamers to bring games to other rooms inside their household without having to move their console, which is pretty handy as the amount of times you may have had to move your own console from your bedroom to your living room and vice versa. The update will also bring about some new features of the Windows 10 Xbox app, including a party chat mode that will let you talk to Xbox one player via your PC.

These updates are really making Windows 10 and the Xbox one work together and can definitely make games for PC and Xbox a little more enjoyable. Being able to stream from your Xbox to any Windows 10 device will be handy, especially if you have a laptop this means you will be able to play Gears Of War in your garden.

Batman Arkham Knight PC Update Coming August

Batman Arkham Knight was released almost a month ago and by this time there has only been one tiny patch that was released for the PC version which didn’t fix a lot, however PC fans have been angrily voicing their opinions demanding fixes and patches.

Thankfully a patch is on its way in August, which aims to eliminate framerate issues and improve the overall performance of the game. Here is a list of following features that will be added in the upcoming patch for august

  • Support for frame rates above 30FPS in the graphics settings menu
  • Improve overall performance and framerate hitches
  • Fix for low resolution texture bug
  • Improve overall performance and framrate hitches
  • Add more options to the graphics settings menu
  • Improvements to hard drive streaming and hitches
  • Adds full screen rendering bug on gaming laptops
  • Improvements to system memory and VRAM usages
  • NVIDIA SLI bug fixes
  • Enabling AMD Crossfire
  • NVIDA and AMD updated drivers

So far the list of items for the following patch sound very promising and should hopefully clear up most of the issues PC gamers have been experiencing since launch of the game. While it has been almost a full month since release and PC has only had a minor patch update, it is very good news for those that are still playing batman on PC as recently Warner Bros announced that the game would go back on sale for PC with every issue addressed in the fall, which may have left those still playing annoyed.

Are you looking forward to playing Batman Arkham Knight the way it was meant to be played?

Windows 10 will Force Automatic Updates

Windows 10 is just on the horizon and whether you’re a gamer or PC enthusiast, we are all curious about the sort of things Windows 10 will bring to the table and it looks like Microsoft will be making some adjustments to its update policy, as well as the ability to turn off updates, will be entirely removed from Windows 10.

As Ars Technia points out the new windows 10 EULA includes a statement that does imply users to agree to an automatic update without any additional note

The software will periodically check for system and app updates, and downloads and installs them to your system. you can obtain updates from Microsoft or an authorized sources, however, Microsoft will have to update your system in order to provide you with those updates. By accepting this agreement, you agree to receive these types of automatic updates without any additional notice.

Although, do not be too alarmed if this certain policy troubles you, it is quite possible for things to change between the time before release and even after the release, as it wouldn’t be the first time Microsoft announced a new policy for a product only to reverse their decision later on. In fact, Microsoft hasn’t announced this at all, yet.

Do you think automatic updates are good idea?

Fallout Shelter Rakes In $5.1 Million in just Two Weeks

With the E3 announcement of Fallout 4 just over a month ago the internet has been getting pretty wild for fallout content and with the announcement of Fallout 4 there was also the release of Fallout Shelter, a free to play app for Apple devices and soon, Android. The app quickly took Candy Crush from its number 1 spot and the games popularity has been gathering momentum extremely fast.
The popular SIM game which has you take the position of the overseer (the leader of the vault) has cashed in $5.1 million dollars in just two weeks that is vastly incredible for a free to playgame, where is the money coming from you ask? Well, like most mobile games, this game includes the option to buy in game items, however in this game you do not need to buy these, as everything in the game is built instantly and the endgame purchases are just for rare items, characters and clothing. You might ask yourself why Bethesda, a game developer who are popularly known for their AAA open world RPG games would move into mobile app games and the answer is very self explanatory; $5.1 million in cash being made in just a matter of two weeks.

The success of Fallout Shelter is a strong indicator that game companies can have alternative ways of making money and that you don’t need to develop an incredibly detailed game to make some extra money on the side.

