There is absolutely no shortage of huge Star Wars fans on this planet and that hasn’t changed since the first movie aired many years ago and there is one thing that all these fans have missed since day one: a method of really experiencing the movies yourself.
There have been a lot of star wars themed games, but none of them could really put you into the universe with Han Solo and Luke Skywalker, that is until now. Director Rob McLellan, the guy who’s also turning his robot serial killer short movie ABE into a feature film, has teamed up with VFX guy Craig Stiff for the ultimate Star Wars VR experience.
The two put together the demo you see below together with a little help from HammerheadVR studio. It is the latest project that they are toying with and it is built entirely in Unreal Engine 4. And so far it looks amazing and like the thing we’ve all wanted.
Please note that this is a fan project and not a commercial title. Whether it will ever be finished and what it will become is a thing that time will tell, but I can already hear people throwing their wallets and credit cards at their monitors around the world. Rob and Craig are hoping to have a playable demo available by the time Oculus Rift is released next year.