Pluto Probe Powered By The Same CPU As The Playstation

Popular topic this week has been the highly detailed photos of Pluto sent by the New Horizons probe, however, these images were not taken using the latest technology available, the device was launched in January 2006 and was clearly constructed even earlier.

The specs inside this probe is a little more primitive than what you would expect to see in a probe today, the CPU powering this mission is a 32-bit MIPS R3000 processor, the exact one used in the Sony Playstation. And no, not the PS2, but the very original PlayStation even basic and low-end even by 2005 standards, but however it worked and is even still working now a decade later, even with the best efforts of being in space.

Quite amazing that the hardware has lasted this long and quite fortunate that it would last long enough to make it to Pluto and still be in perfect functioning order, the choice of hardware may have had something to do with it. It’s possible that specific chip was built to last. where is this probes next mission? If there is any alien life on Pluto they may get the chance to play some classic Play Station games.

What do you think of the probe using a PlayStation CPU?

Arkham Knight PC Won’t Be Fixed Until Fall 2015

Kotaku Australia has reported that it got its hands on an internal email from EB Games, in which Warner Bros claimed that Batman: Arkham Knight for the PC will not be fixed until the Australian Spring or Fall for everyone else.

As that email reads:

“As previously advised, we have stopped sales of Batman: Arkham Knight PC while Warner and Rocksteady work on addressing performance issues with the game. The latest information from Warner is that the updates won’t be available until Spring. Due to this we have made the difficult decision to recall all PC stock from stores to return to the vendor until an acceptable solution is released.”

Only a few days ago Warner Bros claimed that Rockstready is hard at work on the fixing process of Batman Arkham Knight and while the game’s Steam entry has been recently updated with various fixed it seems very unlikely that we will see any performance patch to be released this summer.

Although it’s nice to know their working on a fix for Batman it just seems rather late to be releasing it in fall with so many other games coming out in that time such as Battlefront and Fallout 4, many of those may be left sour from the bad experience of the games poor performance and probably won’t be very interested in buying or playing when this fix drops in November, it doesn’t help that this game was delayed from October to June; that’s 8 months of waiting and now another 3+ months!

While for those that are still playing Batman: Arkham Knight the Steam community is full of guides and tutorials to improve performance and to get the best experience with the poor optimization. What do you think are the developers leaving this too late?

Remix Mini – The World’s First True Android PC

Remix Mini is a tiny PC that gives you a PC experience unlike anything on android and Android experience unlike anything on a PC, the device is powered by the Remix OS the device allows users to work and play with the entire Android app ecosystem while taking full advantage of intuitive PC features that allows windows multi-tasking and mouse and keyboard support.

A very unique feature is the devices capacitive power button unlike any kind PC rather than an awkwardly feeling around the back panel for the elusive power button you just gently tap the head of the device and within seconds the device will begin to start working and surfing the internet as you would with any other computer.

The device is powered by the latest 64-bit chipset and can deliver up to 20-30% better performance than it’s 32-bit counterparts, and at the core of what makes this device so special is actually what Remix Mini doesn’t need you to do and that is installing the right bit version ever again.

The typical desktop computer clocks in at anywhere between 65 to 250 watts. Remix Mini gives you the same power of desktop computing at a mere 10 watts. By simply leveraging already existing power efficiencies found in mobile CPU architectures, Remix Mini is able to save you so much more in power without sacrificing anything in performance.

The device looks very promising in what it offers for the small size! check out the kick starter page Remix Mini

Dead Island 2 Is In Trouble

Dead Island seems to be in a rough place at the moment with recent replacing series creator Techland for Spec Ops: The Line developer YAGER. It seems like an odd decision especially since the recent gameplay footage was well received, the recent announcement doesn’t mention any plans for moving forward.

As of right now it seems to be that the sequel is in a state of limbo.

“With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve. After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner YAGER. We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage.” No further information was given on the decision to part with YAGER and what this could mean for Dead Island 2.

The original Dead Island and its follow-up Dead Island: Riptide, were created by a polish developer Techland and that developer went on to work with Warner Bros on a similar zombie-based game called Dying Light. This is likely the cause of its recent delay in 2016.

It’s disappointing to see this game delayed and the occurring problems between Deep Silver and YAGER, hopefully this won’t have an effect on the final product.

Facebook Currently Testing It’s Own Virtual Assistant ‘Moneypenny’

Artificial assistants have become quite the popular thing since Siri was released for iPhone devices with rival programs such as Cortana and the Google now could get some competition.

Facebook is launching its virtual assistant of its own called Moneypenny and it’s a feature that lives within the social networks Messenger app and it will allow you to ask real people for help with stuff, but exactly what? The information sources say research and shopping, and sadly that is all the information given. the information is quite scarce and no release date has been given.

It seems that rather than being a virtual assistant similar to Apple’s Siri, Microsoft’s Cortana, Amazon’s Alexa or Google Now, MoneyPenny is apparently powered by humans quite similar to a concierge system, this service is currently being tested within Facebook’s Messenger app, which has recently been broken away from the core Facebook social network’s experience to create a separate messaging system and a secondary platform that can be used without a Facebook account

It will be very interesting to see an artificial assistant that isn’t tied to a phone or device but rather Facebook messenger itself, as this would mean that any device that can use this app would be able to use this service, giving it a broader user base

Do you think Facebook needs a virtual assistant?

Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition For PC Is Not a Port!

During the San Diego Comic Con panel held for the Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition, the Coalition Studio Head Rod Fergusson talked in more detail about the main differences between the PC version and the Xbox One version. After reiterating that the PC version will support a 4K resolution, with the addition of DirectX 12, including unlocked framerates and all the windows 10 features ranging from Xbox live, GameDVR and screenshots. The 2007 release was a port from Xbox 360, this new version is not a port of the Xbox One release.

This PC version is not a port. It’s enhanced greatly, and all the content is ”authored at a much higher rate”. There are even 4K textures all the way through the environment there were restrictions the team had when developing for the Xbox One, but once the team got around to working on the PC version they could take off those restrictions and bump up the game extremely and unlocked it fully giving the game a super crisp look.

Recently the team tested the game at 4K on a 70” TV and it was ”mindblowing” according to Ferguson, at $39.99 it’s a great deal to go back and get ready for Gears Of War 4.

It looks like Gears Of War ultimate Edition is going to look very über in terms of graphic fidelity and will take great advantage of current PC hardware.

Are you looking forward to experience Gears of War on the PC?

Ubisoft Gives Explanation For Console Game High Digital Price

The online stores for consoles have some inconsistencies and finally one of the big publishers is giving us some answers. Ubisoft reported their Q1 results today during a conference call with one of their investors to discuss the financials and it’s more than $60 million in digital sales. An analyst asked the question that a lot of gamers have been wondering, why do digital games cost so much more than the physical version on consoles?

An example would be if you were to go and buy the disk copy of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Unity for the Playstation 4, here is the price you would pay at example Amazon

And here is what you’d pay for the digital copy:

As you can see that is nearly double the amount for a download, Ubisoft Chief executive officer Yves Guillemot explained why that is.

“Digital games don’t react as fast on console as they do on PC,” said Guillemot. “What we can say is that when games are older than one year, digital is a lot more dynamic on console because there are less units in stores. It’s a new business and new trend.”

Keeping pressure on physical sales is the main goal for Ubisoft.

“We want to get rid of the stocks in stores before lowering the price on digital,” said Guillemot.

To put it short the extra £20+ that you’re paying for downloading a game is for inventory management for the publisher. In order to keep retailers happy so they don’t regret ordering huge amounts of orders for an Ubisoft game and it ensures they will order big orders in the future.

Thankfully, Guillemot suspects that this scenario will only be temporary as it will only last as long as the physical copy is the dominant way to purchase video games for consoles Xbox One and Playstation 4.

Do you buy your games digitally or retail?

New Trailer For Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice

With the San Diego Comic Con currently on going, it is no surprise to see a few new trailers released for upcoming comic inspired movies. This trailer does give us a better look at the upcoming feature and the trailers shows us a lot more information regarding Ben Afflecks interpretation of the caped crusader. So far Batman is starting to look incredibly awesome, the trailer also gives us a glimpse of Superman’s perspective as he is blamed for the destruction of Metropolis. We are given our first look at Wonderwoman although it’s very brief, we also get a look of Jesse Eisenberg’s role of Lex Luthor, as he seems to play a pivotal role in the film.

So far Batman V Superman is looking pretty great, hopefully we will see more of Batman and Superman fighting each other rather than them fighting for screen time.

Here we can see a sneaky shot of Robins costume littered with graffiti with joker being the clear culprit, it’s possible joker will be playing a role in the movie and maybe even robin.

In the next screenshot, we can see of Lex Luthor glancing over some kryptonite in a glass case, definitely will play a big plot point in the film.

Are you pumped for Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice?

Pacific Rim Starts Shooting In November

Pacific Rim is an action movie with giant robots (jaegers) fighting giant monsters (kaiju) it was released for the summer back in 2013 it had a soft opening at the U.S box office, but the feature did well enough at the international box office to earn itself a sequel more giant metal elbow rocket punching fun for all.

During an interview with yahoo, Guillermo del Toro revealed that things are quickly moving forward with the sequel and Del Toro said Pacific Rim 2 is starting shooting in November. Del Toro added, “We are deep into designing the robots, the kaijus…having fun planning the battles. Very exciting news, it’s good to see they’re putting extensive dedication into the designs of monsters and robots to hopefully make them as memorable as the first wave of monsters and mechas.

It’s exciting news for pacific rim fans although the gap between the first film and the sequel seems very big 2013 release and a 2017 release seems like a very large time to plan a sequel lets just hope Del Toro can deliver an interesting story and plenty of mecha fighting.

Are you excited for Pacific Rim 2? Pacific Rim 2 is scheduled to be released on August 4th 2017.

Original Cast Returning for The Goonies 2!

The Goonies 2 has been a rumored sequel floating around Hollywood for years, but it never got off the ground and most just assumed it would never be. Recently, during an off-handed TMZ interview taking place in the street, original director Richard Donner confirms that the sequel is happening and that the entire cast will return!

He made the announcement after answers about Hollywood’s reliance on superhero movies, when asked if he’d ever return to the genre he helped created with 1978’s Superman, he says ”if you called Goonies a comic book.

Below is the following video where Richard Donner confirmed that Goonies 2 will be coming.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyEc1gIHZzE

A script for Goonies 2 had been written a few years back, which follows a new group of kids, the sons and daughters of the original Goonies who all go off on their own adventure, just like the original gang. Most of the original cast including Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Kerri Green, and Martha Plimpton have all expressed an interest in returning in the past few years to be part of the sequel.

Warner Brother even considered turning the title into a direct-to-video franchise much like what they did with Corey Felsman’s The Lost boys.

In 2008 it was rumored that a new writer had joined the project but this was never confirmed by the studio and it’s certainly a very odd way to announce a sequel that many eagerly awaited.

So, are you excited for The Goonies 2?

Virtual reality gaming has slowly been getting more and more popular among gamers and is considered to be the next big step in gaming adding more immersion and reality, The Oculus Rift has sold over 175,000 development kits and has proved to be a successful and popular device for gamers. However, the vast majority of the world has not had the awesome chance to try this tech out as to use the Oculus Rift.

Oculus Already Working on Second Consumer Version

Since Oculus announced their consumer version of the Oculus Rift there has been much conversation on what is to come next in Oculus Rift’s lineup, so the question is Oculus rift already working on the second version of the Rift?

”Of course” says the Oculus’s founder, Palmer Luckey. ”There certain things you have to,” he paused, “there are components with long lead times, years even, or custom optimizations that aren’t going to fit into their roadmap for a few years. Those are the kind of things you have to start doing some work on if you want to ship a product on time.” What those things are specifically, Palmer wouldn’t elaborate, but there is plenty of room for speculation.

Oculus has been investing a large amount of its resources into computer vision technology, purchasing companies like Surreal Vision, The 13th Lab and Nimble. additionally Oculus’ newest running partner Microsoft is investing into the computer vision scene with its Hololens and has some of the most advanced projects in the field.

The idea of AR in a VR headset is quite far from new but is has never been truly perfected. Early concepts of the Rift have shown a forward-facing camera at the front of the face, a feature which seems to have been removed for the first customer edition.

An image (see above) from Will Steptoe’s “AR Rift” project that used two cameras at the front of the Rift to create mixed reality experiences. Will now works for Oculus…

One of the images leaked earlier this year showing an early concept image for the CV1 – note the camera

It seems very obvious that Oculus would like to evantually enable inside-out tracking within its own headset-meaning that it would no longer require and external sensor for positional tracking. this will eliminate any issues with occlusion as well as enabling positional tracking.

It’s good to see that Oculus are continuing to push the Rift even further even when the first consumer version isn’t available yet

Will you get the Oculus rift or wait till the second consumer version?

Final Ant-Man Trailer Released

With the phase 2 part of Avengers coming to a conclusion with Avengers: Age Of Ultron, we have been left wanting a little more Marvel movie action and of course Ant-Man is here! While he may be small, he packs quite a punch!

Ant-Man is the latest stand alone Marvel movie to be released, as the other beforehand have been building up to Age Of Ultron.

The trailer has plenty of action to boot and plenty of jokes and small hints of the Avengers. This trailer seems to make the Ant-Man movie seem a lot more entertaining and fun than the first one, the trailer shows off a lot of scenes of Ant-Man using his shrink ability having him dodge bullets and explosions and, of course, riding a toy train. Ant-man is coming to the UK and Ireland July 17th

Overall it’s nice to see more Marvel movies of lesser known characters as we’ve been exposed to mostly the Avengers and the individual Avengers own movies, a lot more characters are getting molded with their own show in the Marvel spotlight with characters like DareDevil being a success on Netflix and with the Fantastic Four movie to come out soon after Ant-Man

Are you looking forward to Ant-Man?

Indie Developers Working on P.T. Spiritual Successor!

With the recent cancellation of Silent Hills, horror fans have been let down and disappointed, Silent Hills truly looked liked the horror game we have all been waiting for, but sadly in March of 2015, due to conflicts with Konami, the game was sadly cancelled.

However an indie developer has decided to start where Silent Hills left off not recreating the game but starting another game that heavily using the base of how the game looked and felt, from watching the short demonstration of the game it looks very promising the developer has done a very successful job of recreating the P.T look. The game has you exploring a British-based house and exploring and looking at items with things getting progressively more scary and eventually ending with the player being killed.

The project titled Allison Road will have a lot of expectation if it intends to take the place Silent Hills was in, Lilith Ltd is the six person team and has been developing the game since september only just weeks after the release of P.T.the trailer is intended to how off how the final game should look but note that this is a vertical slice and not the stuff you will see in the final version.

Do you think Alison Road can live up to the hype that Silent Hills did?

Rumours Surround Acquisition of AMD by Microsoft

Word has spread that in an effort to start its own chip design operations Microsoft is planning to buy Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). It appears that Microsoft initiated the talk several months ago, if this move is true, will hit a vast swath of industry major players across the globe as AMD itself is the only hardware supplier to Microsoft’s own Xbox One and Sony’s PlayStation 4. Apple also uses AMD tech when it comes down to the professional graphics cards included in Mac pro and some MacBook models.

As this is an unofficial rumour, we can only state that current negotiations remain unclear, especially regarding Microsoft’s exact proposal to AMD. However, it’s good to keep in mind that Microsoft has operating funds of $95.3 billion, while AMD is capitalised right now at somewhere around $41.81 billion; so the possibility of an offer that AMD can’t refuse from Microsoft is still very much possible.

This is just how very fragile the balance of the IT industry is at the present moment. It is held only at the will of the big contenders such as Microsoft and Samsung if a similar move were to be played by Samsung or even Sony, this would cause chaos with smaller companies and even larger companies that depends on companies like AMD to provide excellent products with enough profit to build a solid brand.

We have heard many stories regarding the acquisition of AMD lately, do you think this rumour is true?

Batman Arkham Knight Mod Adds More Playable Characters

Batman: Arkham Knight has only been out for a short time and while the PC port has a had a really shaky start that isn’t stopping modders from tinkering with the game. A modder has gone out of his way to make more playable characters for the free roaming parts of the game ranging from Joker to Harley Quin and a very wide selection of characters; the mod seems to cover just about every other major character in the game allowing batman fans to soar the Gotham skies as their favourite hero or villain.

The video showcases all the available characters to play with and to show off that they work with the animations and have all their correct move sets.

This is possibly one the most awesome first mods to be added to the game as the vanilla game lacks riddler challenges; a mode where you select a character and skin and choose a map to fight enemies till you drop or to stealthily take out foes. This can definitely add more life to the game once the player has beaten the main campaign; a must for those that wish to fight crime as the boy wonder or for those that wish to play the role of a villain and decimate enemies in the streets.

Hopefully, we can see some classic bat mobiles imported into the game next! Are you going to try this mod out?

Super mario in Unreal Engine 4

I think we’ve all dreamed of what a Nintendo game would look like if it ever got the PC treatment, fear not Nintendo fans as someone has put Mario in the latest unreal engine and oh boy does it look good, 3D artist Aryok Pinera has given us a glimpse of what a PC Nintendo game could look like by inserting the mushroom eating plumber unto Unreal Engine 4.

As you can see the entire thing looks damn right stunning all the environments are taken from the unreal marketplace, Mario’s animations were scripted using blueprints only and his animations were recreated from scratch as well as the PBR ready textures.

As mentioned in the unreal engine 4 post this engine has shown to be rather impressive this further shows the potential of the engine and more importantly that a Mario game using this engine would definitely look fun to play and good eye candy. while that being said the hyper-realistic visuals look great they may not suit the cartoon style of Mario it does look great, but we can only imagine how it could look if Nintendos own artists were to work on these types of high-level visuals.

Do you think a Mario game with a photo-realistic look would be fun?.

Unreal Engine 4 Real Time Images

An Unreal Engine forum member ‘koola’ has uploaded two screenshots from his latest project, the two images look incredibly mind-blowing most photo realistic we have seen to date, this is a very good show of visual quality that will be found in games in the close future.

Koola has previously delivered some über realistic real-time architectural visualization using the unreal engine 4. taking advantages that unreal can offer such as accessibility and power, the results of his work have wowed his colleagues and garnered attention the international press and also the Unreal Team themselves at epic. earlier this year Koola became the very first recipient of the inaugural innovative project designed in Unreal Engine 4.

Another notable project that will be using Unreal Engine 4 is the gorgeous abstention, a new survival horror tittle that will take inspiration from horror greats such as the resident evil series and Eternal Darkness and silent hill, Fan can expect a real mix of mental and horror elements with intense gameplay. An acclaimed game development studio Dontnod and the publisher Focus home Interactive announced Vampyr a new role-playing game powered by the Unreal engine 4, the game is set to release on play station 4, Xbox one and the PC.

Developers are always pushing the boundaries with the photo-realism with video games and this is definitely pushing the thresholds of true photorealistic visuals in a game engine.

Do you look forward to playing video games using the Unreal Engine 4?
